Mystery Journey (15)

Mystery Journey (15)

The young officer was calm and composed. He stood there like a stabilizing force. Shi Ting subconsciously shook his head, "I'm fine."

Before the two could say anything more, there was another violent shaking outside the laboratory. Shi Ting hurriedly looked at the little bee, wanting to say something but stopping himself.

Xia Yuanji is a federal officer, and the little bee is an important research sample in the laboratory. It is impossible for her to let the little bee leave in front of Xia Yuanji.

Shi Jianxia noticed her thoughts and did not leave as she had intended. Instead, she flapped her wings and flew in front of her, then staggered and fell down as if she was exhausted. Shi Ting was so frightened that she quickly raised her hands to hold her.

It fell into Shi Ting's palm as she wished. She tilted her head slightly and rubbed her fingertips, trying to please him.

Xia Yuanji looked at the scene before him, his eyes flickering slightly, but he didn't ask any more questions. Instead, he said, "This place is about to be breached. We need to leave quickly."

Shi Ting looked at the little bee lying obediently in her palm with a little hesitation. It had no intention of leaving. After receiving her gaze, it rolled over in her hand, which was very different from its previous cold attitude when it always turned its butt towards her.

She suddenly realized.

The little bee didn't want to leave.

There was another violent shaking, and a shrill sound that could almost pierce the eardrums came through the layers of walls. A muffled clanging sound came from deep in the passage, as if something was approaching.

The cold blue water breath gathered from the depths of the passage. Xia Yuanji's expression changed slightly. He decisively reached out to grab Shi Ting's waist, tapped the ground with his toes, and quickly left in the other direction of the passage, stepping on the layers of ripples.

Shi Ting's body suddenly felt weightless, and she subconsciously raised her hand to hold his shoulder. A slightly cool breath blew against her face, and the sound of the heart beating steadily in the strong chest reached her ears, bringing her a strong sense of security.

She raised her head and happened to see Xia Yuanji's perfectly shaped jaw.

When Shi Jianxia emerged from her palm, she happened to see her looking at Xia Yuanji. A subtle feeling of suffocation arose in her heart, as if something she liked had been taken away by someone.

She drooped her head dejectedly, and even her wings drooped.

The process of leaving the laboratory was not smooth, as a large number of Zerg appeared in front of them and chased and blocked them.

Fortunately, Xia Yuanji was very powerful and he killed all the gods and Buddhas that stood in his way. He brought Shi Ting out in time before the laboratory was completely captured. However, they were separated from the team due to the pursuit of the Zerg and stranded on an island.

Shi Jianxia had not yet recovered from her depressed mood, and she lay on Shi Ting's shoulder with her tentacles drooping.

Noticing someone's gaze on her, she weakly raised her head and met Xia Yuanji's slightly scrutinizing gaze.

She immediately stood up straight, the antennae on her forehead trembling slightly, revealing a bad mood, but Xia Yuanji didn't get the message she wanted to convey at all. She propped up one leg and held her chin with one hand and said, "This little bee is so cute."

The little bee with the "cute" label on its forehead paused its trembling antennae for a moment, then moved even more vigorously, as if it wanted to refute something.

Shi Ting smiled and said, "Of course, it's not only cute, but also very well-behaved. Isn't it, little bee?"

She bent her finger and placed it in front of the little bee. Its antennae completely stopped trembling. It looked up at her, then came over and rubbed her fingertips obediently.

Shi Jianxia tried to look at Xia Yuanji next to her, but there was only Shi Ting in her field of vision. A subtle feeling arose in her heart, and she vaguely felt that she seemed to have forgotten something.

The intelligent computer signal was lost, and Xia Yuanji's aircraft was damaged by the Zerg during the battle. The two could only stay on the island and wait for rescue from the Cloud Legion.

For three whole days, Shi Jianxia found herself either glaring at Xia Yuanji or wanting to glare at him. He always said something she couldn't understand, but those words usually made Shi Ting laugh out loud, a change from her mental state that seemed to be suppressing something in the research institute.

She helplessly realized that Shi Ting was very happy and relaxed, like a bird out of a cage that suddenly saw the vastness of the world and met other beautiful birds.

She was happy for Shi Ting, but also disappointed that this change was not brought about by herself, so she was very jealous of the talkative young officer.

On the morning of the fourth day, the light of the stars fell on the sea, rippling the waves. Xia Yuanji's intelligent brain communication was restored, and he had contacted the search and rescue team of the Cloud Legion. They would arrive soon.

When Shi Ting heard the news, he was stunned for a few seconds, and even the joy of seeing Chu Yang was reduced by half.

Xia Yuanji keenly noticed her mood change and couldn't help asking, "What's wrong?"

In just three days, Xia Yuanji took her hunting on the island, taught her how to shoot, how to wait for the prey to be caught in the net, and how to kill it with the final blow. He also took her to process the prey and experience the picnic that Shi Ting had only seen in books before.

Shi Ting shook his head. "I've been staying at the research institute for many years, and I've never had such a reckless time. I'm a little reluctant to leave here."

At the end of her words, she smiled.

This brief accident may be the best experience in her life.

Xia Yuanji sensed her low mood and recalled that before he joined the rescue mission, his direct superior had repeatedly urged him to rescue a researcher named "Shi Ting". He guessed that her identity might be extraordinary.

He should have stepped back and stayed where he was supposed to be, but seeing that the relaxed and happy look on her face was gone, he said inexplicably, "If you like, I'll bring you here again later."

Shi Ting looked at him in surprise, and then revealed a look of joy, "Okay!"

She gave this reply subconsciously, and when she thought of her situation, a hint of annoyance appeared between her brows.

Facing Xia Yuanji's inquiring gaze, Shi Ting pursed her lips and said, "I... I don't really have the ability to manage my time freely."

Even in the heavily guarded research institute, she was always accompanied by someone. She could only get a little free time when she was with Little Bee or when she returned to the dormitory to rest at night.

Xia Yuanji was not expecting to hear this answer. Looking at Shi Ting's lost expression, he thought for a moment, raised his hand and handed her a scale emitting a cold blue luster.

"What is this?" Shi Ting was completely attracted by the scales.

It has a translucent jade-like luster, and the color gradually deepens from the outside to the inside. As the light changes, it switches between transparent and dark blue, like a carefully crafted work of art.

Xia Yuanji replied, "This is my mimicry mark. If you want to come out and play, just tap on its surface three times. I will come to you, quietly bring you out, and then quietly send you back."

When he said the last sentence, he winked mischievously, completely shedding his mature and steady temperament and showing the vitality that a young man should have.

Shi Ting opened his eyes slightly and was about to take the scale when the little bee, which had been ignored for a long time, finally couldn't suppress its eagerness and landed on the scale with its wings vibrating.

It raised its short, bamboo-like legs and stepped on the scales to show its dislike for them.

But it is too small, and doing such things will only look cute without any deterrent effect.

Shi Ting swept away his previous annoyance and chuckled softly, "Little Bee, do you like to come out and play too?"

Xia Yuanji looked at the little bee that never paid any attention to him and always pushed its butt towards him, and felt that it probably didn't mean that, but he didn't say anything.

He put the little bee and the scales into Shi Ting's palm.

“When you’re feeling down, put it to your ear and you can hear the echo of the tide.”

It happened that the early morning sun shone through the treetops. Xia Yuanji stood in the light, with tenderness in his eyebrows and eyes.

Shi Ting stared at it for a moment, until the little bee fluttered its wings and swayed in front of her eyes, then she suddenly realized her loss of composure, and quickly turned her head away, with an uncontrollable blush rising to the base of her ears.

Xia Yuanji also coughed lightly, feeling rather uneasy. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a small bee standing in front of Shi Ting. Its yellowish appearance made it look like a light bulb.

He blinked slightly, trying to change the subject and ease Shi Ting's discomfort, so he aimed his 'dagger' at the bee-shaped light bulb, "Isn't it a bit inappropriate to always call it 'little bee, little bee'? Should we give this little guy a name?"

Shi Ting uttered a "Hmm?" and successfully shifted his attention to the flitting bees.

She said in distress, "I don't know what to name it. I wanted to call it Xiao Huang before, but it almost broke the experimental tank."

Shi Jianxia: "..."

The corners of Xia Yuanji's lips lifted uncontrollably. "It probably won't like this name."

Shi Ting tucked her hair away, a hint of embarrassment in her eyes, "I'm not very good at naming."

As a Zerg researcher, she is exposed to various technical terms and complex research materials every day. Her life is boring and uninteresting, and her imagination for beauty can be described as lacking.

"Why don't you give it a name?" Shi Ting slightly tightened the scales in her hand. The warm touch penetrated her skin and into her blood vessels, as if it could warm her cold fingertips.

The little bee immediately stood up and flew faster with its vibrating wings, almost writing the word "rejection" on its forehead. However, it flew like this whether it was happy or unhappy, and was unable to accurately express its meaning.

Xia Yuanji suppressed a smile and looked at the young girl in front of him who was radiating the glow of the early sun. He recalled how she was panic-stricken but trying hard to remain calm in the dark laboratory a few days ago.

"Call me day? May your world be bright forever."
