Chapter 25 Is Wenxi disgusted with him?

Chapter 25 Is Wenxi disgusted with him?

Upon hearing Xi mention her childhood, Shang Chen asked, "And then what happened?"

Wenxi lifted her eyelids to look at him, and smiled slightly. "Later, my paper boat won an award."

Zhou Ru praised, "Winning an award shows that you are quite skillful, Xixi."

Wenxi: "...My brother thought my one was too ugly and was afraid I'd be laughed at at school, so he stayed up all night to make me a new one."

"He even tried to fool me, saying that the beautiful one was made by me."

"I was just clumsy, not brain-damaged."

Zhou Ruo and Yan Huai'an couldn't help but smile knowingly upon hearing this.

Even Shang Chen, standing to the side, took a small sip of tea, a hint of a smile appearing in his eyes.

Without any interruptions, the meal went smoothly, and was both warm and comfortable.

Before leaving, Zhou Ruo handed Wenxi a gift box, saying, "Last time your dad and I went to a party, we saw a set of jewelry that would suit you perfectly, so I took a picture of it."

“Your mother-in-law was there too, and she even took two sets of photos. She said she was going to give you one set as a surprise, but I won’t tell you what it is yet, so you won’t miss out on the surprise.”

She held Wenxi's hand and whispered, "Xixi, you can't refuse."

When Ning Jin came to see Wen Xi last time, she mentioned that Shang's mother had arranged for her to purchase jewelry.

Wenxi had already accepted the gloves and scarf, and didn't pretentiously refuse the gift box.

She accepted the gift box: "Thank you, Mom."

Zhou Ruo's smile widened. "By the way, I also wove your two names on that scarf, so we won't get confused later."

Shang Chen carried the items in his hands. "I'll be careful."

Wenxi suddenly took the initiative to say, "Shang Chen and I are planning to go look at wedding rings next week. I'll show you the pictures then and ask for your opinions."

Zhou Ruo felt flattered and overwhelmed.

She didn't expect Wenxi to ask for her opinion.

Zhou Ruo's eyes stung with tears: "Okay..."

She couldn't help but explain, "Ah Xu is just stubborn, and he can't accept it right away, but he's not a bad person at heart... Your father and I will teach him a lesson."

Wenxi simply said, "Everyone has their own destiny; there's no need to force him to accept it."

Zhou Ruo wanted to say a lot, but in the end she swallowed it all.

"Xixi, can Mommy hug you?"

Wen Xi stared at Zhou Ruo quietly for a long time before saying, "I'm sorry, I'm not used to it."

Zhou Ruo was a little disappointed, but quickly cheered up: "It's okay, we have plenty of time in the future."

She lost her daughter more than 20 years ago, but she still has a lot more time to spend with her in the future.

After getting on the bus, Wenxi leaned against the window.

A faint light peeked from the horizon, hovering over her face like a layer of cold mist.

As the scenery outside the car receded, Wenxi unconsciously thought of the time when Zhou Ruo tried to hug her but she refused.

She really isn't used to hugging.

The only time I remember hugging someone was when Ning Jin and Wen Haichuan were going through a divorce, and Ning Jin jumped off a building with her in his arms.

She was six years old then.

The floor-to-ceiling windows on the 37th floor let in a howling wind, and the bottomless abyss was visible.

She hugged Ning Jin and cried, "Mommy, I don't want to die, I want my brother..."

Ning Jin held her tightly in his arms, as if two ropes were binding her.

"Then go and beg your father! Beg your father to come home!"

"Your father doesn't want us anymore, what's the point of us living?!"

After that period, she often dreamed that Ning Jin was holding her.

Wenxi rubbed her temples, trying to stop herself from recalling those unpleasant experiences.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a bag next to the seat containing the gloves and scarf that Zhou Ruo had knitted for her.

Wenxi took out the scarf, turned it over, and saw two words written on it: "Xixi".

There's also a smiling bunny crocheted with black thread.

It's childish, yet it has a touch of cuteness and warmth.

She stared at him for a long time before Shang Chen suddenly spoke up: "Why did you agree to have dinner at the Yan family's house?"

He thought that after the previous two experiences, Wenxi would no longer go to the Yan family for meals.

Wenxi: "It's not like we're going to never see each other again, there's no need to make things too tense."

It's better to have someone who wants to be good to her than someone who wants to be bad to her.

Seeing Shang Chen frowning, Wen Xi added a few more words of explanation: "I can understand their actions; at least they genuinely care about the child."

Wenxi has completely cut off contact with her adoptive parents in the Wen family. If she were to sever ties with her biological parents as well, she would truly become a lonely person.

She didn't want to narrow her own path.

The Yan family had already made their choice and given her a way out, so she simply went along with it.

Shang Shen understood her thoughts and didn't ask any further questions.

After returning home, Wenxi took a shower first.

She was so tired today that she fell asleep on the bed right after drying her hair.

When Shang Chen came out of the study, he saw that she was asleep, with her arm still exposed.

He was silent for a moment, then took Wenxi's hand and tucked it into the blanket.

Just as he was about to reach out, Wenxi opened her eyes. "What are you doing?"

Shang Chen said without changing his expression, "It's cold, and it's easy to get sick if your hands are exposed."

Wenxi obediently responded.

She was getting sleepy, and her voice was a little slurred, "Why didn't you ever mention to me that your family makes dumplings for holidays?"

"I forgot."

lie!

Shang Chen is not a forgetful person.

However, Wenxi could guess the reason: the two of them were not familiar with each other yet, and Shang Chen felt there was no need to mention these things to her.

Wenxi came up tired and didn't bother to ask any further questions.

Unexpectedly, Shang Chen asked first, "What was the meaning behind that sunset photo from last time?"

Wenxi felt that Shang Chen was talking a lot tonight.

She was very sleepy and didn't want to answer, so she simply turned around, covered her face with the blanket, and avoided Shang Chen's gaze.

Shang Chen watched her actions and fell silent.

Is Wenxi looking down on him?

The next morning, Assistant Wu glanced at the rearview mirror.

Based on my years of experience following Shang Chen, I could tell at a glance that President Shang was in a bad mood today.

After reporting today's schedule to Shang Chen, Assistant Wu subconsciously asked, "Mr. Shang, is there a problem?"

Shang Chen's reply was concise: "No problem."

After a while, he added, "Schedule a meal for me in the next couple of days; I have an appointment."

Assistant Wu: "Yes."

Wenxi disliked him last night and refused to tell him about the photos.

After reflecting on his actions, Shang Chen decided to invite Wen Xi to another meal so they could have a proper chat.

Between husband and wife, at the very least, they should be honest with each other.

If he upsets her, she can talk about it instead of ignoring him.

If she won't be honest, then he'll have to take the initiative.
