By the time the emperor finished dealing with his business and arrived, it was already the eighth day of the month.
Upon arriving at Sanchakou Village, he simply asked Grandpa Fu to leave his luggage in Lu Zheng's courtyard.
He knew that Lu Zheng was home alone, and that Old Madam Xiao had gone to the capital and wouldn't be back for a while.
"Mother, Xue Xiao'er and I will stay here. Would it be alright if you took Granny Gui and Bi Rong to stay at the Gu family's place?" Upon arriving in the village, the emperor remembered the issue of accommodation and asked.
"Anything is fine!" Empress Dowager Jiang was quite easy to please.
"Zhou Yuan, take us there!" the emperor said in a good mood.
As expected, the Empress Dowager is the most worry-free.
Zhou Yuan reluctantly led the group towards the Gu family's residence.
Many villagers greeted Zhou Yuan along the way. Zhou Yuan explained that these were his family's guests, and since his grandmother was not at home, he was taking the female relatives to the second branch of the Gu family.
The villagers of Sanchakou Village were speechless. "If you're so particular, what are you doing in the countryside?"
When visiting relatives in the countryside, who has so many houses dedicated solely to the women?
"Ah Yuan, you seem to be getting used to living in this village!" Empress Dowager Jiang said with a smile.
"Madam,..."
"No, don't add the word 'old.' How about you and the Gu family children call me 'Grandma'? I'm more comfortable with the title 'Grandma' than 'Old Madam,'" Empress Dowager Jiang interrupted Zhou Yuan.
No woman wants to get old; she doesn't like old ladies or grandmothers at all.
Lu Zheng glanced at the emperor, who said nothing, so he could only go along with it: "Grandma Jiang, before coming to Sanchakou Village, I lived in a manor. Although I didn't really experience farming, it was pretty much the same."
Empress Dowager Jiang glanced at Lu Zheng with pity: "I've also met your mother's child. To be honest, if your father hadn't gotten there first, I would have wanted that child to be my daughter-in-law. Unfortunately, I don't have that blessing."
Lu Zheng was startled; he hadn't known about this, but he didn't know how to respond to that.
The emperor was ashamed. The Duchess of Zhenguo was older than him, but she had the kind of personality he liked. Unfortunately, she had already met Lu Zheng's father first.
"Renren, why are you out playing again?" When they arrived at the old house, Lu Zheng looked speechlessly at Gu Ren, who was sitting at the door pulling weeds.
His words startled the child, who swayed to the side and fell face-first to the ground.
When Gu Ren saw Lu Zheng approaching to hug him, he quickly scrambled back into the house.
Unfortunately, his small arms and legs couldn't outrun those long legs, and Lu Zheng picked him up in one go.
"Eee-yah-yah!" Gu Ren waved her little fists, hitting Lu Zheng's face with exasperation.
"You brat, just wait until you grow up a bit, and see how I deal with you!" Lu Zheng grabbed his hand helplessly.
The emperor stepped forward and looked at Gu Ren with curiosity: "Zhou Yuan, when I came last time, wasn't he only three months old? It hasn't been that long, how come he can crawl out and play by himself, and even hit people?"
Gu Ren looked at the emperor, her little face scrunched up.
They're so disobedient! These people just won't listen!
What the heck?
None of them are following the script!
How can I bear this?
Gu Ren looked at Xue Qianyu again, hugged Lu Zheng's neck with a depressed expression, buried her head, and didn't want to see these annoying things anymore.
"Oh dear, this little boy is shy! He's so adorable! Ah Yuan, let me hold him!" Empress Dowager Jiang gently reached out and grabbed Gu Ren's arm.
"Grandma Jiang, this child recognizes people," Lu Zheng said helplessly.
Upon hearing the name Jiang, Gu Ren immediately raised his head, his eyes showing surprise as he looked at Empress Dowager Jiang.
"Oh! This child is so clever! Is he surprised because he heard you call me grandma? Does he think I don't look like a grandma?" Empress Dowager Jiang said happily.
Gu Ren thought for a moment, then stretched out his hand to Empress Dowager Jiang, babbling incoherently, drool dripping from the corner of his mouth.
