Chapter 17 Illegal Borrowing and Getting Away with It

The elder did not flip through the books, but lazily picked up the top one, "Basic Spiritual Energy Analysis", glanced at it casually, and then put it back on the pile of books: "I don't know if you are really learning, or just taking these books to pad the table." He yawned and continued to register with the brush.

"No, no!" Xiang Fan nodded repeatedly, his voice a mixture of uneasiness and flattery, "I will definitely study hard."

The elder ignored him and continued writing in the register. Halfway through, he suddenly stopped, looked up at the pile of books, and said with a hint of joking, "You borrowed quite a lot this time. Can you carry it all?"

Xiang Fan nodded quickly: "Sure, no problem at all!" He tried to straighten his back, trying to show an attitude of "these books are as light as a feather to me", but in fact his heart was beating fast, for fear that the elder would ask another question.

The elder looked at him for a few seconds, and finally waved his hand lazily: "Okay, remember to return the book on time and don't lose it."

Xiang Fan, as if granted amnesty, picked up his book and hurried toward the exit. He took every step carefully, as if treading on thin ice, fearing he would be stopped.

After exiting the Sutra Library, he finally breathed a sigh of relief, nearly throwing his books to the ground in celebration. He glanced back at the familiar bookshelf, his heartbeat gradually calming, but the nervousness still sent a chill down his spine. "That was a close call... I almost got caught."

He trotted back to his cabin, carrying the books, piled them on the table, and eagerly flipped open the "Thirty-Six Sword Styles of Lingxiao." The golden cover shone brightly under the spiritual light, and a faint glow of spiritual energy shone through the pages. Each page seemed to speak to him of an unfathomable power.

"This is... the 36 Lingxiao Styles!" Xiang Fan's fingers gently slid across the pages, his eyes filled with excitement and awe. He flipped to the first page, and the diagrams of the sword moves and the circulation of spiritual energy in the book left him mesmerized.

"So exquisite!" he muttered to himself, his fingers lingering on the page, as if trying to capture every detail of the pattern. "If I can master just three moves... my swordsmanship will surely improve by leaps and bounds!"

He flipped through the pages, becoming increasingly astonished, his heartbeat quickening. He was completely absorbed in the sword manual, oblivious to his surroundings. It wasn't until he reached the third page that his gaze was drawn to a peculiar passage. It described the integration of spiritual energy and formations, and the content bore a resemblance to the book he had just borrowed, "Analysis of Formation Patterns."

He subconsciously took out the formation book and read the two side by side, comparing them. The more he read, the more excited he became. The contents of the two books could actually complement each other and even further improve his psychic jammer.

"I see..." He stroked the pages of the book, and couldn't help but smile. "It seems that my jammer can be optimized to be more efficient. Next time, maybe I can get the book on the middle stage of foundation building!"

His eyes flashed with unprecedented confidence as he carefully placed the two books back on the table. He leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers lightly on the tabletop, and began to think about his next plan.
