Chapter 27 Using Nuclear-Powered Cruise Missiles

"Lao Fang, this can't be true, right?" Xue Hai still said with some disbelief.

"Show Commander Xue the video of the UFO attacking the rocket!" Academician Fang said to the operator beside him, his voice calm but unable to conceal his solemnity.

Watching the instantaneous destruction of the rocket, Xue Hai began to wonder just how powerful that laser was. His brow furrowed, his eyes fixed intently on the screen, attempting to glean some clue from the fleeting image. He pondered the possible corresponding level of Earthly technology, but to no avail, a growing sense of unease grew within him.

On the big screen, a UFO was approaching the sky above the United States. It was slowing down, and a large group of U.S. fighter jets quickly took off, rapidly approaching the UFO. The UFO's shape was smooth and mysterious, emitting a cold metallic luster. In the sunlight, it was particularly eye-catching and exuded an awe-inspiring aura.

Radio waves were sent towards the UFO, but there was no response.

Over the oceans of the United States, a UFO hovered silently like a god of death from an unknown realm, emitting a chilling, cold metallic sheen. As American fighter jets roared and swooped down from all directions, it was like a killing machine with its trigger pulled, instantly initiating its deadly attack sequence.

Instantly, the surface of the UFO flashed with blindingly bright light, the prelude to the impending laser fire. Immediately thereafter, laser beams, each as tangible as lightning, shot out, each a line of pure destructive energy, extending unerringly towards the fighters. The metal shells of the fighters struck by the lasers melted like fragile paper, instantly pierced by the intense heat. The wings of the fighters began to disintegrate first, as if torn away by invisible giant hands, dissolving into strands of molten metal that drifted through the air. The cockpit glass also instantly vaporized under the intense heat of the lasers, and the pilots were devoured by the destructive force before they could even utter a scream.

These once majestic fighter planes, now like kites with broken strings, trailed long black plumes of smoke as they plummeted from the sky in a near-vertical pattern, like dumplings. They disintegrated as they fell, and debris rained down on the sea below, creating massive splashes. The UFO remained quietly suspended there, as if this were merely a minor demonstration. The entire ocean sky was enveloped by this sudden disaster.

The United States also issued the order to retaliate. The fighters swiftly returned fire, missile after missile, trailing long flames, roaring towards the UFO. However, the UFO seemed to be surrounded by an invisible shield. The missiles were detonated by some force the moment they approached the UFO, bursting into a shower of dazzling but useless sparks that scattered throughout the air, causing no damage to the UFO. Meanwhile, their fighters continued to fall. Inside the United States' military command center, everyone watched the scene on the screen, looking at each other in horror. They knew full well that the UFO before them possessed a power far greater than they had imagined.

"Immediately launch high-energy laser beams and use lasers to fight lasers. At the same time, ask for help from all countries on Earth!" The top leaders of the United States made decisions quickly, their faces gloomy.

Powerful, high-energy laser beams blazed down from various bases across the United States toward the flying saucer. The light was dazzling, like countless bolts of lightning tearing through the dark sky. These laser beams contained immense energy, burning and distorting the air wherever they passed, emitting a sizzling sound.

However, facing the counterattack from the United States, the UFO showed no sign of retreating. Its surface shimmered with light, forming an invisible shield. The powerful laser beams vanished without a trace the moment they came into contact with it, like a stone sinking into the sea. They did not cause any substantial damage to the UFO.

In the command center of the United States, when people saw this scene, their hearts sank to the bottom and fear began to spread among the crowd.

"Use electromagnetic railguns and hypersonic missiles!" The top leaders of the United States issued orders and instructions again. Their voices were almost roaring, and veins bulged on their foreheads.

Electromagnetic railgun shells whizzed out like meteors, tearing through the sky with powerful kinetic energy and destructive power. Hypersonic missiles followed closely behind, trailing long tails of flame as they rushed towards the flying saucer at astonishing speed.

However, these seemingly powerful weapons were easily repelled by a mysterious energy field the moment they approached the UFO. Railgun shells were deflected by the energy field, some even exploding mid-air, showering the air with brilliant flames. Hypersonic missiles, likewise, seemed to have struck an invisible wall, instantly disintegrating and scattering into countless fragments.

Inside the American military base, the senior officers stared wide-eyed, their faces filled with disbelief and horror. They had originally hoped that these advanced weapons could deliver a fatal blow to the UFO, but the reality was so cruel.

"Use nuclear-powered cruise missiles!" As this command was issued, the entire American headquarters fell into an eerie silence. The air seemed to freeze, everyone held their breath, their eyes filled with fear and determination.

This was an extremely dangerous decision with potentially devastating consequences, but facing the mysterious and powerful UFO, they seemed to have no choice. The lights in the command room were exceptionally bright, illuminating everyone's pale faces and tense nerves.

A general's lips trembled, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he only swallowed, his throat making a gurgling sound. The senior officials looked at each other in confusion, beads of sweat rolling down their foreheads, dripping onto the cold floor with a soft "tick-tick" sound.

After a long silence, someone finally broke the suffocating silence and said in a hoarse voice: "This is the last resort. If... if it still doesn't work, the consequences will be unimaginable." But no one responded to him. Everyone knew that this was a gamble.

A nuclear-powered cruise missile, belching flames, sped towards the UFO with a destructive momentum. Wherever the missile passed, the air was distorted by the burning, leaving long trails.

As the missile approached the UFO, a dazzling light suddenly erupted around it, forming a massive energy shield. The nuclear-powered cruise missile collided head-on with the shield, instantly triggering a devastating explosion.

A massive fireball rose, a mushroom cloud soaring into the sky. The intense light was blinding. The shockwave from the explosion spread wildly in all directions, instantly razing buildings wherever it passed. The ground shook violently, and huge cracks appeared. The seawater rapidly vaporized, forming a huge cloud of steam.

The shockwave created a massive tsunami on the sea surface. Near the explosion center, the waves reached tens of meters in height, advancing toward the coast with overwhelming force, easily destroying buildings and facilities along the coast.
