Chapter 16 Shang Chen: "It suits me quite well."

Chapter 16 Shang Chen: "It suits me quite well."

Shang Chen fed Wen Xi some warm water.

Wenxi leaned against him, her body slightly damp and a little tired.

Her mind was half-clear and half-muddled when she suddenly asked, "Is the size right?"

An eerie silence fell over the surroundings.

After an unknown amount of time, Shang Chen finally spoke: "Unsure."

Wenxi: "?"

"You'll know once you try again."

In the darkness, Shang Chen's tone was serious and solemn, as if the data from the first experiment was inaccurate and he was preparing to redo it.

True to his word, he sat up again and took the last one out of the box in the drawer.

Wenxi was a little curious.

In the dark, how did Shang Chen distinguish which model was in the box?

Aren't you afraid of taking the wrong one?

When they reached the summit, Shang Chen held Wen Xi's hand tightly.

Their fingers intertwined, and he touched the wedding ring on Wenxi's hand; it was slightly cool to the touch.

It is a testament to their marriage.

Shang Chen suddenly realized that he should have put on his wedding ring sooner.

After the final battle, Wenxi was so exhausted that she could fall asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.

A faint, hoarse voice could be heard: "It suits you well."

I don't know what he meant by that.

The next day, Wenxi woke up half an hour later than usual.

She, who is used to going for a morning run, decided to take a day off today.

Neither she nor Shang Chen were experienced people.

Last night, I tried to figure it out on my first time. It wasn't as uncomfortable as I expected, but it wasn't as pleasant either.

The last two times were comfortable, but I was also exhausted.

Before going to wash up, Wenxi suddenly went around to Shang Chen's bedside and opened the second drawer to take a look.

Looking at the drawer piled high with boxes, I fell silent.

The larger sizes are neatly arranged in front, with the medium sizes tucked inside.

No wonder Shang Chen was able to find the right size even in the dark.

Just as Wenxi was about to close the drawer, Shang Chen pushed the door open and came in.

She turned her head, and their eyes met.

Wenxi froze for a moment, but quickly regained her composure and closed the drawer without changing her expression.

"I'm looking for something."

Wenxi regretted it as soon as she said it; she should have kept quiet.

This perfectly describes her as trying to cover up her mistake.

"Hmm." Shang Chen: "What are you looking for? Do you need my help?"

"Need not."

Are you feeling unwell?

He didn't know his limits last night, and only realized he had overdone it when he saw the man fall asleep from exhaustion.

Wenxi: "It's alright."

Shang Chen asked in a different way, "Want to go for a morning run?"

Wenxi: "..."

Seeing Wenxi remain silent, Shang Chen knew she wasn't all that great.

"I'll have the housekeeper bring breakfast upstairs. You should get some rest."

Wenxi didn't force herself to stay awake; she was indeed feeling a little unwell.

However, she won't be able to rest for long; she has a court hearing in the morning and needs to be there on time.

Wenxi wasn't one to mince words. She said earnestly, "I think we're still young and have plenty of time ahead of us. It's not appropriate for us to be too indulgent."

Shang said in a deep voice, "I will restrain myself."

Wenxi breathed a sigh of relief: "I don't think you're the type to indulge in lust."

As for last night... both of them were novices, so it's normal that they didn't quite get the hang of things.

Shang Chen's expression was indifferent, as if he agreed with Wen Xi's words, or as if he was indifferent.

After Wenxi finished breakfast and went downstairs, Shang Chen had already gone to the company.

As Wenxi drove away, she saw a tricycle parked in the garden, and the gardener was carrying flower pots down.

When she saw the tricycle, she suddenly remembered that a colleague had recently taken on a new case with so many case files that they couldn't all fit in the trunk of the tricycle.

Perhaps she could suggest he take a tricycle to the next court hearing?

Since it was still early after the court hearing, Wenxi went back to the law firm first and met with the two clients.

After they finished talking around midnight, Bai Wei came in carrying materials, crying, "Wen Lu, help..."

Wenxi took a sip of water. "Ask us any questions you have."

Bai Wei's eyes sparkled when she looked at her.

By the time Bai Wei's question was answered, it was already 12:30.

Wenxi glanced at the time. "Do you have plans for lunch?"

"No."

"Just closed a deal, my treat. What do you want to eat?"

Bai Wei excitedly shouted "Yay!"

Although she wasn't short of money, her internship salary was low, so she was naturally happy when her mentor treated her to a meal.

Wenxi added, "Come with me to Chang'an Group this afternoon; there's a case we need to discuss."

"Okay!"

The two arrived at a nearby Thai restaurant, where Bai Wei enthusiastically introduced, "This is a newly opened internet-famous restaurant. Lu Zhi came to check it out when it opened and said the food was very good."

Wenxi looked around and said, "The environment is not bad."

"Of course!" Bai Wei said happily, "I know you're picky, Wen Lu, how could you dare to choose a shop randomly?"

Wenxi loves to eat local delicacies from all over the country. Bai Wei followed Wenxi for half a year and ate countless delicious meals, so she also learned about Wenxi's hobbies.

"Once you pass the assessment next year, you'll be licensed to practice. What are your plans?"

Bai Wei: "...Can I still follow you?"

"You're practicing independently now, why are you still following me?"

Bai Wei looked distressed. "Practicing independently... I'm not so sure about it."

"That's how we all got through it," Wenxi said. "If you encounter anything you don't understand, just ask me anytime."

Bai Wei's eyes sparkled with emotion. "Wen Lu, you're such a kind person!"

Wenxi has been practicing law for five years, and her mentor, Director Huang, is still sending her cases.

Influenced by her mentor, she also took great care of the interns she trained.

Whenever Bai Wei had a moment to spare, she couldn't help but gossip, "By the way, Wen Lu, I heard that Yan Zhao and Lu Jinghuai have gotten back together, did you know?"

Wenxi: "...I don't know."

She wasn't that free; she spent all her time watching Lu Jinghuai and Yan Zhao argue and make up.

"Lu Zhi said that the two of them have moved out of that villa and into his brother's private residence outside." Bai Wei dropped another exclusive piece of news: "However, Yan Zhao doesn't seem to be very satisfied and is preparing to buy another villa as their wedding home."

Seeing that Wenxi didn't react, Bai Wei reminded her, "Yan Zhao was wronged about the wedding room, so she'll definitely get her revenge. There are only a few truly luxurious mansions in the capital..."

Wenxi wasn't stupid; she understood the implication in Bai Wei's words: "Which one does she want to buy?"

"According to Lu Zhi, Yan Zhao seems to have her eye on the houses near Lishan Mansion."

Wen Xi was blunt: "Has she lost her mind?"

Lishan Mansion is the No. 3 Mansion villa area where Wenxi currently lives.

Ten villas were developed in the entire Lishan area, named from one to ten.

Being able to buy a house in Lishan Mansion is not only a sign of wealth and power, but also a symbol of status.

Of course, that's not the point.

The key point is that if Yan Zhao buys an apartment in Lishan Mansion, she can live with Wen Xi and her husband.

We'll be seeing each other all the time from now on, and I don't know how awkward it will be.

Bai Wei nodded seriously, "I also think she's crazy."

“I was jealous of you, Wen Lu, a while ago and even argued with Brother Lu. If you live together, the couple will probably argue every day.”

As soon as all the dishes were served, Bai Wei picked up her knife and fork, wanting to try the sizzling pork neck.

Just as she made her move, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure appearing at the door.

Bai Wei's smile froze slightly, and she subconsciously looked at Wen Xi.
