Chapter 443 Because we have bad bugs in our eyes
Ji Hongxing cursed at Gu Gan: "Why are you walking so fast? You stepped on the bell-shaped stone! Can't you wait until I finish speaking before you start..."
A black spear flew from the sky. Gu Gan flung Ji Hongxing aside, ignited his protective aura, and raised his hand to counter it with a palm strike.
The two massive air masses collided, shattering the snowflakes in the air.
Ji Hongxing scrambled to his feet, turned around, and ran back, but Xun Zhiya slapped him away, sending him tumbling into the deep snow and rolling down the snow slope.
Xun Zhiya had just formed a hand seal and gathered his energy when Gu Gan scolded him, "Don't make a move!"
He frowned after he finished speaking. The enemy didn't seem to be nearby. The spear formed from gathered energy was thrown from a great distance, at the exposed spot of the bell-shaped stone beneath their feet.
And this power... is either at the peak of the thirteenth realm or at the Saint realm.
Could there be a saint guarding this Black Castle?
"You little rascal, you've got some skills."
The deep, old man's voice echoed once more in the sky: "If you can't withstand this next move, you'll be buried here!"
The black spear that Gu Gan had intercepted suddenly trembled, and golden patterns suddenly appeared on its body. Golden incantations bloomed from the patterns, like thousands of giant mountains pressing down on Gu Gan.
It is a blessing from a master!
Gu Gan felt an intense pressure on his arm muscles, his bones cracking. Just as the other person's aura was about to overwhelm him, he decisively said, "Go!"
He didn't want to use the Divine Strategist Technique to expose his identity.
Xun Zhiya cooperated by throwing a purple talisman in front of Gu Gan. It was a top-level lightning-attracting talisman, which instantly released tens of millions of lightning bolts, blocking the black spear that was moving forward. This gave Gu Gan a chance to take Xun Zhiya and slip away from the cave entrance.
Just as Gu Gan and Xun Zhiya leaped away and arrived in the vast snowfield, the black spear charged towards the cave entrance, making a loud noise that shook the earth.
"Where do you think you're going!"
The person hiding behind the flying snow roared angrily, turned his black spear around, and sped off towards Gu Gan and his companion.
The five light cores that Yu Sui released were all affected and shattered when Gu Gan and the old man were fighting each other with their qi.
She released her light core again and headed towards the cave entrance, only to find that Gu Gan and Xun Zhiya were nowhere to be seen.
"They ran off somewhere."
Yu Sui led Mei Liangyu toward the exit, saying, "Gu Gan stepped on the bell-shaped stone, triggering a mechanism or magic circle, and was discovered by the people of Black Castle."
Mei Liangyu said, "Then let's not step on it."
As they walked and talked, Yu Sui skipped and hopped around the cave entrance, avoiding the bell-shaped stone and getting far away. But as she skipped, she heard the clicking sound of the mechanism again.
As Mei Liangyu looked up at her, the ground collapsed with a loud crash, and the two of them fell to the ground together.
Yu Sui grabbed Mei Liangyu's hand first, and the cold snowflakes fell on the two of them, obscuring their vision.
The feeling of disappointment only subsided after a long wait.
The two landed steadily and immediately saw the brightly lit underground city.
The streets were bustling with people, noisy and lively, the smell of alcohol mixed with the chill of the snow, three parts drunk and seven parts sober.
Mei Liangyu looked back and saw that there were no steps near the spot where she had fallen; it looked like a passageway where goods were thrown down from above.
Yu Sui stepped through the snow and walked forward. He saw the underground city, which was not snowing. It looked ordinary, but the more he looked at it, the more eerie it seemed.
Because 80% of the passersby have white eyes, just like Shi Yuezhen, their eyes are blind, hiding a deep abyss of venomous insects.
They all looked very young and moved freely. Some were lifeless, while others were full of energy. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that those with the "Benzhu" (a type of magical eye) were all in groups, at least in pairs, and never alone.
"Hey!" someone suddenly called out to Yu Sui, pointing at her fox fur coat and asking, "Selling it or not?"
The person asking the question was a girl who looked only seventeen or eighteen years old. Her eyes were white, but she was staring intently at the location where Yu Sui was.
The girl was accompanied by a man and a woman, who appeared to be older than her.
Before Yu Sui could answer, the man's expression turned wary: "You're not from the caravan?"
"Isn't that right?" the girl asked doubtfully.
"Let's go." The woman grabbed the girl's arm and whispered, "The caravan members won't come down empty-handed."
"But those clothes," the girl said, reluctant to part with them.
"Here you go," Yu Sui suddenly said. "The clothes are yours, no money needed."
Her eyes crinkled with a smile, making her appear innocent and adorable.
Du Zheng and Du Juan, the two siblings, looked at Yu Sui warily, and then saw Mei Liangyu coming out from behind. They tried to pull the girl, A Ling, away.
"I want it!" Ah Ling broke free from Du Juan and ran towards Yu Sui, stretching out her hands.
"Ah Ling!" Du Juan called out anxiously. Yu Sui grabbed Ah Ling's hand and discreetly examined the flow of the five elements within her body to see if it was the same as Shi Yuezhen's.
Seeing this, Du Zheng was about to make a move, but Mei Liangyu, who flashed in front of Yu Sui, grabbed his wrist and stopped him.
“I know you sneaked in,” Du Zheng warned in a low voice, “We don’t want to get involved. Let go of Ah Ling and leave!”
Yu Sui smiled at A Ling and said, "I'll give you another piece of clothing that you've never worn."
She gave Ah Ling a peach-pink coat from the puzzle box, a color and style that Ah Ling clearly preferred.
"Thank you!" When Ah Ling took the coat, she still gave Yu Sui a money pouch.
The girl's eyes were now only filled with terrifying whites. Unlike Shi Yuezhen's jade-like white right eye, A-Ling's eyes were more like a pale, desolate white.
Not only Ah Ling, but all the blind people on the street were almost as white as bones, and some even had a few strands of murky blood mixed in, making them look like defective products at first glance, not in the same league as Shi Yuezhen's.
"Do you have any other new gadgets?" Ah Ling asked Yu Sui. "I can buy anything!"
She didn't seem afraid of these two strangers who had suddenly entered the underground world at all.
"Ah Ling!" Du Juan said in a deep voice, "We have to go, we don't want to get involved with them!"
Ah Ling said, "Sister Juan, we can just pretend we didn't see them and wait until I finish shopping before we leave!"
After saying that, he looked at Yu Sui and asked, "Do you have one?"
Looking at the girl in front of her who was deliberately pretending to be innocent, Yu Sui asked her, "What do you want?"
"sugar?"
“Yes,” Yu Sui said, “but you can’t buy it with money. If you want a piece of candy, you have to answer one question for me.”
Ah Ling licked her lips: "Can I have one first? I want to taste if it's sweet."
Yu Sui smiled at her: "No, people without value can't eat sweet candy."
The Du siblings frowned upon hearing this.
"Okay, ask whatever you want to know!" Ah Ling conceded.
Yu Sui pointed to the top of the cave entrance: "Have you been up there?"
“No,” Ah Ling said. “It’s very cold up there, and once we get up there, we won’t be able to see anything.”
Yu Sui suddenly moved closer to her. A Ling instinctively tried to dodge, but was frozen in place by the invisible Five Elements Qi. She opened her eyes slightly and felt a cool hand caress her face, the moving fingertips slowly moving towards her eye sockets.
Du Zheng and Du Juan rushed forward at the same time, but were easily repelled by Mei Liangyu. Du Zheng's attack lacked skill and relied entirely on brute force.
As Yu Sui's fingertips approached her eye sockets, A Ling trembled slightly under the invisible pressure and the coolness brought by his fingertips.
"You smell of orchid poison on you." Yu Sui gazed into her eyes and said softly, "Is it the Resurrection Incense?"
Her fingertips pressed against Ah Ling's eyelids, and she could feel the eyes moving rapidly beneath the sebum, as if she were pressing down on a struggling worm.
"It hurts!" Ah Ling cried out in pain.
"Ah Ling!" Du Zheng was being held by Mei Liangyu and couldn't get close to Yu Sui. Hearing Ah Ling cry out in pain, he became frantic with worry.
Yu Sui released her grip and asked Ah Ling, "Are you manufacturing orchid poison underground?"
"I don't know what that is!" Ah Ling said angrily, "but you just said it's a resurrection incense, and it does look like an incense stick."
Yu Sui then asked, "Do you know what's wrong with your eyes?"
Ah Ling said, "Of course I know! It's because we have bad bugs in our eyes that we become different from other people!"
"What exactly do you want?!" Du Juan said fiercely. "If you don't let go of A-Ling, I'm going to..."
Before she could finish speaking, a clear bell rang out, and everyone in the underground city heard the urgent and crisp sound.
A deep male voice reported: "There are two intruders, a man and a woman!"
"Those who provide clues will receive three incense sticks! Those who apprehend the intruder will receive thirty incense sticks!"
"Everyone back! No one is allowed to linger outside. City Guards, immediately clear out the Black Street! Apprehend the intruders!"
As the final announcement was made, the bustling crowd on the street hurriedly dispersed and ran into the houses. Those with the Eye of No Pearl ran in the same direction to the second black castle at the end of the underground city.
"Are you the intruders Wang Jun is after?" Ah Ling asked fearfully, backing away and blocking Du Juan's path. "We won't tell on you! You should leave now!"
"Wang Jun?" Mei Liangyu looked towards Black Castle with a half-smile.
“Since you said you wouldn’t tell anyone, let’s go together.” Yu Sui pointed to the Black Castle. “We’re going there too.”
"You...you're going too? But Wang Jun is looking for you!" Ah Ling couldn't understand.
"Let's go." Yu Sui withdrew her Five Elements Qi and did not stop them.
Mei Liangyu had only taken a few steps with her when the girl called out urgently, "Wait!"
"Ah Ling! Stop causing trouble!" Du Zheng and Du Juan grabbed the girl from either side, trying to take her away, but Ah Ling struggled and shouted, "Only those who roll their eyes can enter the castle, you can't get in like this!"
Yu Sui stopped and turned to look at her: "What should we do? Will you help us?"
“Okay!” Ah Ling said, raising her hand. “Besides, you haven’t given me any candy yet!”
Yu Sui tossed her a handful of candy, which A Ling quickly caught. She heard Yu Sui ask, "How are you going to help us get in?"
Before Dujuan could stop her, A-Ling blurted out, "I can share the insects with you, so you can all turn into eye-rollers too!"
Yu Sui and Mei Liangyu exchanged a glance, but before they could speak, A Ling continued, "The insects I separated are harmless dead insects! They won't have much of an impact on you. You only need to give them a little bit of the Five Elements Qi to make them become like us, and Wang Jun won't be able to tell the difference."
Ah Ling said earnestly and proudly, "This is how I led caravans into the castle before, and I've never been discovered!"
Du Juan and Du Zheng both looked utterly defeated, as if Ah Ling had revealed some earth-shattering secret.
Yu Sui looked at A Ling for a while and said, "Okay, thank you then."
Ah Ling rolled her eyes: "I'm not helping you for nothing! You have to give me all the good food and pretty clothes you have on you!"
Yu Sui took Mei Liangyu's hand and said without turning her head, "Then let's go our separate ways."
"Oh!" Ah Ling exclaimed anxiously, "How are you going to get in without my help!"
"Wang Jun is a ruthless killer!"
"Wait! I just want pretty clothes!"
Seeing that Yu Sui still ignored her, A Ling gritted her teeth, chased after her, and shouted, "I just want candy!"
Yu Sui then stopped and looked back. They had reached the side of the street and could hear the loud noise of people and the rapid sound of horses' hooves. Wang Jun, wearing a black mask, appeared behind them, directing people to retreat into the houses and searching for a man and a woman who had broken in.
Seeing her stop, Ah Ling quickly ran forward and said, "Give me your hand!"
Yu Sui grabbed Mei Liangyu's hand and stretched it out. A Ling wiped two tears from the corner of her eye and patted them on the two of them: "Wipe them into your eyes!"
Mei Liangyu asked Yu Sui to wait, and he did so. It felt like a snowflake had entered his eyes. After the icy sensation subsided, Yu Sui saw that his dark pupils faded, leaving only a pale white color in his eyes.
Wang Jun spurred his horse forward, cracking his whip and shouting, "Get out of the way! Everyone from the workshop, go back! Go back!"
The whip struck the ground with a heavy thud, sending chills down one's spine.
Mei Liangyu pulled Yu Sui into his arms, turned his back to avoid the rushing Wang Jun, and when Yu Sui raised his head from his arms, his once beautiful, dark almond-shaped eyes were now only filled with a chilling white.
The Wang soldiers wearing black masks were similar to those Yu Sui had seen on the ground; their pure black masks, which covered their faces, bore numbers that represented their identities.
Yu Sui saw that the number of the team of Wang Jun that had just run past was already over five thousand.
Du Zheng and Du Juan shielded A Ling behind them. A Ling waved to Yu Sui and silently mouthed, "Come with me."
They mingled with the procession heading back to the castle workshop, and all the way they could hear Wang Jun shouting loudly, searching the whole city for someone.
The underground city is warmer than the upper level, but Ah Ling loves pretty clothes, so caravan members rarely come down there. Those who accidentally fall down or sneak in are quickly found and killed by Wang Jun.
Ah Ling successfully brought the caravan members into the castle without being discovered, but when they left the castle, they were discovered and killed by the royal army.
But Ah Ling didn't care; by then she had already gotten what she wanted.
This time too.
Ah Ling clutched Du Juan's sleeve, looking timid and frightened. But when she glanced at Yu Sui and the other person following behind, she slightly curled the corners of her lips, savoring the sweetness of the candy in her mouth.
