Chapter 442 I will only hate you every day of the rest of my life

Chapter 442 I will only hate you every day of the rest of my life

Gu Gan coldly looked at his friend whom he had once saved, while Ji Meng burst into laughter before he even got up from the ground.

"You don't believe me at all, so what's the point of saying all this? You even believe Huo Xiao, whom you only met after coming to Taiyi, but you're unwilling to believe me, who's been with you since the National Academy!"

Ji Meng's throat was injured, and every word he spoke caused him to sweat profusely, yet he still shouted hoarsely at Gu Gan:

"If you had just talked to me properly when you doubted me back then, none of this would have happened!"

"In the end, you just don't believe me! You look down on me just like them!"

"You abandoned me first! Why should I be your dog for the rest of my life! I'll do whatever you say! But do you even treat me like a human being?!"

"Is that what you really think of me?" Gu Gan laughed in anger upon hearing these words. He walked towards Ji Meng, grabbed him by the collar, and pulled him up. His voice was icy cold. "Yes, I only did it because I pitied you. Are you satisfied now? If it weren't for me, you would have been beaten to death by your brothers long ago!"

Ji Meng: "That's better than being tricked and played with like a dog by you!"

Gu Gan tightened his grip: "Is this your reason for conspiring with Sui Sui? When...when did you start?!"

Ji Meng sneered at Gu Gan, "Why don't you go and ask Nangong Sui yourself!"

"What? You don't dare? Nangong Sui betrayed you first. He did everything. And you? You betrayed me too!"

Gu Gan suddenly shouted angrily: "You betrayed me first!"

"If she wanted the fragment, she should have just told me. Would I have refused her? But you and she conspired to make me look foolish! You and Wei Ren stole the fragment of the Floating Pagoda, while Sui Sui tried to kill me from the cloud chariot!"

Gu Gan: "Just because of the fragments, because of the yin-yang symbol! They abandoned our relationship of so many years!"

Ji Meng didn't even bother to explain that he hadn't done those things. He had long been heartbroken by Gu Gan's suspicion and distrust. At this moment, he just sneered, "You make it sound so nice! Nangong Sui wants the fragments and the Yin-Yang Pisces. Do you really think you'll give them to her? Nangong Sui and I are the people who know you best. You always say this, but when have you ever actually done it?"

"Come on, Nangong Sui isn't a good person, and you're not much better! You're all the same!"

Ji Meng roared at Gu Gan, who punched him in the face, leaving half of his face caved in.

"Good, good, good!" Gu Gan said "good" three times in a row. He stood up, the last trace of anger in his eyes receding, leaving only indifference. "Now your life is in my hands. If you want to live, do as I say."

With his mouth full of fallen teeth and blood, Ji Meng asked incoherently, "What can you threaten me with?"

"You've returned to the Ji family to eke out a living, isn't it because you don't want to die?" Gu Gan stared at him coldly.

Ji Meng grinned, his face covered in blood: "What do you want?"

“Take me to Black Castle,” Gu Gan said.

He looked up and said in a deep voice, "You'll have plenty of time to talk to me about Black Castle along the way."

Gu Gan and Xun Zhiya disguised themselves as members of the Ji family's medicine merchant corps and kidnapped Ji Mengwang, rushing to the swamp.

Yu Sui found the argument between the two amusing. She followed behind with a leisurely expression, feeling that Gu Gan was still the same as before.

Gu Gan doesn't really care about Ji Meng, but Ji Meng cares too much about Gu Gan, so Yu Sui's few lies can turn the two of them into what they are now.

For Gu Gan, Ji Meng was not his only good brother, but for Ji Meng, Gu Gan was his only good brother.

Because he was young and weak, he regarded Gu Gan as his lifeline, only to find that this lifeline would not save him alone.

“I was so worried for Ji Meng, afraid that Gu Gan would kill him in a fit of rage,” Yu Sui said.

Mei Liangyu glanced at the malicious person beside him: "He's not far from death. Once he successfully enters the well, Gu Gan will make his move."

They could all see that Gu Gan would not show mercy to those who betrayed him.

Gu Gan was vengeful, and after three years of silence, his heart was filled with even greater and more intense killing intent.

"That's why I said, if Gu Gan saw me, he would go crazy and kill me, and you still..." Before Yu Sui could finish speaking, Mei Liangyu lowered his head and kissed her.

When Gu Gan and his group arrived at the swamp, it was still dark. Ji Meng's face was covered in bruises; he kept his head down and remained silent.

Xun Zhiya and Gu Gan, disguised as members of a merchant caravan, followed behind him. They both heard Ji Hongxing's impatient voice: "Hurry up and send the people down, get out of this godforsaken place as soon as possible."

Ji Meng pushed aside the reeds blocking his way and was about to reach Ji Hongxing when he suddenly charged forward, knocking Ji Hongxing aside and shouting, "He's Gu Gan! Run!"

Ji Hongxing was nearly knocked off his feet by Ji Meng's jolting and dragging. Before he could even process what was happening, Gu Gan had already made his move.

Lightning flashed everywhere, like a snake wriggling, coiling around Ji Hongxing and pulling him back.

The caravan was mostly made up of healers, not skilled in combat. There were only three military strategists who drew their swords upon seeing the situation, but before they could react, their throats were slit by unseen wind blades.

Ji Hongxing, who was brought back by Razer, fell to the ground, feeling dizzy and unable to react, before being taken hostage by Xun Zhiya.

Ji Meng was sent flying by the lightning snake. Gu Gan flashed in front of him and the wind blade pierced through Ji Meng's chest, splashing large patches of bright red blood onto the reeds.

Looking at Ji Meng, who was barely clinging to life, Gu Gan asked in a cold voice, "How did you save Wei Ren when his light core shattered back then?"

Blood streamed from Ji Meng's eyes, his gaze filled with utter absurdity: "I...said..."

"I have no idea."

Gu Gan said no more, but let the wind blade shatter his Five Elements Light Core, and turned to leave without looking at Ji Meng again.

Ji Hongxing was pinned to the ground by Xun Zhiya's magic. He struggled to lift his head and look at the newcomer, gritting his teeth in anger: "Gu Gan? You dog, you're not dead!"

Gu Gan sneered, and Ji Hongxing tilted his head to look at Ji Meng, shouting, "Ji Meng! How dare you lie to me with Gu Gan! When I get back, I'm going to tell Grandmother, and then..."

Razer slapped Ji Hongxing across the face, and he screamed and fell back to the ground, his face covered in blood.

Ji Hongxing muttered curses under his breath. Gu Gan glanced at the three women huddled trembling in the carriage, stepped forward to untie their ropes, and said, "Let's go."

The three men looked at the corpses scattered on the ground and ran away in a panic.

“Everyone else is dead, so I’ll have to trouble Young Master Ji to accompany me to Black Castle.” Gu Gan grabbed Ji Hongxing by the collar, dragged him to the well, and threw half of Ji Hongxing’s body into the well.

"What are you doing, Gu Gan! I advise you to think twice! If my family finds out..." Before he could finish speaking, another scream accompanied by the lash of Razer's blade rang out.

"Do you think I'm afraid?" Gu Gan sneered at Ji Hongxing. "Your Ji family has done a lot of shady things. If I expose all of them, you're finished. You still have the nerve to threaten me with your family?"

Ji Hongxing's face was slashed open and bleeding profusely by Razer, making it difficult for him to even open his mouth and speak.

"Young Master Ji, I'm giving you a choice: take me to Black Castle to find someone, or die here and join your good brother Ji Meng on the road to the underworld. What do you say?"

He even killed Ji Meng?

Ji Hongxing asked incredulously, "You killed Ji Meng?"

Gu Gan replied coldly, "Is that not allowed?"

Ji Hongxing: "You even kill your own dog!"

Gu Gan pressed his head down and slammed it against the well opening, causing Ji Hongxing to scream.

"I'll count to three..."

"Alright! I'll take you down!" Ji Hongxing struggled to speak through his pain. "There are snow sickle worms in the well that strangle the five elements! Going down rashly will tear you to pieces!"

"Let me go first, let me get something out of the puzzle box!"

"Don't try anything funny," Gu Gan warned. He had sealed Ji Hongxing's light core, preventing him from using the Five Elements Qi.

Ji Hongxing took a porcelain bottle out of the mechanism box: "Pour it in."

Gu Gan: "Pour it yourself."

Ji Hongxing took a deep breath and endured it. He opened the porcelain bottle, and a foul odor wafted out, along with a large amount of hot white mist that drifted into the well.

Gu Gan heard the sound of a mirror shattering coming from the dark wellhead, rapid and frequent, lasting for about fifteen minutes.

Ji Hongxing looked into the well and said, holding the bottle, "That should be enough. If we encounter it again inside, we'll have to burn it with fire mist again."

"You come with me in front." Gu Gan said, carrying Ji Hongxing. When he turned to Xun Zhiya, his tone was much gentler. "Be careful behind me. Wait for my signal. Come down when everything is okay."

Xun Zhiya nodded.

Not long after Gu Gan went down, he sent Zi Lingfei back to the wellhead to report the news, and Xun Zhiya then followed him down.

After Xun Zhiya left, the ground became even quieter, and the once clear and clean water surface was now stained red with the blood of many people.

Yu Sui walked to Ji Meng's side, who was on the verge of death, and looked down at him. He should have died long ago, but after Gu Gan made his move, Yu Sui had the Five Elements Light Core monitoring him to keep Ji Meng alive until the very end.

If Gu Gan insists on waiting to see Ji Meng die, then Yu Sui will have no choice.

Yu Sui gave Ji Meng a divine soul core, but Ji Meng's condition was not good, and it was hard to say whether he was alive or dead.

Mei Liangyu said, "It depends on his own fate."

The two ignored it and went to explore the well. The Five Elements Light Cores that Yu Sui had released were still with Gu Gan and the others, and so far they hadn't encountered any danger.

The first layer at the bottom of the well is not very deep, but it has layers of tunnels extending downwards. Each time you go down to the next layer, there are more branches, like a complex honeycomb.

Each entrance was more or less the same, and no one knew where they would lead.

Yu Sui released hundreds and thousands of Five Elements Light Cores to explore the way, and almost 80% of the tunnels were filled with densely packed, invisible snow sickle insects.

The further you go, the lower the temperature gets, and you can almost hear the howling of the cold wind.

Mei Liangyu then had Yu Sui put on a fluffy cloak, wrapping her whole body in white fur, leaving only her pair of dark and lively eyes showing.

Yu Sui rubbed her hands together and said, "It is a bit cold."

Mei Liangyu took her hand again and walked forward. Yu Sui looked down in confusion and asked, "Why are your hands still so warm?"

"I'm naturally hot-bodied, something I can't envy."

Yu Sui: "Senior brother, you better not be using your internal energy to resist the cold to become so warm."

Mei Liangyu scoffed, "You really think I'm a sickly person? This little bit of energy is nothing."

Yu Sui frowned.

Mei Liangyu naturally changed the subject: "Why don't we have Wanqi lead them around this cave tomorrow? There's no need to let them go in and risk their lives."

“You don’t even dare to step forward to stop them, so how can you pray that Wanqi can do it?” Yu Sui said. “Senior brother, you also know that you can’t persuade them about this. If you had been captured by the Yan Kingdom, they would have gone to rescue you no matter what.”

Mei Liangyu remained silent for a moment without replying.

Yu Sui intertwined her fingers with his and asked, "Are you angry?"

“You’ve been trying to persuade me to go back all year,” Mei Liangyu said without turning around, still holding Yu Sui’s hand as they walked forward. “Are you tired of me?”

"You know that's not what I meant!" Yu Sui found his feigned resentment amusing. "I was selfish back then, that's why I asked you to leave with me."

“I told you to leave,” Bian Meiliangyu interrupted her.

Yu Sui said, "I don't want to consider other people's feelings, nor do I want to be responsible for other people's situations, and I don't want to save others, but senior brother, you can't do it."

She spoke her last words softly and grabbed Mei Liangyu's hand to make him stop.

"I've resolved most of my troubles, and I'm no longer afraid of anything from the past. I have plenty of time, so I don't want to give you up or let you drift too far away from me. But there are so many people in this world who need you. Senior brother, tell me the truth, after years of using the Harmony of Heaven and Earth extensively, your health has deteriorated significantly. Do you think... we have much more time?"

Yu Sui looked up at Mei Liangyu. In the dark passage, the firelight reflecting off the stone wall was weak, only able to illuminate the man's blurry facial outline, but not the emotions in his dark eyes.

Did you think about dying when you left with me?

"no."

"Have you been waiting for the day you die all these years with me?"

"no."

“If you die in front of me, I will hate you,” Yu Sui said, staring at Mei Liangyu, “I will hate you every single day of the rest of my life.”

Mei Liangyu's heart trembled as he looked at Yu Sui's unprecedentedly serious expression, the words that could almost tear his heart apart echoing in his ears. A belated sense of fear and pain crept into his heart.

He began to fear that this day would actually come.

Yu Sui only recently realized that the harmony between heaven and earth had caused problems with Mei Liangyu's body, but she was afraid that Mei Liangyu had already accepted her impending death, so she wanted to stay with her for the rest of her time.

Even if it means abandoning and betraying others.

She didn't want Mei Liangyu to die, nor did she want this kind of ending.

So she made Mei Liangyu face Xing Chun, wanting Mei Liangyu to have a reason to live besides "Yu Sui".

Mei Liangyu stared intently at Yu Sui. The moment their eyes met, he saw a burning flame in those extremely dark pupils, exactly the same flame that was prophesied by the divine tree.

When the two stopped, Gu Gan had already reached the end. Upon reaching the exit, a vast expanse of white stretched before him, with snow falling in abundance. In this entire world, only the black castle standing high in the distance, nestled among three snow-capped mountains, was the sole bright spot.

Gu Gan had just taken a step into the snow when he heard a sharp, urgent bell ringing in the air. The bell sounded like a death knell, making people restless and uneasy.

"What is it?" Gu Gan asked.

Before Ji Hongxing could answer, the old man's deep voice came from the air: "Which fearless rat dares to trespass here?"
