Inside the tattered cloth wasn't a child, but a mutilated doll with two large characters written on it.
"Idiot"
"Old Li!" The man sensed something was wrong and looked up to speak, when he suddenly saw the burly man appear behind his companion.
"Holy shit!"
Old Li was hit in the back of the knee with a stick and fell to his knees. The leader, who tried to resist, was choked in the throat and dropped the hammer in his hand. He clutched his neck in pain and backed away.
"Are you alright, baby? Did I scare you?" Zhao Hu quickly stepped forward to comfort his girlfriend.
"Spare us! Spare us!" The remaining men threw down their weapons, for they were surrounded by twenty or thirty men, all with menacing expressions.
"Spare me? Haven't others begged you like that before?" Fang Zhiyi asked.
Several people were forced to kneel down.
"Spare my life is not impossible, but from today onwards, you will have to exchange your lives for your own." Fang Zhiyi narrowed his eyes, and the next moment, the leader who was clutching his neck in pain was twisted in two and his body fell to the ground.
"Tsk tsk." Looking at the terrified robbers, Zhao Hu shook his head. "No matter how many times I see it, I still think the boss's actions are too shocking."
Chen Rui remained silent, but simply ordered someone to bring out shackles and cuff the feet of the robbers together.
They had already encountered several groups of robbers, from lone robbers to gang robberies. Chen Rui believed Fang Zhiyi's words: the world had changed, and people would do anything to survive.
Fang Zhiyi led them to raid a prison, originally intending to find a gun, but they didn't find a gun, only a bunch of shackles.
Fang Zhiyi seemed to handle these robbers quite well. Usually, as long as the robbers backed down, he would take them into custody and make them follow the group.
At first, Chen Rui didn't know what Fang Zhiyi wanted to do. It wasn't until they occupied a relatively flat village and the villagers disappeared that Fang Zhiyi began to settle them down. Then... he used the bandits like donkeys, making them repair houses, make mud bricks from mud and dry grass, and then build them up as walls.
What would normally take more than a month of work was halved by the robbers under Fang Zhiyi's threats and intimidation. But that wasn't the end of it; they still wanted to do other work, such as land reclamation and well digging.
Fang Zhiyi said that this is called "maximizing value".
"Boss, how did you know there was water down there?"
"I already told you, I'm a fortune teller." Fang Zhiyi waved his hand at the panting robbers, and someone immediately pulled them up, then drove the others down to continue digging.
Chen Rui didn't know if Fang Zhiyi was telling the truth, but it seemed that he could always make accurate predictions.
The moment the water gushed out, the whole village cheered.
From refugees to now, they finally have a place to live, as well as fields and wells. Hope fills everyone's heart, and some people are even moved to tears.
However, this was just the beginning, and they soon encountered their first wave of attacks.
The reason is simple: a girl was in charge of delivering food to the robbers. She felt sorry for them when she saw them wolfing down their food. Several people with ulterior motives started to deceive them. After a while, the girl began to sympathize with them. Taking advantage of Fang Zhiyi's personal guards being away, she opened the door and released the men. The first thing they did after they came out was to take her hostage.
Surrounded, the robbers were arrogant: "Get out of my way! Or I'll kill her!"
Zhao Hu looked nervously at the broken tiles in the robber's hand, and hesitated.
