Chapter 83 Xiyun Cooking

"Wait a minute, help me out," she added.

"Pfft," Sui Xin took the apron, unable to help but laugh. Xi Yun's serious and determined attitude was somewhat amusing.

"What are you laughing at? When you make it, it'll shock you for five hundred years."

"Okay, okay, I don't have high requirements, as long as it's edible."

"You... just wait and see."

Xi Yun, puffing out her cheeks, helped Sui Xin tie her apron as well.

He walked up to the cutting board, rolled up his sleeves, and thought for a few seconds.

The first step is to slice the meat.

With his left hand, he took out a pound of meat from a bag on the side, washed it slightly, picked up a cleaver with his right hand, made a few gestures on the meat, and then started cutting.

"Wow, that's amazing! I wonder if the boiled pork chunks will taste good."

Sui Xin watched from the side, somewhat amused and exasperated. Those lumps of meat didn't look like meat slices at all.

"Hmph, you cut it, I'll go wash the scallions."

Xi Yun couldn't understand it. She usually watched Lu Yeling cut the slices with such ease, but when it came to her own hands, the slices looked so ugly. So, she decisively handed the slices to Sui Xin.

I never felt this difficult when practicing swordsmanship.

"What? Aren't you the one cooking?" Sui Xin asked after a few seconds of surprise.

“Yes, you can help me cut the meat, and then I’ll cook it, right?” Xi Yun said matter-of-factly.

"I don't know how to cut it either."

"I don't care, hurry up, I need it soon," Xi Yun said, exuding the air of a master chef, even though she didn't have great culinary skills. She commanded everything with remarkable skill.

"Alright, little auntie," Suixin had no choice but to pick up the kitchen knife and give it a try.

As it turned out, he wasn't very good at it either.

The meat was too soft; when you cut it, it just came out as one big lump, very thick and uneven in size.

"Pfft," Xi Yun said she was going to wash the scallions, but she stood behind and kept watching, and couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"Hehe, Yun'er, how about we just have some meat soup instead?" Sui Xin said.

For meat broth, all you need to do is chop all the meat into very small pieces; it's that simple and straightforward.

"Okay," Xi Yun agreed without hesitation.

After assigning tasks, the two began preparations.

I chopped the meat into small pieces and put it in a bowl, then cleaned the fish and sprinkled some salt on it.

That's what my mother did.

Because of his good memory and the fact that he had seen it several times, he could still remember most of the steps in between.

Xi Yun prepared the side dishes, peeling some ginger, garlic, and washing perilla leaves and greens, putting them all in a dish for later use.

"Come on, Yun'er, it's time for you to show your skills."

After finishing what needs to be done, make some room for Xiyun.

At the same time, he was also very curious, wondering what Xiyun would turn out like.

"Hehe, this great chef is about to begin," Xi Yun said with a light smile, full of enthusiasm.

He lit a fire, poured some oil into the pot, picked up the bowl of meat with his left hand and the spatula with his right, seemingly hesitant, unsure when to add the meat.

Seeing the oil in the pot boil, Xi Yun gritted her teeth and poured the meat in.

"Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle," the moisture inside the meat started to burst everywhere as soon as it came into contact with the oil, and Xi Yun quickly stirred it.

When the meat is almost cooked, add half a bowl of water, salt, and chopped green onions; finally, take it out in a larger bowl.

Her technique seemed clumsy; she was incredibly busy with just a few small movements, and when Sui Xin tried to help from behind, she wouldn't let her.

Sui Xin watched Xi Yun from behind. A fragrant aroma wafted out, and it seemed to be the right one. She wondered what it tasted like.

After Xi Yun finished cooking the meat soup, Sui Xin suddenly looked to the side and saw that the rice hadn't been cooked yet; the small rice cooker that was originally used for cooking rice was still empty.

Then, he went to cook on the other side and didn't pay much attention to Xiyun.

When he finished lighting the fire and cooking the rice, and came back to check, Xiyun had secretly turned a black fish around.

"Cough cough, it's okay, it's just a little dark, it's still edible," Xi Yun said somewhat guiltily.

The fish got burnt by accident, but it should still be edible, right?

"Oh, then Yun'er, you eat, I'll just eat the meat," Sui Xin teased.

“No, you have to eat with me,” Xi Yun said, turning to look at Sui Xin with a firm tone.

You absolutely must eat it.

"Hey, hey, look at the pot! It's going to turn black again!"

"Ah, oh"

As expected, the other side of the fish also turned black, and some black ash fell off the surface when touched, and it was also a bit sticky to the pan.

However, Xiyun did not give up and continued to cook as usual, adding water, perilla, ginger, garlic and other ingredients; when it was finally cooked, a layer of black charcoal floated on the surface of the fish soup.

It's not that it tastes bad, but it certainly doesn't look good.

Looking at the fish soup, I didn't know what to say. Is this even edible?
