After deciding to go home, Lin Wangshu first wrote to Jiang Weidong to confirm the specific departure time, and then pestered Gong Shan to ask for a week's leave to visit his family.
The day before departure, Lin Wangshu was so excited that she took out her luggage and packed it over and over again.
Knowing that Lin Wangshu was going home to visit her family, He Xiao had her father send her a lot of delicious food. Looking at the mountain of food, Lin Wangshu said helplessly to He Xiao, "This is too much, how can I carry it all!"
He Xiao was stuffing a box of cookies into her bag when she heard this, and was taken aback, not expecting it. Then she laughed and said, "What's wrong with that? Can't Jiang Weidong carry it? He can have it all!"
Lin Wangshu silently wished Jiang Weidong well, and said to He Xiao, "Then I thank you on behalf of my greedy younger siblings. They'll be overjoyed to see these!"
Jiang Weimin loves these things the most in the family. When he sees them, he'll probably be as happy as a little mouse falling into a rice jar.
He Xiao waved her hand generously and said, "If they like it, I'll send them more. We don't need any more of these."
Seeing her act like a wealthy tycoon, Lin Wangshu laughed and pounced on her cheek, kissing her on the cheek, saying, "How funny! You're so generous, I'm starting to fall in love with you!"
He Xiao wiped the saliva off his face and struggled to say, "Save that for kissing Jiang Weidong! I can't take it!"
Song Jing smiled as she rescued He Xiao, then took out two jars of peach preserves for her. "These were made by Xiao Shan's family. He sent me a few jars. Take them back and let your uncle and aunt try them."
Lin Wangshu hugged her, touched. "You're all so kind to me, thank you!"
Song Jing breathed a sigh of relief. She was worried that Lin Wangshu would find her repulsive, but when she saw Lin Wangshu leaning over to kiss her again, she shyly covered her face and hid to the side.
The next day, as soon as Lin Wangshu left the cultural troupe, she saw Jiang Weidong waiting for her.
Seeing her come out, Jiang Weidong walked up with a smile and reached out to take her luggage. But when he touched it, it was so heavy that his smile froze.
"Did you put iron blocks in it?"
Lin Wangshu shook her head, suppressing a laugh, and said, "No, it's my friend Manman's love!"
Jiang Weidong had no choice but to grit his teeth and lift his luggage. Lin Wangshu wouldn't let him carry it alone, so she reached out to help him share the load.
Seeing Jiang Weidong looking over, Lin Wangshu smiled and said, "Working together, men and women, makes the work easier!" Then she whispered, "If you get too tired, I'll feel bad for you!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Weidong paused, thinking helplessly that this girl was flirting with him again.
But a bright smile honestly bloomed on his face, and he gripped the object with even more force.
Lin Wangshu looked at his bright red ears and secretly smiled.
Upon arriving at the train station, Jiang Weidong helped Lin Wangshu board the train through the crowded throng, and then they struggled to their seats.
Once the train started moving, Lin Wangshu took out a handful of sunflower seeds that He Xiao had given her and cracked them to pass the time. She originally wanted to give some to Jiang Weidong, but he thought it would affect his military image and refused to accept them.
Sitting opposite me were an old lady and a pregnant woman who looked like her daughter-in-law. The two of them had lots of bags and looked like they were visiting relatives.
The old lady started staring at Lin Wangshu as soon as she got in the car, making her extremely uncomfortable.
"Auntie, would you like some?" Lin Wangshu thought she wanted some too, so she grabbed a handful of melon seeds for her.
The old lady patted him down before taking it, beaming, "Comrade, you're not only good-looking, but also kind-hearted! Have you found a husband yet?"
Lin Wangshu paused in her sunflower seed-eating, surprised by the woman's overly familiar manner. She glanced at Jiang Weidong beside her, nodded, and said, "Auntie, I have a boyfriend!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Weidong's lips curled up slightly, indicating that he was in a good mood.
The old lady was a little surprised and said in disbelief, "No way, let me tell you, I have a young son who doesn't have a girlfriend yet. He's handsome, hardworking, and our family is well-off. We have three big brick houses, and we'll leave them all to him."
Hearing this, the young woman beside her looked embarrassed and tugged at the old lady's sleeve, whispering, "Mother, everyone else has a boyfriend..."
Moreover, her brother-in-law is lazy and good-for-nothing, and the house they live in was earned by her husband while he was in the army. He is not worthy of this girl at all!
The old lady impatiently pushed her away and said to Lin Wangshu ingratiatingly, "What do you think, young lady? Once you marry into this family, as long as you give birth to a son, you can just wait to enjoy a life of luxury!"
Lin Wangshu couldn't finish her sunflower seeds. This guy was too shameless; he could talk to himself for so long.
Jiang Weidong cleared his throat, handed her the water bottle, and said gently, "Is your mouth dry? Have some water."
He thought this would dissuade the old lady, but when she saw Jiang Weidong, her eyes lit up. She thought to herself that she had been so focused on looking at Lin Wangshu that she had never seen such a beautiful girl and hadn't even noticed that the young man next to her was also so spirited and upright, clearly a soldier.
Then, smiling, he said to Lin Wangshu, "This is your brother, right? He's not married yet, is he? I have a niece who's capable, has a big bottom, and looks like she'll give birth to a son."
Jiang Weidong looked at the old lady with some confusion. When he treated Lin Wangshu as his younger sister, strangers always mistook her for his wife.
Now that he considers Lin Wangshu his daughter-in-law, how come the old lady can't see it anymore?
The young wife wanted to tug at her mother-in-law's sleeve again. The two of them looked like a couple. How could her mother-in-law not see that?
Lin Wangshu laughed so hard she was shaking, looking at Jiang Weidong's expression. She said to the old lady, "Auntie, don't worry about him. He's not my brother, he's my boyfriend. We're just going home!"
The old lady stopped talking, feeling annoyed. She kept thinking how a pity it was that the two seemed to be a good match, otherwise her son and niece would both have found good partners.
