Chapter 149 Naming Controversy

Because of Lao Ding's tough stance, Da Yang and Er Yang had no choice but to take the children away when they had time, no matter how unwilling they were.

Meanwhile, Dehua had already packed her bags and gone to Qingdao. After the two learned where she had gone, they understood everything and couldn't help but feel resentful.

After Dehua arrived, there wasn't much that the family needed to trouble her with.

Unlike on the island, where you need to burn firewood to cook, the kitchen in this apartment building uses gas, which is much more convenient.

However, Dehua always complained that the food he cooked was not as fragrant as the food on the island, lacking the aroma of firewood.

As for washing clothes, Jiang Weidong got a washing machine for his home, which not only saved him effort but also time.

Looking at the high-end items in the room that he had never seen before, Dehua couldn't help but sigh to Jiang Weidong, "You're really rich, kid. Your dad was a commander, and he didn't have any of these things at home."

Jiang Weidong laughed after hearing this, "These are all the rage in the city now. I'll buy two more and send them to you and Mom on the island."

Dehua quickly shook his head and refused, "Are you wasting your money? Your dad and uncle have retired, and they might move off the island anytime soon. If you buy so much stuff, it'll be such a hassle later."

“Besides,” Dehua said with a hint of fear in his eyes, “where are you going to get so much money? You can’t make any mistakes!”

Hearing this, Jiang Weidong and Lin Wangshu exchanged a glance and smiled helplessly. "Auntie, what are you thinking? I'm not that kind of person. Don't worry, my money is absolutely legitimate!"

Dehua smiled, feeling reassured using these things. Although it was her first time using them, Lin Wangshu had taught her a few times, and she was already quite adept at using them.

Therefore, Dehua is indeed more relaxed here than on the island, with more free time, which inevitably makes him a little bored.

But her ability to make friends was truly remarkable. There were many elderly women from the countryside living in the family building, and Dehua got along very well with them.

Before each mealtime, Dehua would carry a vegetable basket and chat with them while they picked vegetables.

These people originally thought Dehua was Jiang Weidong's mother, but after talking to her, they found out that she was actually just his aunt.

She couldn't help but praise, "I've never seen such a wonderful aunt before; even my own mother can't compare."

Dehua smiled broadly and said modestly, "I raised both of these children myself. I wouldn't feel comfortable letting them come if they didn't let me."

Some people cautiously probed her, saying, "Being your wife must be so lucky. Weidong is such a doting husband. We've never seen Xiaolin do any housework."

"Even the laundry is done by Battalion Commander Jiang himself."

“I don’t know if you have any nephews. I’d like to introduce my niece to him.”

This is a veiled message to Dehua's in-laws: Your daughter-in-law is causing trouble, you should take care of her!

Whether Dehua genuinely didn't understand or was pretending not to, he just smiled and said, "That's good, as long as Wangshu wasn't wronged."

“My sister-in-law usually doesn’t interfere in their affairs, and she’s even worried that Weidong might be faking it in front of her. But now that I’ve heard what you’ve said, I’m relieved. It’s good that he really loves his wife!”

These people were surprised by Dehua's reaction and exchanged bewildered glances. Things shouldn't have turned out this way.

The correct approach would be to complain along with them and then go back and discipline the unreasonable niece-in-law, wouldn't it?

But looking at Dehua, it seemed that he genuinely felt sorry for Lin Wangshu, even more so than for his own nephew Jiang Weidong.

They were truly disheartened. What kind of families were these? Why did they all act so unpredictably?

They were all mothers-in-law. Originally, their daughters-in-law were quite obedient, doing everything from washing clothes and cooking to serving their husbands and children, without the slightest complaint.

But ever since Jiang Weidong and Lin Wangshu moved in, their way of getting along has opened the eyes of these young wives.

As time went on, the young wives began to feel resentful and started to complain, sometimes even throwing things around when doing housework.

Some women even dared to ask their husbands to learn from Battalion Commander Jiang and occasionally serve them.

The men were furious. Not only were they unwilling, they also berated the women.

The young wives were both aggrieved and angry, and in the end they even went on strike to protest. They refused to cook or wash clothes, and within a few days the house was in complete disarray.

During those days, whenever those people encountered Jiang Weidong, they would either roll their eyes at him or give him a disapproving snort.

Jiang Weidong scratched his head, unable to understand what he had done to offend them.

Since he couldn't figure it out, Jiang Weidong quickly put it out of his mind. After all, Xiaoyue was all alone and was waiting for him to come home.

In the end, the men had no choice but to compromise. They secretly washed their wives' feet to apologize and started sharing some housework instead of shirking their responsibilities.

As a result, the young couple's relationship improved somewhat, but the mother-in-law disapproved, believing that the culprits were Jiang Weidong and Lin Wangshu.

They didn't dare say it to the two of them, hoping that an elder would come and give them a piece of their mind so that the two would behave themselves.

Dehua was puzzled when she saw that they had suddenly fallen silent, but since there was no more gossip to listen to, she could only listlessly carry her vegetable basket home to cook.

As Lin Wangshu's belly grew bigger and she was about to give birth, it was time to choose names for the two children.

As the child's father, Jiang Weidong was very enthusiastic about naming the child. He would flip through the dictionary whenever he had free time. But just then, Jiang Defu called.

Jiang Defu felt that this was his first grandchild, so it was only natural that he should name him.
