"I can do it!" the man patted his chest. "I have several brothers who make a living from renovations. Their prices are fair, and you'll be absolutely satisfied!"
Fang Zhiyi pouted: "How do you know I'll be satisfied?"
"Our prices are reasonable!" the man said quickly, trying to persuade him to stay.
Fang Zhiyi laughed: "The price is affordable, and then what? To be honest, I'm recommending it to someone else, you know?"
The man with the toad-like eyes immediately lit up and eagerly pulled out a pack of cigarettes: "Brother, look at you, I know the rules, absolutely no problem!"
The two exchanged a smile as if they were old acquaintances.
"Are they reliable?" Li Jianguo frowned as he looked at the group of people carrying things into the venue. Their eyes were darting around, and they didn't seem like good people at all.
"My older brother introduced us," Fang Wenxia whispered in Li Jianguo's ear, "and we got a good deal."
"Really?" Li Jianguo chuckled. "Your older brother is such a kind-hearted person."
“What’s this? He’s not very bright.” Fang Wenxia spoke to her husband without any restraint, pointing to her head. “He always acted like he was the eldest brother. If he weren’t strong, who would want to talk to him?”
"Shh, keep your voice down."
"Believe it or not, when we move in, my brother will give us a big red envelope."
Fang Wenxia's eyes were full of calculation and greed, while Li Xiaojun, who was squatting to the side, suddenly looked up and said, "I want my uncle's big red envelope too!"
"My son is so smart."
That same day, the two of them, along with Li Xiaojun, visited Fang Zhiyi's home again. However, something was strange. This time, Fang Zhiyi invited them to stay for dinner as well, but the food wasn't as good as before, and Liu Mei had a stern face throughout the meal.
Fang Zhiyi was still very enthusiastic, but this time he was noticeably more attentive to his daughter, serving little Fang Ting a lot of food.
Fang Wenxia was a little puzzled, but didn't ask anything until Liu Mei got up to leave. Then she asked, "Brother, what's wrong with sister-in-law?"
Fang Zhiyi waved his hand: "Oh dear, she's just being temperamental." He wiped Fang Ting's mouth and gestured for her to go play. Fang Ting skipped away.
"She's always saying that your second brother borrowed money from me and hasn't paid it back, and that you guys borrowed money from me for emergencies before. I got annoyed by it, so I argued with her for a bit, and that's how she got like this," Fang Zhiyi said with a wry smile.
"Uh..." Fang Wenxia was a little embarrassed. Although her older brother didn't mean to urge them to repay the money, it still made her feel awkward to say it like that.
Li Jianguo and she exchanged a glance, and Li Jianguo said, "Big brother, it's not that we don't want to pay you back. You know we just bought a house and we don't have much money on hand... Junjun's tutoring classes and such cost money. We'll pay you back as soon as we have a little more money."
Fang Zhiyi waved her hand: "We're family, no need for formalities! Don't be so polite!"
Just then, Fang Ning's angry roar rang out.
What are you doing!
The adults exchanged glances and quickly got up to go inside. They saw Li Xiaojun had used a red pen to scribble all over the white walls of Fang Ning's room, making them look terrible. Fang Ning's schoolbag was also covered in red pen marks.
Li Xiaojun was clearly frightened. When he saw his mother arrive, he immediately hid behind Fang Wenxia.
"Don't be afraid, son, don't be afraid." Fang Wenxia frowned and looked at him, then stared at Fang Ning. "It's not that your aunt is criticizing you, but you're so old, how can you hold a grudge against your younger brother? He's still a child!"
