75 Skin 16 || Borrowing Life 1

Stay calm, you must stay calm. The more you panic now, the more you should think carefully about the details of the entire game.

He remembered that on the first night, the nurse outside the door spotted him but didn't force her way in. Last night, she just showed up in the ward without knocking. It was obvious she was going to kill him last night. Yan Shuang tried to recall if he had done anything different from the others in the past few days. Why did the nurse have to kill him?

So, the nurses in the hospital are the key?

Why did the nurses in the hospital become ghosts? And where did the patients in the ward where the players died go? Did they really die with the players? But neither Jing Ning nor Ye Jing'an had seen any other bodies. Or perhaps, those patients weren't dead at all, and had no symbiotic relationship with the players, and their previous speculation was wrong.

So the only way to confirm now is to go to the morgue and confirm whether the patient is there.

After figuring this out, Yan Shuang knew where he should go now, because Jing Ning had the same idea as him.

Yan Shuang thought so and hurriedly followed his footsteps.

Jing Ning turned his head to look at him, pressed the elevator switch, and said to the people behind him: "I want to go to the morgue, you can wait upstairs."

The new woman froze. "Didn't Doctor Lin say not to go to the basement?"

The elevator door opened, and Jing Ning and Yan Shuang walked in decisively.

Jing Ning never forces anyone to travel with him. He just wants to be alone and it doesn't matter if someone follows him.

Needless to say, Ye Jing'an would go wherever Yan Shuang went.

Tian Yiyi held Xu Yaoyu's cold hand, as if this could give her more warmth and courage, and followed her into the elevator.

"I only said it's not necessary." Lin Haichen spread his hands and said to the remaining three newcomers, his tone somewhat helpless, "Obviously, we can't wait for any clues now." After saying that, he left without hesitation.

Zhou Xia narrowed his eyes slightly, a sinister and vicious look flashed in his eyes, he cursed the national quintessence in a hoarse voice, with a ferocious look on his face, and walked into the elevator silently.

The boy and the new woman were left looking at each other. Their eyes met, and they could each feel the other's uneasiness.

"I'll go with them too." Finally, Xiaozai made up his mind and said, "I don't have much time left."

The woman's face turned pale. Seeing everyone decide to go to the basement, leaving her alone in the lobby, a wave of fear washed over her. She gritted her teeth and, at the last moment, reached out to stop the elevator door. "I'm going too," her voice trembled, but she squeezed in with determination.

The elevator door slowly closed again, and it went down very quickly. In less than a minute, it reached the basement floor.

When the elevator door opened again, a gust of cold wind blew in and the temperature dropped several degrees instantly.

Yan Shuang pulled up her blood-stained coat, trying to warm herself up.

The underground first floor was filled with parked cars, the dust covering the area revealing its long-standing abandon. A few worn-out lamps hung overhead, emitting a dim glow that gave the entire floor a gloomy feel.

Jing Ning had been here for two nights in a row and had thoroughly explored the surroundings, especially the path to the morgue, which he knew almost by heart. He led the others carefully around several walls before finally arriving at a seemingly unremarkable door.

Compared to the other doors upstairs, this door is from a completely different era. Over time, the original blue wooden door has gradually lost its color, turning into the gray-blue it is today. Furthermore, the paint has peeled off in some places, revealing the original color of the wood, making it look particularly mottled.

The three words "Mortuary" on the left wall looked like they were casually written with a brush.

"This place is just like a storage room." Lin Haichen couldn't help but complain.

If Yan Shuang hadn't seen the words next to it, her first reaction would have been that it was an abandoned storage room. Fortunately, there was no lock on the door.

However, Jing Ning did not open the door immediately, but squatted on the ground, as if looking for something.

"Is there something wrong?" Yan Shuang asked.

Jing Ning didn't say anything, but stretched out his fingers and touched the gap under the door. After a while, a piece of paper was pulled out by him.

"Wow, the boss is the boss. He even knows there is a note in the gap." Ye Jing'an exclaimed as he looked at the white paper in Jing Ning's hand.

Jing Ning replied in the calmest tone, "I put it there." Then he took the paper in his hand and repeatedly checked the creases on it.

"Oh." Ye Jing'an didn't know when he released it, but since the boss did it, he must have his reasons.

Yan Shuang understood. Jing Ning had placed the A4 paper at a very tricky angle. Any crease on the paper would indicate that someone had opened the door after they left. There were only two possibilities for this: either someone outside had entered, or something inside had escaped.

Jing Ning pushed open the dilapidated wooden door only after he made sure there were no folds on the paper.

"Squeak--" The sound of the door opening echoed in the room. It was pitch dark in the room, and the smell of disinfectant was even stronger than that upstairs.

Relying on his memory, Jing Ning found the power switch by the door and pressed it. A crackling sound came from above his head, followed by a dim light that flickered for a moment before it came on completely.

"There is actually electricity here," said Xu Yaoyu.

Ye Jingan pinched his nose and continued, "If there's no electricity, it will stink, right?"

With the not-so-bright light, Yan Shuang observed the scene inside the house. Each cabinet was clearly marked with the name and room number, which made it much easier for them to find it.

"Come on, friends, there are four rooms. Let's search in groups of two and make sure we get it done quickly." Lin Haichen said.

The morgue received countless passers-by in silence. The dim lights swayed in the corners, forming patches of mottled light and shadow, but could not dispel the chill and silence inside.

Here, time seemed to have frozen, and everything was so quiet, without a sound. Only the occasional, tooth-grinding sound of shoes scraping against the ground could be heard. They were busy searching, their figures looming in the darkness.

Yan Shuang looked at the rows of cabinets, and there was no number starting with 18 on this wall.

"Do you have it?" Yan Shuang asked.

Jing Ning opened a cabinet and pulled out the stiff corpse inside. After taking a look, he pushed the door back in and closed it. "This wall only belongs to players."

"Where is Jing'an?" Ye Jing'an was in the same room with them. Yan Shuang asked while looking up and checking the high cabinet.

No sound.

"Ye Jing'an?" Yan Shuang thought he didn't hear her, so she called out again.
