Chapter 10 Heavy Responsibility

Once all the guests had checked in, Chen Yang had nothing left to do.

At dinner, guests from two other rooms ate with them, including the couple with a significant age gap. During the meal, the younger woman's face flushed, whether from shyness or something else was unclear. Whether anyone knew the reason or not, no one said anything.

"This place is very nice, I like it very much, I'll come and stay here often when I have time," the middle-aged man said, handing out his business card to the people at the table.

Guo Zifeng, that's the man's name, followed by the words "Chairman of Shangtang Tea Industry".

This caught Wang Bing's eye, and he started chatting with Guo Zifeng. This was someone who could potentially become an important supplier for their secondary tea sales—it was like a godsend.

Guo Zifeng clearly had the same intention, and he had a very pleasant conversation with Wang Bing.

It was already seven o'clock when they finished eating. Some of the guests went out to play, while others stayed in their rooms. Chen Yang was also preparing to go back to his room.

"The old man's routine," Li Su'er muttered.

The three of them take turns on duty until midnight. The inn's main gate is smart; any registered guest can enter by swiping their ID card. There's no need to worry about guests returning late.

Moreover, Chen Yang incorporated smart systems into many of the renovations, including automatic dishwashers, saving Li Su'er and Jiang Yining a lot of work.

At eight o'clock sharp, Chen Yang entered the micro-world.

Yesterday's hearty meal gave Wei Jie plenty of energy, so he decided to continue setting traps and then embark on a long journey to the bamboo forest. This round trip would take at least five or six hours, and he didn't want to waste it.

He carried the spear with him, while the European Emperor was locked in the small wooden house.

If they encountered animals on the road, our primitive man Chen Yang would try to hunt them with a spear, but he didn't have much hope. With his skill level, the only animal he could probably hit with a spear was probably a tortoise.

When he went into the bamboo forest, he had to be extra careful in the bushes, as snakes might be hiding there. His feet were unprotected, and he didn't want to use his toes to test if a snake was venomous.

On his way to the bamboo forest, he actually saw an animal—a pheasant.

He chased the pheasant for at least a kilometer, throwing spears several times, but the pheasant eventually escaped into the bushes and disappeared.

After reluctantly giving up on the pheasant, Chen Yang unexpectedly discovered mushrooms. He wasn't sure if these mushrooms were poisonous, but he packed them up with leaves and took them back with him so he could look them up online when he returned to the real world.

"If only that chicken were here, it would be perfect. Pheasant stew with mushrooms, so nourishing!" he lamented.

The resources for survival in the micro-world are truly abundant, unlike those wilderness survival shows where people are surviving in dire circumstances.

Compared to those places, Microworld truly deserves to be called a paradise.

While passing by the water traps by the lake, he unexpectedly discovered two fish trapped inside. Overjoyed, Chen Yang immediately sealed the opening of the inverted V-shaped trap with stones, intending to take them back with him when he returned.

This made Chen Yang very happy. Even if he lost the chicken, he still had a feast of river delicacies: one fish stewed in soup and one grilled.

"I'm so handsome!" he exclaimed.

We cut down several long bamboo stalks in the bamboo forest and also found a lot of bamboo worms.

Bamboo worms are edible, and quite delicious. Chen Yang ate roasted bamboo worms when he was in Yunnan. They were crispy and fragrant, and rather tasty.

Because it was food he had already eaten, his psychological trauma wasn't as severe as with the rat. He put some back in a bamboo tube. It was full of protein and amino acids!

Moreover, bamboo worms can also be used as fish bait. He doesn't have a fishing line, but he can scatter them in his traps to help attract fish.

On his way back, he picked some kiwis, put two fish in a bamboo tube, and sprinkled bamboo worms as bait.

"This life is wonderful."

He felt extremely content; in the microcosm, even the simplest things could satisfy him. This was something he could never experience in the real world.

"Congratulations on reaching 1 star 10% in your micro-world development level. Please go to the center of the world to claim your mission."

Is there a task?

Chen Yang was delighted; a task meant a reward. In the micro-world, where tools were extremely scarce, any reward was of utmost importance.

He quickened his pace back to the cabin.

From afar, he sensed something was wrong; the baby's innocent cries kept ringing out.

He put down the bamboo and ran quickly towards the cabin.

A gray wolf was pacing back and forth in front of the cabin, and the fearless young man, Ouhuang, barked at it relentlessly.

Seemingly wary of the fire in front of the house, the wolf merely lingered there.

"Hey!"

Chen Yang yelled, picked up a stone from the ground and threw it desperately, then gripped his spear and confronted the wolf.

The gray wolf turned its head and stared at him, and Chen Yang found his hands trembling.

But he didn't retreat an inch; he couldn't retreat, because if he did, the wolf would likely pounce.

The man and the wolf faced off, while a little puppy barked wildly and recklessly.

The wolf stared at Chen Yang for a while, then silently turned and left.

Chen Yang slowly walked to the front of the cabin, only relaxing when the gray wolf disappeared from sight. The lone wolf didn't seem very hungry, so it didn't fight them.

"You little rascal, you really aren't afraid of death." Chen Yang patted the head of the European Emperor.

The European Emperor seemed very excited, jumping around him.

"Alright, alright, I know you're amazing. I brought back some food, you're in for a treat," Chen Yang said with a smile.

He took the bamboo and the bamboo tube containing the fish and bamboo worms back to the cabin, and then went to check on the mission.

"Captive breeding and cultivation: Please raise animals in captivity or cultivate a plant that can be used for food."

"This is setting me up to be a farmer."

Although he knew about the mission, Chen Yang did not immediately take action.

After encountering that wolf, he realized he needed to find a way to protect himself. He couldn't remain passive any longer. Besides wolves, there were likely other aggressive animals in the forest, such as bears and wild boars.

It would be best to build a fence and then wrap it with some thorny plants.

But that would take a lot of time, and he still needed to find food and hunt, so he could only look for thorny bushes to surround his hut.

This can serve as temporary protection and should be able to stop most animals except for the thick-skinned bear.

He had encountered this thorny bush while exploring his surroundings; he didn't know its name, but it was usable.

The tenacious blade severed one thorny vine after another, and then the vines were piled up around the hut.

By nightfall, Chen Yang had only completed half of the project. He would have to finish the rest the next day.

"Come on, let's prepare dinner."

After a busy day, Chen Yang was starving, and he and Ou Huang ate the two fish and bamboo worms clean.

After dinner, he sat in a deckchair looking at the cabin. The roaring fire provided him with warmth, but he still felt a chill. The temperature would drop at night, so he had to temporarily move the fire to a different location so that the smoke wouldn't be too heavy and he wouldn't have to endure the cold wind.

"The task is arduous and the road ahead is long."
