Chapter 18: The Dilemma of Modifying the Red Flame Crystal

Late at night, the spiritual lamp in the cabin began to emit an unstable humming sound, as if protesting its overload. Xiang Fan's face was illuminated by the bluish glow of the screen, his eyes filled with confusion and fatigue. He tried again to adjust the output parameters of the Red Flame Crystal, but the result was the same familiar red text: "Configuration failed, please check the energy path."

"Failed again!" Xiang Fan couldn't help but scratch his hair in frustration, letting out a stifled whine. He leaned back in his chair, looking helplessly at the ceiling, muttering, "This broken crystal! The data is so impressive, why can't it even work with a basic mecha?"

He flipped through a pile of books: "Analysis of Spiritual Energy Flow," "Introduction to Energy Circuits," "Analysis of Advanced Psychic Drives"... The densely packed symbols and annotations on the pages now looked like some kind of incomprehensible esoteric book. Xiang Fan held his head, staring blankly at one page, his fingers mechanically tapping on the table, as if this could bring some inspiration.

His gaze shifted to the three-dimensional model of the Red Flame Crystal on the screen. The bright red crystal within it shimmered faintly, as if mocking him. Xiang Fan chuckled self-deprecatingly, "Such a beautiful thing, it seems I can only keep it for viewing. How about giving it to Shadow Killer and letting him hang it on the back of his mech as a night-light pearl?"

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but smile, although it was just a way to have fun.

Just as he was about to turn off the virtual screen, a "ding" sound suddenly rang out from the Spirit Realm mailbox, scaring Xiang Fan so much that he almost fell off his chair.

"Who's still sending messages this late?" He muttered, then casually opened his mailbox. What caught his eye was a message from Shadow Killer:

"Boss, have you been annoyed by crystals lately? Don't worry! I have a solution. There's a spiritual area here that specializes in solving this kind of problem. I guarantee we'll have what you need! Here's the link: [Private xxx.xxx]"

The message was accompanied by a smug little emoji, which made Xiang Fan's mouth twitch. He stared at the screen, eyebrows raised, and muttered, "This guy, who's usually so careless, actually thought of helping me... He's actually kind of reliable?"

"Okay, let's see what's special about the place he provided." Xiang Fan muttered to himself while looking at the link. "I hope it can be of some use."

Xiang Fan stared at the prompt on the screen, his lips twitching. "Insufficient permissions, please provide access code." The words carried an undeniable irony that made him want to slam his fist on the table.

"Private encryption?" He muttered softly, then a sneer appeared on his lips. "Shadow Killer, ah, Shadow Killer, the place you mentioned is actually hidden so deeply... It seems there really is something going on."

He rolled up his sleeves, revealing a worn but well-modified psychic control belt on his wrist. This was a homemade tool he used to connect directly to the spiritual realm system. His hands quickly tapped on the virtual keyboard, and a string of spiritual runes danced across the screen like a brilliant display of runic fireworks.

"This encryption method..." Xiang Fan stared closely at the flow of runes on the screen and touched his chin. "It should be a multi-layered spiritual energy path. To crack this structure, you need a spiritual energy reflection circuit. I just happened to see it in the book 'Spiritual Energy Flow and Blockage'."

He quickly activated a custom-made psychic decryption program. The runes on the screen began to flow faster, and the red warning sign flashed continuously. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, but his heart was filled with joy.

"Oh, the more complicated things are, the more fun they are." Xiang Fan's fingers danced across the keyboard, his mood like he was solving a tricky puzzle. Suddenly, he captured a key spiritual energy path and quickly hit the enter key.

The screen flashed suddenly, and the message changed to "Authorization Verification Passed." A flash of white light appeared, and the entrance to the spiritual realm appeared before him.

"Done." He clapped his hands proudly, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and felt relieved. "It seems the place this Shadow Killer found was not exaggerated. He actually used this encryption method. It feels worth it."

He donned the spiritual connection device and entered the Zero Point Mech's control cabin. He expertly adjusted the flow of spiritual energy and activated the mech. With a slight humming sound, his consciousness was transported to the connected area.

Upon entering the spiritual realm, Xiang Fan was greeted by a thick fog, which reduced his field of vision to just a few meters. He activated his Zero Point Mech's optical detectors and discovered that the surrounding terrain was blurred, as if it were shrouded in some unknown energy field.

"This place... is truly eerie." Xiang Fan glanced around cautiously as he slowly advanced in his mecha. His fingers were glued to the joystick, and he was fully engaged in combat.

As they walked, they could hear a faint vibration from the ground beneath their feet. The mecha's detector emitted a faint beeping alarm. Xiang Fan frowned, "This vibration... is there something buried down there?"

He maneuvered the mech into a crouching position, using sensors to probe the ground. A moment later, a blurry diagram of the underground structure appeared on the screen. Looking at the complex pipes and spiritual energy pathways, his eyes lit up. "It's actually a spiritual energy supply system... This place is truly remarkable."

Xiang Fan stood up and continued exploring. Not far away, his detectors picked up the outlines of strange, tall structures, resembling massive towers. Thicker fog enveloped those towers, and occasionally, flickering points of spiritual energy flashed by.

"This is..." Xiang Fan widened his eyes, vaguely feeling that these devices were not ordinary buildings, but more like an extremely complex psychic equipment.

He maneuvered the mech closer, trying to get a better look. However, before he could get closer, the Zero Mech's psychic alarm suddenly rang sharply—

"Warning! High-energy reaction! Unknown spiritual energy fluctuations!"

Xiang Fan was startled and quickly maneuvered his mech back a few steps, activating his psychic shield. The next second, a bright beam of spiritual energy suddenly swept out from the fog ahead, piercing directly through the spot where he had just stood.

"What the hell!" Xiang Fan shouted, his heartbeat suddenly accelerating. "Shadow Killer, is this the 'treasure place' you mentioned?!"

A huge psychic structure vaguely appeared in the fog, with complex spiritual patterns flashing on its surface, as if it was guarding something important.

Xiang Fan glanced at the trace left by the attack beam, gritted his teeth, and muttered to himself: "Although it's a bit dangerous, it must be a big treasure... It seems I have to find a way to get around it."

He took a deep breath, readjusted the mecha's psychic output, held his breath, and began to formulate a stealth circumvention strategy. This time, he was not going to give up easily, especially after cracking such a complex encryption link.
