Mystery Journey (14)
Shi Ting?
Shi Jianxia tried hard to open her eyes wide, trying to see the person approaching, but her vision was hazy, as if through a layer of foggy glass. She couldn't see the person's appearance at all. She could only sense in a vague silhouette that the other person was wearing a white coat and was looking at her with a curious look.
Gurgle gurgle.
The sound of bubbles rushing upwards was heard, and Shi Jianxia felt that she was floating on some liquid. She tried to move upwards, but could not break free from the restraint of the liquid. She tried to move forward again, but felt a strong sense of barrier.
Is she trapped in some container?
Before Xia Duoxiang could see anything, a blurry shadow approached, less than half a meter away from her.
Shi Ting raised his hand and gently touched her through the transparent container. Although there was no direct contact between the two, Shi Jianxia seemed to feel the temperature of her fingertips.
She jumped back in shock.
Shi Ting was slightly stunned by her reaction, then quickly withdrew his hand and soothed her in a softer voice, "Little one, are you scared?"
She was very gentle. Even though Shi Jianxia couldn't see her face clearly, he could sense a smile on her lips, like a spring breeze.
Shi Jianxia felt a little subtle in his heart.
She wasn't actually afraid, she was just not used to such close contact with the other person. In her cognition, all creatures except her mother were dangerous and would strangle her in the cradle before she grew up.
Instinct made her float in the center of the culture medium, avoiding contact with the woman outside the experimental tank.
Shi Ting smiled and whispered, "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you. But you have to be good, or you won't suffer."
It is still an egg and can only participate in limited experiments. It is best to raise it and find a way to communicate with it.
If the Zerg could communicate with humans, perhaps the situation of large-scale invasion of federal territory could be reversed.
This special egg might be an opportunity.
Shi Jianxia felt quite awkward seeing her staring at him in a daze, so he twisted his round body and faced her with his butt to show that he didn't like the idea of being stared at.
But Shi Ting obviously didn't understand what she meant, and even commented to his colleague beside him in a serious tone, "This little guy is quite lively."
Shi Jianxia felt inexplicably blocked in his heart, and simply floated motionless in the culture medium, trying to prove with his actions that he was not lively at all.
Shi Ting didn't notice her temper and took her to a separate lab, isolating her from the other samples. After noticing she hadn't moved for several days, he stood in front of the experimental tank and asked, "Little one, do you like a more lively environment? Are you lonely being an egg? Why are you so still?"
If the instrument had not shown that the egg still had vital signs, Shi Ting would have suspected that it was unable to adapt to the culture medium and had become a dead egg.
Shi Jianxia ignored her words, adjusted the direction and continued to face her with his butt.
Shi Ting saw her move a little and chuckled softly, "What are you thinking about, little one?"
The amber eggs lay motionless.
Shi Ting didn't care about her attitude. Every day when he came to observe her, he would always mutter about some little things in life, some of which she could understand but some she couldn't.
For example, Shi Ting encountered difficulties in a research project she was conducting. Dr. Shi was not in the T Institute recently, but she always sent people to follow her.
Perhaps because she felt she didn't understand, she only mentioned a little about these things and then stopped talking about them, and then asked about things related to her.
For example, they might ask if it's lonely, why it's so still, how it ended up in the Doctor's hands, where its family is, and what the Zerg universe looks like.
She didn't seem to like the person called Doctor, and would quickly avoid the question every time it was mentioned.
When Shi Jianxia listened to those incoherent soliloquies, she couldn't help but think things like 'She's so weird', 'She's so annoying', 'Why is she saying all this nonsense'.
As the days passed, she found herself getting weaker. She was unable to absorb the culture medium which was extremely nutritious for human cells. As the energy consumed in her body could not be replenished, she became increasingly weaker and her consciousness became drowsy.
Shi Ting noticed her change and seemed to be saying something to her through the experimental tank, but her consciousness was groggy and she could only hear distant accents and could not make out her words clearly. Her already unclear vision became even more blurred.
She fell into a deep sleep, and was enveloped by a strong and warm breath in a trance. She didn't know how much time had passed before she heard Shi Ting's voice again, from hazy to clear.
"Little guy, it turns out you are a little bee, a golden little bee, much more beautiful than your fellow bees."
Shi Jianxia opened her eyes and saw a clear face. The woman in the white coat had a gentle expression. She was standing in front of the experimental tank with her arms crossed. Her long black hair was tied into a bun, which inadvertently added a bit of clean and neat temperament to her.
She saw her own reflection in the glass jar, a bee the size of a finger, with curved antennae and wings that were a transparent golden color. It was a very beautiful bee.
"You really can eat." Shi Ting gently touched her head through the glass jar, the corners of his lips slightly raised, and his words were full of teasing.
Shi Jianxia was dizzy and couldn't figure out what was happening. He turned his head and happened to see a dark purple diamond-shaped crystal that was more than a person tall and was placed in the laboratory and isolated by a transparent cover.
It was half floating on an altar. Even though it was deliberately isolated, Shi Jianxia could clearly sense the tremendous energy it emanated.
Looking at the diamond-shaped crystal, she couldn't help but feel a strong desire and an indescribable fear in her heart.
Every day that followed, Shi Ting would use the altar to extract the power of the diamond crystal, mix it with his own blood, and feed her.
Shi Jianxia couldn't resist the temptation of blood. As soon as he smelled the scent, he couldn't wait to swim over and swallow it into his stomach, which gave him a strong sense of satisfaction. His body size also grew from the size of a finger to the size of a fist.
Every once in a while, the man whom Shi Ting called Doctor would come over, always with a look that made her feel very uncomfortable, making her feel like a lamb on the chopping board.
She felt her strength growing day by day, and Shi Ting's eyes looking at her became more and more complicated.
One day, Shi Jianxia woke up from her sleep and felt a strong shaking, as if something was violently hitting the space she was in. She vaguely sensed a familiar breath, but because she was trapped in the experimental tank, she could not respond.
As the earth shook, Shi Ting hurriedly ran in from outside the laboratory. Someone was calling her name and trying to drag her away by force, but she pulled out a dagger, stabbed the man's arm and took the opportunity to escape.
Shi Ting rushed into the laboratory regardless of anything and wanted to take the experimental jar containing Shi Jianxia away with her, but the experimental jar was too heavy and she couldn't lift it.
The man she stabbed walked in quickly, clutching his wound. "Why would you bother with this bug at this point? Maybe it attracted all those bugs outside! You'll only get yourself into trouble if you keep it with you!"
The other party reached out to pull her again, but Shi Ting suddenly shook his hand away. "I can already communicate with it! This means that humans and Zerg can communicate! If we can contact the higher-level Zerg related to it, maybe we can get a chance for peace talks-"
"Ha? Are you kidding? After the Zerg invaded the human universe, they occupied those fallen planets with an almost overwhelming advantage. What can we use to negotiate with them? They are just a bunch of bugs! A group of bugs that only know how to plunder and parasite!"
The man's words were like a heavy hammer hitting Shi Ting's heart. She bit her lower lip tightly, her expression complicated and stubborn.
Perhaps she was not unaware of this, but she still held a glimmer of hope in her heart.
Shi Jianxia looked at the two people who were in a brief stalemate through the experimental jar. He wanted to say something but found that his mind was blank and he couldn't say anything.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A loud crashing sound rang out again, and the man grabbed Shi Ting's shoulder. "Don't waste time here! This bug shouldn't be alive. The doctor is not here, so whether it's gone or dead, it has nothing to do with us!"
Shi Ting staggered a few steps as he was dragged away, but looked back unwillingly.
Shi Jianxia lay quietly in the experimental tank, looking at her through the transparent glass. There was a hint of sadness in his bright golden compound eyes, and his heart felt like it was being pressed by a heavy stone, making it difficult for him to breathe.
This emotion came suddenly and seemed not to belong to her.
The distance between Shi Jianxia and Shi Ting was getting farther and farther, while the familiar sound waves were getting closer and closer. She flew up uncontrollably, wanting to fly to Shi Ting, but was blocked by the experimental tank. She could only bump against the inner glass wall like a headless fly.
Shi Ting pursed her lips tightly, grabbed the laboratory door tightly, and stopped in her tracks. "Let me go! I want to take it with me. I raised it! It's very well behaved. When I'm in a bad mood, it flies around to cheer me up and even praises me for being beautiful. It's different from other Zerg!"
"Can you communicate with it?" The man turned his head, raised his voice, his tone full of disbelief, and his eyes gradually became dangerous.
Shi Ting watched his suddenly changed expression and chuckled softly, saying, "That's right. Ever since it hatched from the egg, I've been able to communicate with it. What? Are you going to tell the doctor about this?"
The man had a gloomy face, his attention completely attracted by Shi Ting's words, and he didn't notice that her hand holding the door had already activated the laboratory control system.
The experimental jar that trapped Shi Jianxia suddenly popped open. She rushed out quickly, and the wings behind her vibrated to form a golden wind blade, heading straight for the man who was about to enter the laboratory.
He was caught off guard by the wind blade, his pupils dilated sharply, and he wanted to use mimicry to resist, but it was too late. His head and body were separated on the spot, leaving a bloody trail.
Shi Ting was so frightened by the bloody scene that he took a step back and quickly raised his hand to cover his mouth to suppress the scream that was about to come out.
She turned around to look at the little bee as big as a fist, took a deep breath and said, "Little guy, go back to your world. If..."
She paused, as if pinning her hopes on a distant, almost impossible dream, and whispered, "If one day you can gain a place among the Zerg, please restrain your people and stop them from invading this universe."
Shi Jianxia looked at her, slowly flew over, and wanted to kiss her cheek.
Just at this moment, a crack appeared on the outer wall of the laboratory, and a mantis knife cut in. A giant mantis that was two meters tall let out a sharp scream, and the terrifying sound waves rushed straight towards Shi Ting!
Shi Jianxia suddenly opened his eyes wide and subconsciously stood in front of Shi Ting. A golden shield rose up and blocked the deafening sound waves in time.
But she was too weak to withstand the attack of the giant mantis, and she showed signs of weakness in just a few seconds.
Just as the sound waves were about to break through the shield, a deep blue water barrier rose up!
The sound waves disappeared into thin air in the surging water, and a deafening dragon roar suddenly sounded. The ferocious and dangerous Blue Sea Dragon rushed out from behind Shi Ting and bit the giant mantis fiercely!
The giant mantis was no match for the Azure Mosasaur and was knocked straight out of the laboratory.
Shi Ting looked back blankly in the cool mist, and met a pair of eyes with a faint blue light.
A young officer wearing colonel's epaulettes walked out of the dark corridor. He had neat short hair, a high nose bridge, and handsome eyebrows. He was like a ray of light, illuminating the filthy laboratory.
Facing Shi Ting's nervous gaze, he glanced at the ID badge pinned to her chest and said in a steady and powerful voice, "Colonel Xia Yuanji of the Cloudshang Corps is here to support us. Ms. Shi Ting, are you okay?"
