Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Yun Qi was extremely anxious, fearing that Lu Yun would block him from behind. Whenever he saw Lu Yun, he couldn't help but want to cry, thinking about how embarrassing he looked and how he was being led around.

Yun Qi pursed his lips. He couldn't continue like this; he couldn't fall into this passive position any longer.

On the way home in a taxi, Yun Qi received a message from her family. Her expression changed, and she said to the driver, "Excuse me, could you please change the address? I can pay extra."

If it costs more, that's no problem.

The vehicle carrying Yun Qi drove into the pitch-black night and disappeared into the darkness.

Lu Yun returned to his room, relaxed a bit, and then went out to knock on Yun Qi's door.

He knocked several times, but Yun Qi didn't come to open the door. He felt something was wrong and called Yun Qi on his phone, but no one answered. Lu Yun knocked on the door several more times, but no one came.

He made call after call, but still received no news. Lu Yun stood at the door of Yun Qi's room, his gaze gloomy. Was it really necessary to avoid him like this?

The motion-activated lights in the corridor went out after a long silence, and Lu Yun was swallowed by darkness. The lights in the room behind him shone, plunging his entire face into darkness.

Lu Yun didn't move, standing at Yun Qi's door until his legs went numb and his whole body went numb. His phone didn't ring, and the person he was waiting for didn't return.

I glanced at my phone and realized it was already 1 a.m. Yun Qi still hadn't returned. Where did he go?

To avoid him, you're not even going home anymore?

Lu Yun gripped the phone tightly, the knuckles grinding together with a teeth-grinding sound.

Lu Yun couldn't sleep all night. He kept thinking that when he got to the company tomorrow, he would definitely grab Yun Qi and make him listen to his explanation.

Lu Yun's hopes were dashed. When he arrived at the company, Yun Qi still hadn't come. He asked his team leader and learned that Yun Qi had a family emergency and had already taken emergency leave, which the team leader had approved.

Lu Yun's gloomy expression softened a bit after hearing that. So, there was something going on at home that prevented him from coming home last night. So, he wasn't avoiding him; there was just something going on at home, right?

The weather changed from cloudy to sunny today, and Lu Yun's mood also brightened. Back in his office, he didn't care that Yun Qi hadn't replied to his messages, and quickly sent a text: "Xiao Qi, I know you didn't reply because of family matters."

Do you need my help? Just give me a call or a message, and I'll be there shortly.

[Don't worry, Xiao Qi, I'll approve your leave. You can rest for a few more days after you've dealt with everything and then come back.]

I miss you so much, Xiao Qi.

Lu Yun wasn't upset at all for not receiving a reply, because he knew that Yun Qi wasn't deliberately ignoring him; Yun Qi was simply busy and didn't have time to reply.

He placed his phone face down on the table, and after learning the good news that Yun Qi hadn't intentionally ignored him, he worked with a smile on his face.

"Buzz buzz buzz..."

The phone on the table kept vibrating, but Yun Qi couldn't look at it. Two men in police uniforms were sitting in front of him, questioning him.

"You said you only bought yang energy from them, and that's all, right?"

Yun Qi nodded, his heart-shaped tail swaying restlessly behind him, and the little pointed hairs on his head appearing and disappearing with each nod.

Last night, I received a message from my father in the middle of the night, saying that the demon who sold yang energy had been arrested and was suspected of endangering the safety of both the human and demon realms. He wanted all the demons who had bought and used his energy to come back.

Yun Qi hurried back. The journey from the human realm to the demon realm was quite long. Yun Qi flew for a long time using the teleportation array before finally arriving. Before she could even catch her breath, she was dragged around and asked questions. Now, the roots of her wings are in great pain.

The police officers in front of her were still rambling on and on, and Yun Qi listened attentively, pursing her lips, answering each of their questions.

"How many days have you been consuming their products?"

Yun Qi recalled for a moment and said, "It should have been a few months."

"Are you experiencing any physical discomfort?"

Yun Qi shook her head. Seeing how serious they were, she couldn't help but ask, "Is there something wrong with the product?"

The police officer sighed and nodded: "Yes, we found addictive ingredients in this product. If consumed in large quantities over a long period of time, the person may not be able to eat anything else and will only be able to survive by relying on the yang energy they developed."

Yun Qi's face turned pale upon hearing this; he had been eating it for months! "But...but I still have an appetite for other people's yang energy..."

Sensing the panic in Yun Qi's voice, the police officer reassured him, "This was only found in the latest batch. You shouldn't have eaten any of the latest batch, right?"

Yun Qi breathed a sigh of relief and said, "No, I haven't finished the previous batch yet, and I haven't bought the latest batch."

The police officer nodded: "Then it's fine. The main thing is that it appeared in this latest batch."

Yun Qi was relieved. Luckily, his father and father hadn't agreed to send him a new one, otherwise he would have been in trouble.

After catching his breath, Yun Qi remembered what the police had mentioned about the dangers to the human and demon realms during the phone call and couldn't help but ask, "Officer, may I ask one more question? What were you referring to when you mentioned the dangers to the human and demon realms?"

The police had already asked almost everything they wanted to ask. When they heard Yun Qi's question, they smiled slightly and said, "I'm sorry, this is an internal confidential question and I cannot answer it."

Yun Qi realized he had offended her and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ask that question."

The police officer shook his head, stood up, and said, "It's alright. We've asked almost everything we wanted to ask. Thank you for your cooperation. It's all over now, you can go back."

Yun Qi nodded and left the police station in the Demon Realm.

The demon realm and the human realm reached a peaceful coexistence agreement hundreds of years ago, and there has always been a state of mutual respect between the demons and the humans. Why would something like this suddenly happen?

Yun Qi wasn't in a hurry to return to the company, partly because of Lu Yun, and partly because he had taken leave! Paid leave is not easy to come by, so he definitely wanted to rest properly.

He happened to be looking around the Demon Realm recently to see if there were any demons or humans who suited his taste.

Only then did Yun Qi remember her phone, which had been vibrating incessantly. When she opened it, messages kept popping up, all from Lu Yun.

Yun Qi couldn't bear to keep Lu Yun on the Do Not Disturb list forever, so she removed him from it after only a few minutes.

Looking at the several phone calls and messages Lu Yun had sent him, he felt very strange. He pursed his lips and scrolled through each one, completely unable to guess what Lu Yun was thinking or what he wanted.

Unexpectedly, Yun Qi put his phone down, thought for a while, and then replied to Lu Yun with a message: "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Lu. I can handle this."

He decided to go home and ask his father for advice.

Let's see what Lu Yun is really thinking.

Yun Qi went home and stayed for five days. During those five days, Lu Yun didn't see Yun Qi at all. However, the only thing that made Lu Yun happy was that Yun Qi was willing to reply to his messages.

Although it was cold, at least they replied.

Lu Yun originally planned to explain what happened that night to Yun Qi from the beginning, but he was afraid that Yun Qi would ignore him, so he thought he would first calm Yun Qi down before talking to him.

Yun Qi held her phone, chatting with Lu Yun, a small smile on her face.

Yunqi's father stood at the doorway, his tail swishing behind him. He turned to the man behind him and said, "Do you think our son is chatting with someone he likes?"

The tall man behind her put his arm around Yunqi's father, nodded, and said in a low voice, "It's obvious, the same expression you had when you were talking to me back then."

Yunqi's father scolded the man behind him and went inside to ask, "Xiaoqi, who are you chatting with?"

Yun Qi sat up and said shyly, "You know Dad, he's the man I told you about the day I came back."

Yunqi's father said, "Oh, so it was him. Didn't you say he didn't like you?"

Yun Qi frowned and said hesitantly, "I'm not sure anymore. Lu Yun has been chatting with me these past few days, and it feels like he likes me again."

Yunqi's father chuckled: "Isn't that the same as before, giving you this kind of illusion again? If you act impulsively, he'll say he doesn't like you."

Lu Yun has a criminal record, which his whole family knows. Yun Qi naturally thought of this as well. He said with a serious expression, "So I plan to ask him about what happened that night later, and find out what he was thinking."

"That's right, I support your son. You should ask questions when you have something to say. Keeping things bottled up is bad for everyone."

Yun Qi smiled and said, "I know, thank you, Dad."

“Xiaoyun, your father and I have different opinions. It’s better not to talk about such important matters online. I think you should go back and have a face-to-face discussion.”

Yun Qi paused for a moment, his smile vanished, and he looked at his human father, saying, "May I ask why?"

Yunqi's father reached out and took Yunqi's phone, read through all the records, and understood everything.

He said, "Yes, it seems I was right. You should say this to my face."

Yun Qi didn't understand why, and his father didn't seem inclined to explain. He nodded in agreement. His father was a human man, and human men would certainly understand human men better, so he would just listen to his father.

The father stood at the door and said to Yunqi, "You're going back tomorrow too, aren't you?"

Yun Qi nodded, "Tomorrow is the last day of my holiday. I have to rush back tonight because the teleportation array is too far from where I live."

"Then you should ask him to wait for you at your doorstep when you come back in the evening. Tell him you have something to tell him. Make sure he waits for you at your doorstep. If you go back and see him at the door, you can say so. If he's not there, then find someone else. Don't hang yourself on this tree."
