"That's really touching!"
He Tiantian finally finished watching the movie, and she had a very profound realization: only family will accompany you for a lifetime. She wondered how her parents were doing.
Shen Yizhou glanced at the time; it was only a little past four in the afternoon, but the living room was already pitch black, and a torrential downpour was still raging outside.
"I wonder when this rain will stop."
Shen Yizhou drew back the curtains. Outside, it was pitch black, with purple lightning flashing through the dark clouds.
He Tiantian turned off the TV; her eyes ached from watching it all afternoon. She walked over and stood next to Shen Yizhou.
"It's so dark outside."
"Yes, the rain isn't going to stop today."
Shen Yizhou drew the curtains and turned on the living room light. Several shouts and curses came from outside the door.
He Tiantian scurried over to peek through the peephole and heard the voice coming from across the hall. There were three women standing in front of her door.
He Tiantian couldn't hear clearly, so she pressed her ear against the door and vaguely heard a few words.
[You're seducing someone else's husband, aren't you ashamed? You're so old, yet you're still dating a much younger woman.]
[Yeah, look how old your son is! Everyone should come out and see!]
[Damn it, she's only after my husband's money! Let me tell you, you won't get a single penny of his money.]
The three women were talking one after another, and He Tiantian heard most of what they were saying. Then one of the women walked up to their door and knocked.
"Come on, all of you residents, come out and see what kind of woman lives across the hall from you!"
He Tiantian was somewhat frightened, but Shen Yizhou pulled her aside and opened the door directly.
"Madam, your voice is now above 30 decibels. Do you realize you're disturbing the peace by shouting like that?"
The woman was stunned when she saw Shen Yizhou's face; it was the first time she had ever seen such a handsome man.
"Hmph, handsome, sorry, I just wanted to warn you to watch out for your neighbor across the hall."
"Please leave my house. My wife is resting, and you are disturbing her."
After Shen Yizhou finished speaking, he closed the door, leaving the woman outside in a daze.
She hadn't expected to run into a tough opponent. Her companion came over and said, "What are you doing standing across from her? Don't be arguing with the wrong person."
There's a really handsome guy inside! But he's already married.
"You'd better come over here quickly. Old Xu won't be able to calm down until he teaches this woman a lesson. And you're still here calling her 'handsome guy'."
The two women outside returned to the door of 403. He Tiantian pressed her face against the peephole, and the son of the resident of 403 burst into tears.
The landlady came out from the stairwell and yelled, "What are you bunch of shrewish women doing there!"
Shen Yizhou was somewhat helpless. Women were such a hassle, and their voices were so shrill; no one could stand that.
The three women weren't afraid of the landlady at all. The woman in the lead stepped forward and shoved her, saying, "What's the point of an old woman getting in the way?"
The landlady was pushed to the ground, and He Tiantian couldn't bear it any longer, so she opened the door and went out.
"Do you guys have too much money? You even pushed an old lady. If she gets hurt and has to go to the hospital, you'll be in big trouble."
After He Tiantian finished speaking, she squatted down to help the landlady, which angered the other women.
"Damn it, another busybody."
The woman grabbed He Tiantian's hair, and the pain made her react instinctively; she pushed the woman away forcefully.
Shen Yizhou also came out. He slapped away the hand that was grabbing He Tiantian's hair and said, "I've called the police. If you don't want to be arrested, then get out of here."
The woman in the lead laughed as if she'd heard the biggest joke in the world. "Sure enough, everyone living in the same building as this woman is a weirdo!"
The resident of apartment 402 came out and showed everyone his police ID, saying, "My colleagues are on their way. None of you three are leaving here."
"Fine, I won't leave then. Let's see what kind of trouble you can cause. Do you think you're all that? I have more money than you can imagine! You know that?"
Shen Yizhou helped the landlady up and pulled He Tiantian back a step. He Tiantian rubbed her numb scalp; it was the first time in her life that someone had ever pulled her hair.
The woman from room 403 came out and said, "I'm sorry for causing trouble for everyone. They've come to cause me trouble."
"Hmph, you slut, I'll get someone to beat you to death! Make you spit out all the money my husband gave you!"
As the woman spoke, she slapped him across the face.
Police from Unit 402 immediately took her into custody. "This is outrageous! Let's see how powerful your connections are."
The other two women were a little scared; they didn't want to end up in the police station, so they ran down the stairs, leaving only the woman who was in charge.
