Before the five people could react, Zhang Kai said to himself: "My stomach hurts so much, I feel like it's going to burst." His face was full of pain, and he covered his stomach tightly with his hands.
Yan Shuang carefully observed Zhang Kai's belly and found that it seemed to be a little bigger than before. Because the clothes he was wearing didn't fit him well, the exposed skin was covered with purple veins, which looked extremely scary.
"What's that on your stomach!" Xu Yaoyu screamed.
"What?" The man wanted to lower his head to look, but now this action was extremely difficult. He tried several times but failed. He couldn't help but get annoyed. "What's on my stomach? Speak! Speak!"
Xu Yaoyu was frightened by him and retreated again and again, while Zhang Kai moved forward.
Suddenly, Zhang Kai stopped, his limbs twitched, and the muscles on his face twisted into a ball.
"vomit-"
In an instant, the whole room was filled with a disgusting smell of decay and fermentation.
Yan Shuang was unable to open her eyes because of the stench of a corpse that had been dead for ten years. Fortunately, she moved quickly, otherwise she would have died.
Xu Yaoyu was the first one who couldn't stand it anymore. He ran out of the door, breathed in the fresh air, and retched.
Yan Shuang found two pieces of paper and blocked her nostrils with them, then distributed the rest to others, so that her sense of smell was relieved.
Looking at it again, it seemed that tissues were no longer effective. The vomit contained undigested food from the previous morning, as well as some bright red blood, flesh, and organs.
He swore that he would never eat any animal offal again in his life.
"Ahhhh!!!" Zhang Kai fell to the ground, screaming miserably. He looked ahead with empty eyes, his pupils dilated, and blood flowing out of the corners of his mouth with his breathing. His originally bulging belly had now deflated.
"Tear—" Many cuts of varying sizes suddenly appeared on his skin, crisscrossing like a spider web. Some were so deep that the bones were visible, and blood was oozing out.
Finally, even the struggling movement stopped. What Zhang Kai vomited gradually began to fade and eventually disappeared, along with him.
It was as if nothing had happened, as if Zhang Kai had never been here, and everything was an illusion.
For the past twenty years, Yan Shuang seemed to have lived a calm life except for a salary increase that made his heart beat faster. Now that two people died in front of him one after another, Yan Shuang felt a little overwhelmed.
To be honest, he didn't have a good impression of Zhang Kai, but it shouldn't have ended like this.
But who can escape from this huge cage?
"Is it...my turn soon?" Xiao Zhang's eyes became dull. He had obviously been frightened out of his mind by the horrific scene just now. He didn't want to die like that.
Yan Shuang tried to calm down and turned to Jing Ning, "Where does the door usually appear?"
"Generally speaking, it won't be too far from us." Jing Ning took his emotion into consideration and continued, "You could also understand that the core of this game is the door."
"It's not in our house, is it?" Xu Yaoyu said.
Lin Haichen: "No, there are no other rooms in this house."
Xu Yaoyu: "But we haven't been to other places."
Jing Ning said: "Go and take a look at the houses of those villagers."
"How do you see it?" Yan Shuang asked in confusion.
Soon he got the answer. Jing Ning walked in with a swagger. There was no one in the room. It was a gloomy day today, so the room was very dim.
They searched the house thoroughly but found no useful information.
They then looked for a few more companies, and the results were the same.
"Changing to another one?" Yan Shuang asked.
Jing Ning thought for a moment and replied, "Does anyone know where that old lady from yesterday lived?"
"That one." Yan Shuang pointed to a house not far away.
Everyone looked in the direction of his finger and saw a slightly old but fairly tidy house.
"Let's go." Jing Ning said.
The door was closed. Lin Haichen knocked on the door and shouted, "Auntie, Auntie."
"He probably isn't at home." Xu Yaoyu said.
Jing Ning looked at the tightly closed door, then at the window. He reached out and shook it, and the window became shaky. He pulled it hard, and it opened up to a size just large enough for one person to pass through.
Then he pushed himself upwards with both hands and successfully climbed into the house, with Yan Shuang following closely behind.
"What should I do?" Xu Yaoyu looked at the height of the windowsill and said anxiously.
"Just wait outside and find a place to hide. If Auntie comes back, make some noise." Lin Haichen said.
Xu Yaoyu walked around and hid behind a pile of firewood.
The people in the house once again began a carpet search, carefully checking every corner and every object, hoping to find more clues.
Yan Shuang was no exception, he focused on searching for those places that were easy to miss. Finally, in a dusty box, Yan Shuang found a yellowed notebook.
This notebook looked quite old, with yellowed paper and frayed edges, but it caught Yan Shuang's attention. He carefully picked up the notebook and gently opened the first page, which was densely covered with words and symbols.
"Come and see." Yan Shuang shouted.
"What did you find?" Jing Ning rushed over after hearing the voice.
Yan Shuang had just handed him the notebook when Xu Yaoyu's shrill voice came from outside the house, "Auntie, where have you been? I was looking for you."
"What do you want from me?" the old lady said in a cold tone.
Jing Ning put the notebook into his pocket and said, "Go out first."
They climbed out of the window, walked around, and finally came to Xu Yaoyu.
At this point, Xu Yaoyu's face flushed red, and she was so nervous she could barely speak. She only stammered, not knowing how to answer. It wasn't until she saw the four of them appear that she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Haichen was the first to ask, "We were wondering, do you eat meat? Why don't we see any poultry in the village?"
The old lady's face remained gloomy as she replied coldly, "I don't want to eat it."
"Oh, okay then." Yan Shuang said and pulled everyone away.
After walking a distance, Xu Yaoyu patted his chest and said, "You didn't see it. The look in Auntie's eyes just now was as if she wanted to eat someone."
"You've done a great job." Lin Haichen comforted her with a smile on his face.
"Huh, luckily I reacted quickly." Xu Yaoyu said happily: "By the way, did you find anything?"
"Let's talk about it when we get back." Lin Hai said solemnly.
At this time, the sky was covered with dark clouds, and the clouds were getting lower and lower. The few people quickened their pace and just as they entered the house, there was a loud "boom" that shook the windows and heavy rain poured down.
Several people in the room sat around the kerosene lamp, carefully flipping through the tattered notebook.
After Jing Ning flipped through a few pages, Yan Shuang said embarrassedly, "The room was dark at the time, and I put it in the box. I thought it would be a diary or something, but it turned out to be just a playbook."
Jing Ning did not answer and continued to flip through the opera book in his hand.
"Brother Yan Shuang is fine. Let's go out and look for him after the rain stops." Xu Yaoyu said.
"I don't know how long it will take to stop." Yan Shuang began to get anxious.
