Chapter 1449 Little Jin

"Prince, you don't know, this boy is mute!" The attendant who had brought Gu Xin hot water got up and walked to Cheng Huaijin's side to explain.

"I feel much better, thank you for saving me, Prince!" He had just finished speaking when he heard Gu Xin's hoarse voice behind him.

The attendant stared at Gu Xin in shock and anger. "You won't speak to me? Is it because I look rougher than the prince? That's too much!"

The attendant was about to curse, but Cheng Huaijin waved him away: "Go make something soft to eat, we need to travel through the night!"

The attendant immediately bowed and agreed.

Cheng Huaijin sat down next to Gu Xin, tilting his head to look at her, but his gaze seemed to be directed at someone else.

"Brother Xiao Jin?" Gu Xin called softly.

“Hmm.” Cheng Huaijin smiled. “Now I am Prince Ahai Fengna of the Western Flowing Sand Kingdom. You can call me Prince Ahai.”

"Prince Ahai, it's so nice to see you." Gu Xin felt her eyes stinging. Wasn't all the suffering she had endured because of him?

"Hmm." Cheng Huaijin nodded, glanced at the attendants by the campfire, and asked softly, "Is my sister alright?"

“Okay, my sister is fine, our family is fine.” Gu Xin nodded. She knew that Brother Jin cared about her sister the most. “However, Brother Jin, Xiao Yu got married.”

Cheng Huaijin was taken aback, then his eyes lit up, and he asked excitedly, "You saw Xiaoyu? Is Xiaoyu still alive?"

Because he was excited, Cheng Huaijin's voice was a bit loud, and the busy attendants around him all looked over.

Cheng Huaijin realized he had lost his composure and glanced over, only to find his entourage busy with their own affairs again.

Cheng Huaijin stood up and called Gu Xin to move a short distance to the side.

He took off his cloak and draped it over Gu Xin, asking, "Xin Xin, is Xiao Yu really still alive? Is she doing well? Is the man she married good?"

His eyes were filled with hope.

Looking at Cheng Huaijin's trembling hands, she hesitated to reveal the truth, but felt she had to. So she said, "She was rescued by Aunt Peng Wu, the fifth daughter of the Peng family in Kuncheng. However, at the beginning of last year, she went to Jiangnan with Aunt Peng Wu. There, she met a man who lied to her, saying he knew about you, and she foolishly believed him. Aunt Peng Wu found out that the man was a playboy, a womanizer and lecher, but Xiaoyu wouldn't listen. In order to get information about you, she even got pregnant with that man's child. In the end, she went on a hunger strike and made a scene with Aunt Peng Wu, causing Aunt Peng Wu to lose her child as well. My uncle, who is Aunt Peng Wu's husband, made Xiaoyu marry him. My uncle was transferred to Linzhou as an official, and Xiaoyu stayed in Jiangnan."

Cheng Huaijin remained silent for a long time after hearing this.

Gu Xin looked at him, pursed her lips, and said, "Brother Xiao Jin, don't worry. That man knows that Aunt Peng is a daughter of the Peng family, and that your uncle is the prefect of Linzhou. He wouldn't dare to bully Xiao Yu."

Cheng Huaijin wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes: "Yes, I'm not worried. As long as she's alive, that's all that matters. She was too foolish. How could she give herself to someone based on uncertain news? It's my fault. I haven't found a chance to send a message back these past few years. It's all my fault! But, as long as she's alive, that's all that matters!"

Gu Xin nodded, thinking of her current predicament, and asked, "Brother Xiao Jin, is it far from Da Zhou? I want to go back, which direction should I go? How long will it take?"
