012 Taking the pulse
Li Yang's eyes lit up, and as if afraid he would change his mind, she immediately agreed: "Okay."
The Sixth Young Master chuckled: "I haven't even said anything yet, and you've already agreed?"
"I'll do anything to cure my husband!" Li Yang said confidently, her chest puffed out.
"You're quite the infatuator," the Sixth Young Master commented, then turned his gaze to Yuan Chongjing, who had remained silent. "How about having your wife be my maid for a month?"
"OK!"
"no!"
As soon as he said both sentences, Li Yang glanced at Yuan Chongjing, then turned to the Sixth Young Master and said, "Okay, no problem!"
Yuan Chongjing grabbed Li Yang's arm and whispered, "Are you crazy? He's obviously up to no good!"
Li Yang, that dim-witted fool, didn't see it, but he certainly did. This self-proclaimed miracle doctor, the Sixth Young Master, had a deep interest in her. If she agreed, wouldn't that be the difference between a lamb entering a tiger's den?
"I don't care if he has good intentions or not. As long as he can cure your amnesia, I'll treat him like a saint even if he's black-hearted!" Li Yang replied in a low voice, then looked up at the Sixth Young Master and said, "Divine Doctor, I promise you."
The Sixth Young Master, sitting on the wall, snapped his fingers: "Great!"
Then he said into the wall, "Open the door for them."
The gate of the mansion slowly opened, and the sixth young master said to Li Yang, "Come in. While I'm in a good mood, I'll take a good look at your husband's pulse later."
"Great! Great!" Li Yang said excitedly, pulling Yuan Chongjing's arm and walking towards the courtyard gate.
To his surprise, he couldn't budge it even after two pulls. Yuan Chongjing stood rooted to the spot: "I disagree!"
The two were quite different in size. Li Yang tugged hard twice, but Yuan Chongjing remained standing still.
A soft laugh came from inside the courtyard, and the Sixth Young Master had already jumped down from the wall: "Yangyang, I'll wait for you for half an incense stick's time, or I'll be late!"
Li Yang was getting anxious. Seeing that Yuan Chongjing was as stubborn as a mule and refused to go in, she said urgently, "Don't you want to know what happened back then that made you give up everything to marry me?"
Yuan Chongjing's expression immediately changed; this was the biggest question in his mind. His steps became unsteady, and his stiff, upright body softened somewhat.
Li Yang continued, "Don't you want to know how Little Peach came to be? Don't you want to know about our loving daily life over the years?"
Her intention was to persuade him, but to her surprise, Yuan Chongjing's wavering resolve immediately hardened after hearing her words: "I don't want to know."
He really didn't want to know why they, a couple who had only been back in Kyoto for a year, had already won the title of 'Kyoto's most loving couple'!
Li Yang didn't have time to think about why his emotions changed so quickly.
Seeing that he was still stubbornly standing there without moving, she became furious: "What exactly do you want to do? I finally managed to persuade the miracle doctor to treat your illness, and now we're just one step away from success. What are you backing down for!"
"Did you persuade him to become a doctor? I think he's just making fun of you. What kind of miracle doctor is he? He's just a kid who probably can't even recognize all the medicinal herbs. Miracle doctor? He's more like a charlatan!"
Li Yang was so angry she wanted to argue with him.
Compared to Yuan Chongjing, who acted solely on his whims, she thought things through more deeply. The divine physician had only given her half an incense stick's time; she had to get Yuan Chongjing inside as soon as possible.
Are you afraid that after you regain your memories, you'll remember our intimate moments and won't be able to face me?
Li Yang pretended to know and said, "I saw through your little scheme a long time ago."
Yuan Chongjing's face flushed red. "What nonsense are you talking about!"
"I'm not making this up. Don't be fooled by how you avoid me now. Back when we were in Chenzhou, we were so deeply in love, inseparable. The more you disliked me back in the academy, the more you loved me and couldn't live without me afterwards. You don't know that, do you?"
She came to his side, stood on tiptoe, and whispered intimately in his ear, "When we were in our wedding night, you were so excited you cried, and you even told me not to laugh at you. That night you were... exceptionally valiant, I couldn't get out of bed the next day."
These words enraged Yuan Chongjing, causing his eyes to redden: "Impossible!"
"Hmm... How could it be impossible? Otherwise, why do you think we've been married for five years and Xiao Taozi is already over four years old? Actually, I've always been too embarrassed to say it, but Brother Jing, you're so brave and powerful that you can hit the mark with one strike. I got pregnant on our wedding night."
She lowered her head shyly, clutching a strand of hair hanging in front of her chest with both hands, her body twisting and turning, her left foot raised, her toes dangling and occasionally tapping the ground.
Yuan Chongjing disliked her bringing up their past intimacy, especially in public. He felt a surge of anger rising in his chest, threatening to burst from his throat. Coupled with her affected and fake expression, he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him, and he collapsed to the ground, his head spinning.
Seeing this, Li Yang immediately grabbed him with lightning speed. He was heavy and so angry with her that he was unconscious, his entire weight pressing down on her.
She struggled to support him, calling out to Beihai, who was hiding to the side: "Come help me!"
Bei Hai then ran over from behind the carriage and grabbed Yuan Chongjing's arm: "Young Madam, shall we go back to the manor?"
“Why go back to the manor?” Li Yang’s face flushed red as Yuan Chongjing pressed her down. “Let’s go find the divine physician.”
Bei Hai paused for a moment, then urged again, "Young Madam, this divine doctor is truly skilled. As long as he takes action, the Second Young Master will definitely regain his memory. Are you really sure?"
He had followed Yuan Chongjing for many years, and although he didn't know as much about Yuan Chongjing's private affairs as she did, Bei Hai still knew the true feelings between the two. Once Yuan Chongjing regained his memory, the two would inevitably return to their previous respectful relationship.
Li Yang said, "Let's take it one step at a time and get them in first."
The Sixth Young Master was waiting for them inside the courtyard. When he saw the two of them carrying Yuan Chongjing almost on their backs, he laughed and asked, "What happened? Did you knock him out?"
“How could that be? This is my husband,” Li Yang said. She and Bei Hai helped Yuan Chongjing onto the wooden chair before she explained, panting, “I made him faint from anger.”
The Sixth Young Master burst into laughter: "Yangyang, your personality is just what I like. Don't worry, I'll take care of your husband's amnesia! Not to mention five years ago, I can make him remember things that happened ten years ago!"
"No, no, no, it's not good to think too much. Let's just make it five years."
“Alright then,” the Sixth Young Master said, somewhat disinterested at the suggestion being rejected. He walked over to Yuan Chongjing, roughly lifted his wrist, and casually took his pulse.
Li Yang sat beside Yuan Chongjing, her fingers nervously fidgeting beneath her sleeves. She wanted to hear good news, yet she was also somewhat afraid to hear it.
While waiting, she even began to pray that the Sixth Prince would tell her, with a sorrowful expression, that Yuan Chongjing's amnesia was incurable.
However, she felt that she had gone too far, wanting to ruin Yuan Chongjing's promising career for her own selfish desires.
Just as she was feeling uneasy and guilty, the Sixth Young Master withdrew his hand, then brushed aside Yuan Chongjing's eyes and hair to examine him carefully. Finally, he said something that made Li Yang both happy and disappointed: "No problem, with my acupuncture, he will be better in half a month at most."
Li Yang immediately snapped out of her daze: "Really? Thank you, miracle doctor!"
The Sixth Young Master raised his hand to stop her: "I don't like going out, so you need to bring him for his daily acupuncture sessions. But from what I heard just now, he didn't seem very willing."
"No, it's no honor for my husband to have the divine physician intervene. He was just too happy and didn't realize what was happening. Please rest assured, divine physician, I will definitely bring him over tomorrow!"
Seeing her joyful smile, the Sixth Young Master chuckled and said, "Alright, it's settled then. You're in charge of dealing with him, and I'll be in charge of curing him. But there's one thing: for the next month..."
"I will obey the divine physician's orders without question!" Li Yang replied eagerly.
