After a while, Lin Wangshu saw the three brothers sneaking out of the house, presumably having succeeded.
Just as they stepped out, An Jie returned with a flashlight, looking quite displeased. After giving Jiang Defu a meaningful look, the two went back to their room together.
Dehua muttered about Jiang Defu cheating while tidying up the chessboard.
Lin Wangshu prepared a basin of hot water, as Ya Ning always complained of cold feet at night, and suggested that soaking her feet for a while before bed would help.
Upon hearing this, Dehua asked with concern, "Is the blanket too thin? Auntie will get you a thicker one later."
As she spoke, she thought of Old Ding's family again, and sighed, "The weather is going to change. I don't know what your Uncle Ding and his family will do. Their house is so damp."
Without waiting a moment longer, she pushed open her brother and sister-in-law's door without knocking and demanded the dog-skin rug from them.
Upon seeing this, Ya Ning whispered to Lin Wangshu, "Big sister, does Auntie like Uncle Ding?"
Lin Wangshu raised an eyebrow in surprise, "You little girl, who told you all this?"
Then he pointed his index finger and shushed them, saying, "Don't say these things to Mom and Dad, they'll get angry."
Upon hearing this, Ya Ning immediately covered her mouth and nodded repeatedly with a serious expression.
After soaking their feet, Ya Ning, being a young girl who often takes naps, went to bed early, while Lin Wangshu and Ya Fei read comic books together.
Immediately afterwards, a commotion broke out outside. The two men peered through the window to watch the commotion, only to see the three brothers being chased and beaten by An Jie with a broom.
Yafei chuckled, "Serves them right! They went out to play without me!"
After it quieted down outside, Lin Wangshu picked up her water glass to pour some water. As soon as she stepped out the door, she heard someone calling her softly from behind.
Turning around, she saw Jiang Weidong peeking out with his head, smiling brightly at Lin Wangshu.
Lin Wangshu found it amusing and walked over with her water glass. She then heard him say mysteriously, "Don't sleep tonight. Come out after you turn off the lights. I need to talk to you."
