"I've long heard that the Gu family's daughters are all intelligent and beautiful, but seeing is believing!" the man said with a raised eyebrow and a smile.
Gu Xin took the grilled meat and sat cross-legged on the ground to eat it.
What's there to be afraid of? She has the jade beads as an antidote; nothing, no matter how poisonous, can harm her.
The man went back into the woods, took out another roasted chicken, and sat down not far from Gu Xin to eat it.
Gu Xin finished the whole chicken, but it wasn't enough; it was enough to fill her stomach.
“Miss Gu, I am Ayelin. As you said, I am the son of the King of the Sand God Kingdom. However, I am someone who is imprisoned and cannot leave the country for many years. The farthest I have ever been is this forest.” After finishing the roast chicken, Ayelin introduced himself.
"Since you know I was captured and taken to the Sand God King's tent, you wouldn't be thinking of taking me back, would you?" Gu Xin asked.
"Of course not. Not to mention you, I myself want to escape! I've heard that there's a chaotic city outside the west gate of Kuncheng in the Great Zhou Dynasty, and I'd like to live there!" Ayelin said with longing.
"Ha!" Gu Xin sneered, "Are you suggesting we find a way together, go to Kuncheng together? Do you think I'd believe you?"
Ayerlin smiled but remained silent.
Gu Xin looked up at the sky, which was overcast and she couldn't see the sun or tell which way to go.
Dad, Mom, Sister, I miss you so much!
Brother Yuanyuan, didn't you say you wouldn't put me in any dangerous situation? Where are you?
Gu Xin's eyes stung a little. She sniffed and calmed herself down.
Ayelin looked at Gu Xin; even though she was disheveled, this young lady from the Great Zhou Dynasty still possessed an alluring charm.
Gu Xin felt Ayelin's gaze, turned her head to look at him, and glared at him: "Why are you looking at me?"
Ayerlin replied with a smile, "It looks good."
Gu Xin drew her short knife and pointed it at Ayelin: "Don't look, or I'll gouge your eyes out!"
"Hahahaha..." Ayelin laughed heartily, "Not only is she a beauty, but she's also a stunningly beautiful and domineering flower!"
Gu Xin got annoyed by his laughter, and since she didn't like the color either, she took action directly.
She wasn't carrying a dagger, and the sandbags had been removed. She was incredibly agile, and Ayelin was forced to retreat repeatedly, only dodging and not parrying, which annoyed Gu Xin even more.
Suddenly, Ayelin restrained Gu Xin, pinned her hands behind her back, and dragged her by the back of her collar into the woods.
He was incredibly fast. Gu Xin tried to struggle, but when she saw a cavalry caravan approaching from afar, she instinctively stopped moving.
“Third Miss Gu, the King and the First Prince’s men are here. There’s a hiding place in the woods. I’ll take you there, but don’t make a sound. I can beat you, but I can’t beat so many people,” Ayelin warned Gu Xin when he saw that she had noticed the situation.
"I can walk by myself!" Gu Xin's eyes flickered, she pursed her lips, and struggled for a moment.
“Miss Gu, don’t even think about using me to threaten them. The king has eleven sons, and I am just the least noticeable one among them. One more or one less makes no difference.” Ayelin saw through Gu Xin’s thoughts at a glance.
Gu Xin thought about it for a moment and then dismissed the idea.
The hiding place Ayelin mentioned was a thatched hut in the forest. He led Gu Xin into the hut and told her to hide on the roof beam.
The sound of horses' hooves grew closer, and Gu Xin could only trust this one time.
Sure enough, a short while later, voices came from the woods. Ayelin went outside, sat on a deck chair, and relaxed.
