Chapter 555: Journey to the West 14 (1/2)

The late autumn wind swirled withered yellow leaves at the entrance of Chenjia Village. Fang Zhiyi stood beneath the old locust tree, his two-meter-tall black bear form like an iron tower. A black wind, tinged with a chilling demonic force, rustled the adobe walls at the village entrance, stirring even the gravel on the ground.

"A monster is coming!" A man who was turning over the grain at the threshing ground at the entrance of the village was the first to see the black wind. The wooden rake in his hand fell to the ground with a clang, and he turned around and ran home without even caring about the grain that had been drying for half a day.

Chaos spread instantly. A woman rushed into the house holding her son, completely ignoring her daughter who was crying in fear. A white-haired old man was so scared that his legs went weak and he collapsed on the ground, unable to crawl. He could only wave his crutch and trembled as he shouted "Help", but no one paid any attention to him. There was also a couple who pushed and shoved each other to get in.

In just a short moment, the village entrance was empty, leaving only the old man lying on the ground and the child who was forgotten by the woman and crying heartbreakingly outside.

"You guys are still the same as always... you have a show." Fang Zhiyi smiled.

After a long moment, perhaps unable to withstand the pressure, the village chief, leaning on his patinated cane, trembled once more. A fawning smile was plastered on his face, but his legs were shaking like sieves. "Monster, monstrous monster, what brings you here? What brings you here?" Suddenly, something struck him. "Is it about the virgin? I've prepared it today, but the time hasn't arrived yet. I'll bring it to you right away!"

Fang Zhiyi looked at him and said after a moment: "I remember you, as a village chief, not only did you not protect the villagers, but you also let those villagers push their children to die for your position as village chief, right?"

The village chief trembled: "I, I, I didn't..."

"And if I'm not mistaken, the ones being sacrificed are the girls you don't want, right?"

The village chief's whole body began to tremble, his brain working frantically, trying to find a perfect excuse.

But before he could think clearly, a huge claw was slowly placed on his head. The village chief didn't even have time to scream before Fang Zhiyi twisted his neck easily. With a crisp "click", his head rolled to the ground, and blood splattered on the ground, staining it red.

The black wind surged again, like a giant black net, enveloping the entire Chenjia Village. Fang Zhiyi did not enter the village, but simply stood quietly at the entrance. The demonic power in the black wind continued to seep into the village, entwining every villager.

They were afraid of the monster and were also horrified by the sudden death of the village chief, but... as night fell, they all fell asleep. Even the threat of death could not stop them from falling asleep.

The frightened villagers had the same dream at night. In the dream, their selfishness and ignorance were all exposed. In the dream, they also saw the black bear monster blocking the village entrance.

They were like bystanders, watching a guy who looked exactly like them push Chen Acui out to the monster. The monster took Chen Acui away, and they breathed a sigh of relief.

Someone started a fight because they wanted to seize Chen Acui's family's land. The village chief stepped forward to divide it up and everyone was satisfied. As for the old blind man, she didn't say a word.

Spring passed and winter came, and A Cui came back, but they were afraid of her, cursed her behind her back, and finally... burned her to death.

They looked at their other selves with excitement on their faces as they burned Chen A Cui to death.

Many people woke up suddenly, cold sweat covering their bodies.
