Chapter 26 You're his wife, if he doesn't listen, twist his ear.
Wenxi dreamed all night last night, and it was all about her childhood.
She hadn't slept well, so she didn't go for her morning run.
She was unaware that Shang Chen had misunderstood her bad mood, and she had forgotten that she had complained about Shang Chen being noisy last night.
After finishing her meal, Wenxi went to the law firm.
In the afternoon, she was in a meeting when she suddenly received a phone call.
"Hello?"
"Sister-in-law... I am Shang Ze."
Shang Ze?
Although Wenxi and Shang Chen have been married for almost a month, she is not very familiar with Shang Chen's younger brother and sister.
She never expected Shang Ze to call her.
Wenxi cut to the chase and asked, "Is there something you need?"
Shang Ze's tone was weak: "Sister-in-law, I'm at the police station. Can you come and pick me up?"
"What happened?"
Shang Ze: "I got into a fight... My parents are on vacation abroad, and I don't dare tell my brother."
"Sister-in-law, please!"
Wenxi glanced at Director Liu, who was speaking eloquently upstairs, and quietly told Director Huang, "I'm going to the police station."
Director Huang assumed she was going to the police station to pick up the person in question and nodded.
No matter how important a law firm meeting is, it can't compare to the client's affairs.
When Wenxi sneaked out of the meeting room, her other colleagues looked at her with envy.
Wenxi drove to the police station and followed the procedures to pick up Shang Ze.
She had become familiar with the local police officers, and only after asking did she learn that Shang Ze had beaten up one of his school's teachers outside of school.
Wenxi: "What's the reason?"
"He wouldn't say," the police officer said helplessly. "Young people are all hot-tempered and stubborn."
When Wenxi saw Shang Ze, she said, "I've come to take you away, but I won't help you keep what happened today from your brother."
A bitter look immediately appeared on Shang Ze's handsome face: "Sister-in-law, could you please not tell my brother?"
Wenxi: "No."
“I’m not clear on the situation, and you don’t have the ability to cover up your actions right now, so I will definitely tell your brother.”
Shang Ze cried out, "Sister-in-law, my brother will scold me to death..."
"Then why did you still fight?" Wen Xi leaned back in her chair, her cool demeanor revealing a hint of leisure: "Looks like I haven't disciplined you enough."
Shang Ze's lips twitched.
Wenxi: "I won't hide it from your brother, but if you can explain the reason for the fight and there are extenuating circumstances, I can speak on your behalf."
"What if there's no other way to save them?"
Wenxi looked at him quietly, "Should I call your brother over now?"
Shang Ze: "..."
Shang Ze knew his brother would find out sooner or later.
However, the severity of the situation was completely different when Shang Chen came to the police station to pick him up and when he was told about it at home afterwards.
Shang Ze chose to be honest: "That old bastard always secretly takes advantage of a girl in our class. Sister-in-law, I didn't say anything because I don't have any evidence, and it would be bad for her reputation if I told anyone."
"If there's no evidence, how can you be sure?"
"I saw it with my own eyes!"
Wenxi lowered her eyes. "I'll take you back first, and then find a chance to tell your brother the truth."
Shang Ze looked at Wen Xi expectantly: "Sister-in-law, you must put in a good word for me!"
Wenxi: "I'll try my best, but your brother might not listen to me."
“He’ll definitely listen. You’re his wife. If he doesn’t listen, just twist his ear.”
Wenxi: "?"
Shang Ze: "That's how my mom treats my dad. If you treat my brother like this, he definitely won't dare to say a word!"
Wenxi: "..."
Shang Chen, do you know you have a wonderful younger brother?
Wen Xi spread her hands, a half-smile on her face, and said, "You're so afraid of your brother, I'm afraid too. How could I possibly have the guts to twist your brother's ear?"
Just imagining this scene is outrageous.
Upon hearing this, Shang Ze felt somewhat annoyed: "...That's true."
Wenxi: "Have you made arrangements with the female classmate? You hit her like this, which might implicate her."
Shang Ze said dejectedly, "I didn't mention her, and that old beast doesn't know why either."
Shang Ze called a professor surnamed Wan from Peking University, who was over fifty years old.
Wenxi brought Shang Ze to meet the other party.
Professor Wan spoke with a stern face: "Are you his parent? Is this how you raise your child?"
"Ambushing and assaulting a teacher on the way home shows a complete lack of manners and character; they are utter scum of society!"
"You parents will be taught a lesson sooner or later for raising such a degenerate!"
"Professor Wan, right? My name is Wen Xi." Wen Xi calmly took out a business card from her bag and handed it to Professor Wan.
"I am Shang Ze's sister-in-law, and also a lawyer."
Professor Wan, who was cursing, suddenly stopped.
When Shang Ze put a sack over his head and beat him, he cursed a lot, and he vaguely guessed the reason.
Although he did it discreetly, it's hard to guarantee that no one saw it and left any evidence.
Shang Ze's sister-in-law is a lawyer. If she really takes this seriously and goes to court, and the matter gets out, he, as a professor, will be severely punished, if not killed.
Professor Wan raised his chin and said tactfully, "I'm a teacher, and I can't be petty with my students. As long as Shang Ze apologizes to me, this matter will be over."
Wenxi rested her hand on the table and patted Shang Ze on the shoulder.
Suppressing his disgust, Shang Ze reluctantly said, "I'm sorry."
Professor Wan met Wen Xi's indifferent gaze: "Shang Ze's actions are a disgrace to Peking University. I hope you will discipline him properly when you return."
"Yes, we will." Wen Xi smiled faintly, speaking casually, "I think we should meet again if we have the chance."
Professor Wan's face immediately darkened. "Then there's no need for that!"
What kind of meeting did he have with a lawyer?!
After hearing Shang Ze's apology, Professor Wan left in a hurry without asking about the medical expenses.
Shang Ze asked in disbelief, "He just left like that?"
Wenxi glanced at him: "What else? Let's fight again?"
Shang Ze immediately chickened out.
He felt that although his sister-in-law was not as serious as his older brother, she gave off a similar vibe and was quite intimidating.
As Shang Ze followed Wen Xi through the police station corridor, they suddenly ran into an acquaintance.
He exclaimed in shock, "Sister-in-law, Yan Xu!"
Wen Xi followed Shang Ze's gaze and saw Yan Xu following behind a policewoman with a sullen face.
His face was bruised and purple, making it look like he had just been in a fight.
Yan Xu heard someone call his name and subconsciously looked up.
Upon seeing Wenxi, he felt embarrassed for a moment and subconsciously turned his head away, trying to avoid Wenxi's gaze.
The policewoman who happened to be with Yan Xu was familiar with Wen Xi and asked with a smile, "Lawyer Wen, here to pick someone up again?"
"Hmm." Wen Xi said calmly, "The kids in the family are immature and got into a fight and came in."
The policeman clicked his tongue: "Young people these days have such short tempers. The guy next to me was also brought here for fighting."
When the police turned around, they saw that Yan Xu was turning his head away and refused to look at anyone directly, as if he was avoiding someone.
Sensing something amiss, she smiled and asked, "Wen Lu, do you know him?"
Wen Xi's gaze was calm and composed as she uttered three words slowly and deliberately: "I don't know her."
Yan Xu suddenly turned his head and stared at Wen Xi with wide eyes.
Wenxi: "I'm taking my brother back first."
"Wen Lu, you only have an older brother, when did you have a younger brother?"
"My husband's younger brother."
"No wonder, the young man is quite handsome." The policewoman glanced at Shang Ze. "Try to fight less in the future, and resolve things peacefully."
Shang Ze obediently listened to the instruction: "I understand."
Wenxi smiled faintly.
As the two were talking, Yan Xu bit his lip and glared at Wen Xi with resentment, as if he wanted to burn a hole in Wen Xi's body.
How dare Wen Xi say she didn't know him?!
After their conversation, Wenxi led Shang Ze to the hall, without glancing at Yan Xu once.
Upon arriving at the hall, Wenxi bumped into Yan Zhao, who had rushed over.
