Gu Shouxin stopped Gu Nian from making a move and instead held her back.
Gu Nian turned her head and looked at Gu Shouxin with a puzzled expression.
"Just a small trick," Gu Shouxin said softly.
Gu Nian pouted.
Okay, she's just being a little fussy; she can't move her muscles properly anymore.
Just as Gu Shouxin said, it was indeed a petty act; two groups of young masters got drunk and started a brawl with their servants.
As soon as Cheng Rui went out, and the yamen runners happened to be patrolling nearby, the two groups actually stopped.
Lord Cheng took his leave and went back to his office to handle some matters.
"Rui'er, aren't you going with your father?" Madam Cheng asked, somewhat surprised.
“I’m not going. I’ve run into them several times. Their families will come and take them away in a bit. They’ll just say it’s just friends playing around. Even if Father wants to punish them, there’s nothing he can do!” Cheng Rui shook his head and gave a sarcastic laugh.
"Sigh! These children..." Mrs. Cheng sighed, then gestured for the Gu family of four to sit down. "It's alright, let's continue."
This conversation lasted for quite a while.
Finally, the two families decided to produce a batch of 100 boxes for the time being, which Mrs. Cheng would recommend to the ladies of Taoyuan County who would visit her regularly.
Mrs. Cheng declined to accept any profit, saying she was simply helping a friend promote the product.
Finally, Cheng Rui also intervened, and Cai Xiaolian and Gu Nian decided to let it go.
They could tell that Madam Cheng and her son were very determined to cooperate with them.
Let's cooperate then. Anyway, there are only two ways to cooperate, and they won't lose out in either one.
When the two families parted, Cheng Huaiyu held onto Gu Xin's sleeve tightly.
"Yu'er, be good. Xin Xin is going home now. How about you come to play with Yu'er again next time?" Madam Cheng advised.
Cheng Huaiyu remained unmoved and continued to hold onto Gu Xin tightly.
"Aunt Sun, shall I talk to Xiaoyu?" Gu Xin thought of the jade beads she had given Cheng Huaiyu while feeding her pumpkin seeds, and intuitively felt that this young lady wanted to eat the jade beads, so she said.
"Okay, thank you, Xinxin," Mrs. Cheng said with a smile.
Gu Xin pulled Cheng Huaiyu aside and whispered in Cheng Huaiyu's ear, "Xiaoyu, I'll bring you something delicious next time I come, okay?"
Cheng Huaiyu blinked her big eyes at Gu Xin.
"I'll bring you all the good food you ate today," Gu Xin said softly.
Cheng Huaiyu pursed her lips, paused for a moment, and then clenched her fist and extended her little finger.
As a child, Gu Xin naturally understood what this meant, and immediately held up her little finger: "Pinky promise, a hundred years from now, never to be broken! If Xin Xin deceives Xiao Yu, she'll turn into a puppy!"
Cheng Huaiyu smiled at Gu Xin.
"Oh! Mother, look, my little sister is smiling! She's smiling at Xin Xin!" Cheng Huaijin exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes, yes! It seems Yu'er really likes Xin Xin." Madam Cheng was also very excited, turning to Cai Xiaolian and saying, "Lianmei, you must take Xin Xin to play in the city more often!"
“Okay! I’ll bring Xinxin whenever she has time and wants to come!” Cai Xiaolian agreed.
Besides her sisters at home, Xinxin only has Sun Yumei as a friend outside. She doesn't have any playmates of the same age. She also wants Xinxin to have more friends, even though Cheng Huaiyu is different from normal children.
As long as her daughter Xinxin is happy!
"Oh! Sister Nian, I'm also reluctant to part with you. Should I hold onto your clothes and not let you go, and then you make a pinky promise with me that you'll bring me lots of delicious food in the future?" Cheng Huaijin looked at Gu Nian with envy and asked longingly.
