The next morning, after Zheng Qiu got up, she was stretching in the yard when she heard a knock on the door. It was someone from Uncle Gu's side delivering tables, chairs, benches, cups, plates, and bowls.
After greeting Zheng Qiu, the visitor left.
Looking at the two large round tables that could seat ten people, Zheng Qiu sighed. He was in for a busy day.
She wasn't one to procrastinate; after washing up, she made herself a simple breakfast and then went out to get groceries.
On the way, she met Du Sanniang.
"Young Master Zheng is buying groceries! I didn't expect you to be such a person who knows how to enjoy life!" After exchanging a few pleasantries, Du Sanniang said with a smile.
"Mr. Du, you flatter me. We just have guests coming over tonight, so we prepared so many dishes," Zheng Qiu explained simply.
"So that's how it is! I never expected that the first person I'd meet in the capital would be Young Master Zheng. I wonder if Young Master Zheng can manage all this by himself? I brought a cook with me this time, so he can help Young Master Zheng prepare dinner." Du San Niang said with a smile, looking at the cart full of meat and vegetables in Zheng Qiu's small cart.
Zheng Qiu's eyes darted around. She might not be able to handle the food for two tables by herself. Xin Xin said that she, Si Si, Xue Er, and En Zi could help out, but they were guests, so she couldn't really let them do the work.
She looked at Du San Niang: "Boss Du, it's like this, I've invited Miss Gu's family to my home for a while. You know Miss Gu, General Lu, and the Fourth Young Master. Since we've arranged to meet, why don't you come over as well?"
Du Sanniang was taken aback for a moment, then readily agreed: "Okay. Then give me your home address. I still have some things to take care of. I'll have someone bring the cook over after lunch. Is everything you need at home ready?"
Zheng Qiu nodded: "Yes, everything is ready. Then I'll be waiting for Boss Du's arrival."
Du Sanniang smiled and said a few more words, and then the two parted ways.
On her way back, Zheng Qiu thought that since there was a cook to help, she could just prepare all the ingredients and cook them herself, which wouldn't be troublesome.
A table with seventeen dishes isn't too many, but preparing them is a bit of a hassle.
It just so happens that Du San Niang is coming over with the cook this afternoon, so Xin Xin and the others won't need to help in the kitchen when they arrive.
Oh, and there's the man in white. He's openly declared his intention to pursue Boss Du, so we should give him a favor.
After Zheng Qiu returned home, she knocked on the door next door and asked the yamen runner next door, who worked at the yamen, to pass by the Gu family and inform Gu Xin that she had met Du Sanniang from Qi'an Town and had also invited Du Sanniang.
The constables naturally didn't understand what it meant, but Zheng Qiu believed that Gu Xin would definitely understand once she heard it.
Sure enough, when the yamen runners went to work in the afternoon, they made a trip to the Gu family's house.
Upon hearing the news, Gu Xin immediately sent someone to find Bai Yi.
Bai Yi hasn't been seen much lately, but everyone knows he's in the capital. The only ones who can find Bai Yi are Bai Er and his friends.
Gu Xin also complained to Gu Si and Gu Yingxue that Xiao Qiu was quite clever; she knew to call Bai Yi as soon as she saw Boss Du. She wasn't the cold and heartless coroner she seemed on the surface.
She didn't know that Zheng Qiu just wanted to keep them out of the kitchen so they could have some fun and borrow a cook from someone else. She hadn't initially intended to help Bai Yi.
