Lu Changjue talked nonsense while drunk; Qin Yizhi returned to her parents' home for a visit.

Prime Minister Qin prepared a table full of delicious food for Qin Qi's homecoming, all of which were her favorite dishes.

When Lu Huai walked in, the two were sitting at the table chatting. Upon seeing him enter, Prime Minister Qin seemed rather displeased, as if he had disturbed his time with his daughter.

“Come with me,” Prime Minister Qin said, glaring at him.

"Me?" Lu Huai pointed to himself, somewhat uncertain.

"Who else? Hurry up and come here!" Qin Chengxiang had no kind words for Lu Huai and said impatiently.

Lu Huai quickly followed.

Prime Minister Qin led him to Qin Xi's room.

Lu Huai looked around. The room wasn't sparsely furnished. A lacquered wooden table stood against the wall, a bunch of flowers he couldn't identify were arranged in a blue-and-white porcelain vase, and next to it was a bronze mirror, along with some rouge and face powder. A light blue bed curtain hung naturally, and the quilt on the bed was neatly folded. Although there were no particularly expensive decorations, it was clear that the room had been built with care.

Lu Huai recalled the day he first met Qin Qi. She was also wearing a light blue long dress, her waist-length hair simply tied up with a plain ribbon and adorned with a jade-colored hairpin. This must have been her favorite color.

As soon as he looked up, he saw Prime Minister Qin frowning deeply, staring at him with obvious displeasure.

"..."

Lu Huai twitched the corner of his mouth: "Prime Minister... what is this?"

Unexpectedly, Prime Minister Qin frowned even more deeply: "Still calling yourself Prime Minister? You look down on my Prime Minister's residence so much?"

"Father-in-law, did you bring me here because you have something to say?" Lu Huai could only go along with him.

"Hmph," Prime Minister Qin twitched his beard, snorted, and asked very seriously, "Have you and Yizhi consummated your marriage?"

Lu Huai truly didn't know how Prime Minister Qin could ask such an awkward question with such a straight face. He stiffened his expression and said, "No..."

Upon hearing this, Prime Minister Qin's brows finally relaxed: "That's good. If you ever find someone else, Yizhi will be happy to divorce you."

Now it was Lu Huai's turn to frown.

Why do they want to divorce so soon after getting married?

Just as he was about to say something to defend himself, the Prime Minister waved his hand and said, "Don't think I don't know about how you stormed off with Yizhi the other day. I haven't settled the score with you yet."

Lu Huai reluctantly shut his mouth.

Prime Minister Qin added, "If you cannot guarantee that you will treat my daughter well with all your heart, then you must not touch her, otherwise I will kill you no matter what."

Lu Huai nodded solemnly.

"Do you know..." Prime Minister Qin paused, "that there has been another riot in the Northwest?"

Lu Huai said with a solemn expression, "I have heard about it. In recent years, taxes have increased, and many people on the border are suffering greatly. This is to be expected."

Prime Minister Qin glanced at him in surprise, thinking he was ignorant of these matters but finding his words insightful. He nodded, saying with some appreciation, "Indeed. 'When the tiger is away, the monkeys become king.' Now that Your Majesty is neglecting state affairs, the people below are becoming arrogant and domineering. They are arbitrarily changing the regulations on corvée labor and taxes, and the people dare not speak out against it."

Lu Huai sighed, his tone rather heavy: "'Water can carry a boat, but it can also capsize it.' I'm afraid such peaceful days are numbered."

-

When the two came out, Qin Xi had already set out the bowls and chopsticks. Seeing them come out, she greeted them with a smile.

While eating at the table, Lu Huai kept putting food on Qin Qi's plate, and he kept putting food on her plate even after it had piled up into a small mountain.

Qin Xi glanced at the displeased Prime Minister Qin and whispered to Lu Huai, "That's enough, that's enough, I can't finish it."
