Chapter 9 Trial Operation

After two more busy days, Microworld Inn is finally about to enter the trial operation phase.

Chen Yang has been busy day and night these past two days, both at the inn and in the micro-world.

He learned about several traps online over the past two days and set them up by the lake, hoping to catch animals that come to drink.

However, the trap yielded nothing. Chen Yang's experience was still insufficient, and he was unable to determine the paths that animals frequently took, so he could only rely on luck.

Fortunately, the shallow trap provided him with two more fish, and he began practicing using the harpoon. Although he didn't catch anything, he did gain some insights.

For the past two days, his body in the micro-world has been mainly relying on wild fruits and plants. He was also lucky enough to find some wild sugarcane, which will improve his diet. Eating something sweet can also replenish his energy, as sugar is the most energizing thing.

But he still craved meat, craved it terribly.

He didn't feel anything in the real world, but as soon as he entered the micro-world, his body started sending him signals of hunger.

On the very morning of the day the Microworld Inn was about to open, Chen Yang's trap finally caught a prey, a prey he really didn't want to eat.

A rat, a huge, fat rat, almost as big as the European Emperor. It was the first time he had ever seen such a large rat.

Chen Yang was really conflicted. Why did it have to be a mouse? It would have been fine if it were a bird or a rabbit, but a mouse was giving him a psychological hurdle.

Ultimately, his appetite overcame his mental block, and he decided to eat rat meat.

In fact, rats are perfectly edible, especially rats raised in such a healthy environment.

However, when humans see rats, they always think of garbage dumps and sewers, and countless disgusting germs, so it's inevitable that they will have psychological barriers.

Chen Yang used his strong blade to skin and gut the rat. Although he had no experience dealing with rats, the methods for handling animals were all the same, and rats were not poisonous snakes, so there was no need to pay special attention to them.

As the rat meat sizzled under the flames, emitting an enticing aroma, Chen Yang couldn't help but swallow hard.

This fat rat has almost as much meat as a rabbit, enough for him to have a hearty meal.

When Chen Yang took his first bite, he completely forgot about his last bit of mental block and ate heartily.

He was sure the taste wasn't very good, but he just couldn't stop eating it.

Finally, he reluctantly kept the last bit of meat, boiled it in a bamboo tube until it was tender, and gave it to the long-awaited European Emperor.

This sumptuous meal satisfied Chen Yang both physically and mentally, so he rewarded himself by spending an afternoon making a simple wooden recliner before logging out of the micro-world.

After waking up, I will have to face the first day of the inn's trial operation.

During the trial operation week, all guests were offered a 50% discount. The main purpose was to promote the business and gather feedback, which is crucial for the future operation of the guesthouse.

Many of Wang Bing's friends would also come to stay for a night or two during this period. Many of his friends were professionals in the guesthouse business, and their opinions were very important.

Chen Yang has met many like-minded friends during his travels over the past few years, and they have all promised to come and visit.

Besides these, they will certainly also face another type of person: their colleagues who come to gather intelligence on the enemy.

There are several hotels and inns nearby, and many guesthouses throughout HZ City. These people in the industry are all very well-informed, so they naturally already knew about the Micro World Guesthouse.

Wang Bing's work efficiency is truly remarkable. In just two days, he registered the inn's Weibo and WeChat public platforms and spent money to promote them through various channels, which has already caused a small sensation in the HZ city circle.

The advertising and promotion costs alone amounted to tens of thousands of yuan, and there are still promotion fees on various software platforms to come. Some well-known websites, forums, and online communities in the industry have all hired people to push advertisements.

Fortunately, Wang Bing handled all of this, and Chen Yang only needed to pay for it. These expenses were all within the budget, so Chen Yang didn't feel bad about spending them.

The promotion was very effective; half of the rooms were booked during the seven-day trial operation, and the other half were reserved for their friends. In other words, the entire seven-day operation was fully booked.

For the remaining guests, Wang Bing apologized and invited them to the inn's opening banquet, which attracted many guests.

Right now, they're operating at a loss to promote the guesthouse, all in an effort to build brand awareness, establish a stable customer base, and cultivate a good reputation.

The first couple to check in were a man and a woman. The man was a middle-aged man in his forties, but the woman was in her early twenties, young and beautiful. She looked away from the group.

After helping them check in, Jiang Yining invited them to have a cup of tea. Li Su'er, already dressed in a cheongsam, quietly brewed tea for them, while leaving the conversation with the guests to Jiang Yining.

The two seemed to have switched roles at this moment; Jiang Yining chatted and laughed freely with the guests, while Li Su'er obediently made tea on the side.

"You can tell, can't you?"

Wang Bing said to Chen Yang, "We'll have all kinds of guests, and all we have to do is receive them. No matter what kind of guest they are, we have to treat them with a normal attitude. Yining can do that, but Su'er can't. Believe it or not, she'll be gossiping about it with you later."

Chen Yang nodded: "I completely believe you."

Wang Bing secretly went to contact the next group of guests. They had partnered with a company to provide pick-up and drop-off services. While the pick-up and drop-off were free for the guests, renting the car for sightseeing was charged. If guests wanted to continue using the car, Weijie Inn would also receive a share of the profits.

Those who come to Weijie Inn are not poor; it's perfectly normal for them to hire a car for sightseeing.

In the future, he will also cooperate with travel agencies to launch high-quality tour routes. Wang Bing is well-versed in the ins and outs of this and handles it with ease, so as not to offend customers and to increase income.

Even Li Su'er and Jiang Yining earn extra commissions by recommending tea, and many of the guests who come here know this, but as long as it can provide them with convenience, they don't mind the inn making a little more money.

"God of Wealth Yang, do you think that couple we just saw were..."

Sure enough, as soon as Li Su'er saw the guests off, she came over to gossip with Chen Yang, but Chen Yang stopped her from saying anything more.

"The inn has a new rule: guests are not allowed to gossip behind their backs."

Li Su'er glared at him, wanting to retort but unable to speak. She said aggrievedly, "What inn rules? They're clearly targeting me. You're extinguishing a woman's gossip spirit; you'll be punished."

Chen Yang ignored Li Su'er's words, but he picked up her coat from the sofa and handed it to her.

"Put it on. I ordered an electric heater from the electronics store, and it will be delivered this afternoon. It's too cold to wear a cheongsam this season."

Not every public area has central air conditioning, and Li Su'er's arms were covered in goosebumps.

She smiled and took the coat, saying, "Wealthy Yang, have you ever considered finding a gentle, considerate, virtuous, and generous girlfriend like Li Su'er, who is young, rich, and considerate?"

"I might consider it once this Li Su'er is truly gentle, considerate, virtuous, and generous," Chen Yang said seriously.

Li Su'er said with distress, "That will take a long time."

But the next second he put on a smiling face: "Then I would like to formally recommend the gentle, considerate, virtuous and generous Ningning to you."

Jiang Yining rolled her eyes at her, "The guests have arrived."

The guest was a friend of Wang Bing, and Wang Bing personally went out to greet him. After they exchanged greetings, he took his friend to visit the inn.

Then the remaining groups of guests arrived in droves, as if they had made a prior arrangement, and Chen Yang had to personally greet them all.

Li Su'er temporarily took over Jiang Yining's job, sitting at the front desk registering and handling cashier duties.

Fortunately, they only had five rooms, so the work would be over in a short while. This was also why Chen Yang didn't hire anyone else—not to save costs, but because it wasn't necessary.

Seeing that all five rooms were full of people, Chen Yang felt a sense of satisfaction.

"Brother Yang, don't you feel a great sense of accomplishment?"

Jiang Yining brought Chen Yang a cup of tea and asked with a light smile.

Chen Yang nodded and said, "The trial operation was quite successful. It would be great if we could have a stable customer base in the future."

"Don't worry, Brother Wang is very capable, otherwise we wouldn't have come along. We didn't come just because the boss is young and rich," Jiang Yining joked.

Chen Yang was speechless and could only cough awkwardly twice.

"Brother Yang, why don't you find a girlfriend? You're at the age where your family is pressuring you to get married."

"Nobody wants me," Chen Yang shrugged.

Jiang Yining clearly didn't believe it, but Li Su'er, who was just about to enter the kitchen, blurted out.

"Little Ningning likes it."

Wang Bing, having just finished touring the inn with his friend, came over, chatting and laughing. His friend, Bi Tie, was the innkeeper.

"Xiao Chen, I really envy you. You own your own house and don't have the pressure of rent, plus Lao Wang, your super housekeeper. As long as you do a good job, you're sure to make money."

"Making money isn't enough; we need to make a lot of money. Occupancy rates can't be lower than 80%, and secondary sales need to keep up. Otherwise, it's better to just rent the houses out directly." Wang Bing glared and said, "Come on, buddy, let's go over those questions again."

“Ah Yang, Lao Tie just looked around and there are a few things he thinks need to be changed. Listen to his opinion. He's also an innkeeper, so his perspective is different from mine.”

Chen Yang dared not put on airs and listened carefully to Bi Tie's opinions. Bi Tie and HZ's design company had some differences regarding the furnishings and layout of the inn.

Chen Yang noted down Bi Tie's suggestions, planning to review them later and also contact the design company to try to improve the overall style without changing it.

Chen Yang had a very fulfilling first day of trial operation.
