Chapter 2293 It's Raining

Another year passed, and the wife let go of the hurt caused by her husband's betrayal and stood up again.

With the money she received after the divorce, she opened a shop and lived a peaceful and uneventful life. She would only occasionally think of the shop assistant who had been with her for a month. Although he lived next door to her, the two of them had rarely seen each other in the past year.

Four months after her new store opened, it rained heavily that day. Actually, it rarely rains in the West, so people don't have the habit of using umbrellas.

She was walking in the middle of the road when suddenly the rain stopped. She sensed someone beside her, someone who was very tall.

She looked up and saw it was that guy.

"It's raining, here's an umbrella for you." The waiter took her hand and placed the umbrella in her hand.

She didn't know why, but she burst into tears in that instant.

The waiter was about to leave after handing over the umbrella, but when he saw her sudden outburst of emotion, he was so startled that he froze on the spot, at a loss for what to do.

"What are you doing? Why are you always leaving early and coming home late? Where do you eat your three meals a day? Why do you only go back to sleep?" she asked the waiter.

"I... I'm busy with business. Because I'm busy, I leave early and come home late. As for meals, I eat when I'm hungry, and forget about them when I'm not." The shop assistant scratched his head sheepishly and continued, "Because I'm worried about you living alone, I'm fine during the day, but I'm worried about you at night, so I go back to sleep every night. No matter how busy I am, I always go back to rest."

She was stunned for a moment, then cried even harder, her tears falling as fast as raindrops.

The man raised his hand, wanting to wipe away her tears, but he didn't dare, yet he felt sorry for her.

She returned the umbrella to him, then rushed into the rain and ran towards home.

How could the guy let her get soaked in the rain? He chased after her and hugged her tightly.

She struggled, but she was too small to resist.

That day, in her waiter's arms, she cried out all the bitterness that had been building up in her heart since being betrayed by her husband. She cried until she was exhausted and then fainted.

The guy carried her back.

When she woke up the next day, she found the pastries and leafy greens that she had eaten many times before on her bedside table.

At that moment, she felt at peace.

The man didn't do anything to her; he simply put her on the bed, covered her with a blanket, and left.

Fortunately, she didn't get too wet in the rain. The waiter's umbrella appeared shortly after it started raining; otherwise, he would have had to consider whether to change her wet clothes.

She ate something and went outside, only to find that her yard hadn't changed much. The air after the rain was fresh, and she had never felt so comfortable.

She was startled when half a figure appeared on the courtyard wall. When she saw it was her friend, her heart started pounding for no reason.

"Are you awake? Did you sleep well?" the waiter asked.

"Weren't you busy with business today?" she asked instead of answering.

"Hmm, not busy today," the waiter replied. Of course not busy; he was just worried about her getting sick alone.

“I slept very well. Thank you for yesterday,” she said, giving him a smile.

The man scratched his head and gave a simple, honest smile.

She opened her eyes wide in surprise and pointed to the sky behind the waiter: "Look, a rainbow!"

The man turned his head, and there was indeed a rainbow hanging in the sky. Its seven colors perfectly mirrored his mood at that moment.

It turns out that the saying in the east is true: with you by my side, life is full of color.
