Chapter 16 You Are Her

After insulting the disgusting person, Nangong Zixin sped to the military base. She barged directly into the presence of the high-ranking leaders, her aura in no way inferior to anyone else present.

"Miss Nangong, you really can't come in."

Everyone looked at the commander's daughter who had barged in, and they were all very confused.

As countless gazes swept over him, the soldier inwardly groaned, "Why do all these unlucky things happen to me?"

"Report, I've stopped Miss Nangong, but she forced her way in." The soldier knew that in this situation, they should stop her at all costs, and if necessary, shoot her dead. But she was the commander's daughter; who would dare?

Commander Nangong was furious at his daughter's tactless intrusion. "Zixin, do you know what you're doing?"

Once he was in a high position, no one dared to challenge his authority, and this violent roar startled everyone present.

Nangong Zixin glanced at her father casually. "Do you know what I did today? I went to disrupt Li Xinye's wedding. But unexpectedly, his new wife seems unhappy with him. Before I even made a move, it was already a complete mess. Which saying does this prove?"

His gaze was calm, but his words were directed at Shen Shiyi.

As if remembering something, he said, "Oh, good people get good rewards, and bad people get bad rewards." He stared at her intently, but saw no difference, his expression remaining cold and indifferent.

He casually grabbed a document, slammed it on the table, and braced himself against the wooden surface. "Do you know what's inside?"

I refuse to believe you'd be so indifferent. "It's an examination. I opened Bing'er's cenotaph and took out a lock of her hair."

Everyone stared at her intently. What? The commander's daughter actually dug up someone's grave? Oh my god.

That's unbelievable! Wow, no wonder she's the daughter of a commander, she's incredibly audacious.

Upon hearing this, Commander Nangong was shocked. This rebellious daughter had actually done something so outrageous.

Enraged, he slammed his fist on the table. "Nangong Zixin, what did you just say?! You actually robbed your best friend's grave! How could you do something so outrageous?! Are you trying to kill me with anger?! Ah, how could I, Nangong Honghai, have given birth to a daughter like you?"

Commander Nangong was so angry that he trembled and his veins bulged. But Nangong Zixin was completely unaffected by him.

"Aren't you going to open it and take a look? Are you scared or what?"

He tore open the file folder and took out the hair follicle analysis results. "99% hair follicle analysis, Bing'er, you still won't admit it?"

The other officers were horrified. Good heavens, she'd come back from the dead! Lieutenant Colonel Shen really was Su Bing'er; the car had exploded, yet she had escaped death—this miracle...it was truly astonishing.

Qin Ziming was also incredibly excited. When he heard the news, he quickly snatched the document, and when he saw the data inside, he almost couldn't stand up. That girl from before hadn't died! They were comrades-in-arms, having shared life and death for so many years. No wonder he always felt a familiar feeling about her. It was the same person! It was unbelievable.

Shen Shiyi remained completely unfazed, simply uttering a nonchalant, "So what?"

So what if Nangong Zixin heard what she said? She admitted it; she admitted it herself.

Nangong Zixin suddenly burst into tears. "Why? Why? You were alive and you didn't tell us. I was your best friend, your best sister, your best older sister. You didn't even tell me. Tell me!" She uncontrollably punched her, as if she wanted to release all the pain of so many years at once.

"Why? I'm your older sister, and you won't let me do anything for you, you know? For so many years, I've been blaming myself for not protecting my younger sister and letting her die, but in the end she didn't die. But she escaped death, why didn't you tell me?"

Nangong Zixin pounded and punched wildly like a shrew.

"Zixin, calm down." Commander Nangong couldn't bear to blame his daughter when he saw her in such pain and distress; after all, she was his own flesh and blood.

"You shouldn't be like this. This isn't you, the gentle and quiet Bing'er. Give her back to me. She wasn't as cold-blooded and ruthless as you. She never had such terrifying eyes." "Why?" The woman before him was completely different from the girl in his memory.

Shen Shiyi's expression, unchanged for many years, is now calm and composed after the revelation of the matter. Her gaze is level, as if she were looking at a stranger looking at her former best friend.

After a long, long time, she finally uttered a sentence: "Was she alright like that?" It was as if she was reminiscing about the past, or as if she had seen through something.

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of her lips. It was probably the first time her comrades had seen her smile in all these years. Sadly, the smile held such bitterness, helplessness, and sorrow.

"The Su Bing'er of the past knew nothing. Yes, she was gentle, quiet, elegant, and poised, like a beauty stepping out of a painting. She laughed every day like an innocent child, as if any difficulties or setbacks could be easily laughed off. But was it really good for her to be so naive and innocent, like a blank sheet of paper? Is that the version of her you liked?"

Memories are always painful; they are wounds that can never be healed.

Nangong Zixin was stunned.
