Chapter 15 "Your nickname is Xixi?"
When Zhou Ruo first heard that Ning Jin had privately contacted Wen Xi and told her not to visit the Wen family and to avoid Yan Zhao, she was shocked.
When Zhou Ruo learned that Ning Jin went directly to Mansion No. 3 to cause trouble for Wen Xi because Yan Zhao was unhappy about meeting Wen Xi, her surprise turned into anger.
Yan Zhao and Lu Jinghuai are having a conflict, so why should Wen Xi be forced to avoid Yan Zhao?!
Because Yan Zhao is unhappy, Wen Xi can't even go to the Wen family or the Yan family anymore?!
Moreover, Wenxi returned to the Yan family because it was her biological mother who made her come back. On what grounds does Ning Jin question her?
Zhou Ruo couldn't understand why Ning Jin would do this.
Even if Wenxi isn't Ning Jin's biological daughter, she's still a child she's raised for over twenty years. How can she not feel any pity for her?
After her anger subsided, Zhou Ruo realized that Wen Xi's life in the Wen family was not easy.
The thought of this possibility made Zhou Ruo's heart ache.
The adoptive mother favors Yan Zhao, and the biological mother is also undecided between the two children... How painful must it be for Wen Xi?
She suddenly understood Wenxi's indifference.
Wenxi: "I can understand that she feels sorry for Yan Zhao."
Zhou Ruo felt as if her heart had been stabbed.
Mom feels sorry for you too!
Zhou Ruo wanted to say a lot, but in the end she didn't dare to say anything. She only said softly, "If Ning Jin contacts you privately again, tell your mother and she will handle it."
Before Wenxi could speak, Zhou Ruo had already stated, "She feels sorry for Yan Zhao, and I also feel sorry for my own daughter."
"Xixi, give your mom and dad a chance to be good to you, okay?"
Wenxi remained silent for a long time.
Just when Zhou Ruo thought she wouldn't say anything, Wen Xi suddenly responded softly, "Mm."
After hanging up the phone, Wenxi went to the gym to exercise.
She likes to exercise when she is stressed or in a bad mood.
After exercising for an hour, Wenxi was covered in sweat and her mind was completely blank.
By the time she finished showering, it was almost eleven o'clock.
Wenxi glanced at the time and was about to go to bed when she suddenly received a message from Shang Chen.
Are you asleep?
Wenxi: "No, I was just about to go to sleep."
"I'll be home in five minutes."
The spacious bedroom fell silent as Wenxi looked at Shang Chen's message.
Strangely enough, Wenxi understood what he meant.
She was silent for a moment before replying with two words: "Waiting for you."
After replying with those two words, her heart suddenly started beating faster, as if it were pounding like a drum.
Wenxi put down her phone, picked up a book of criminal law cases from the bookshelf, and tried to calm herself down.
Steady, rhythmic footsteps sounded at the door.
Shang Chen pushed open the door and entered, dressed in a black suit, exuding an air of nobility and composure, his deep eyes seemingly stained with ink.
Seeing Wenxi sitting cross-legged on the sofa reading a book, Shang Chen slowly examined the buttons on her suit.
"I'm going to take a shower first."
Wenxi put down her book, her black hair flowing freely, her skin snow-white, and her eyes surprisingly bright yet remarkably calm.
Wenxi suddenly asked, "When are you free?"
"What's up?"
"My mom just called me," Wenxi said. "I'd like to treat you to a meal as a way of thanking you."
Without Shang Chen, Wen Xi would never have told Zhou Ruo about Ning Jin, nor would she have taken that step.
Wenxi paused for a moment, then added, "It can also be considered a date."
She and Shang Chen have been married for more than half a month, but they don't spend much time together, not even as much as they do with regular friends.
I'm free Friday night.
"Then Friday night."
Shang Chen draped his suit jacket over the sofa and went into the bathroom.
Wenxi continued reading with her head down.
Half an hour passed without us realizing it.
When Shang Chen came out of the bathroom, Wen Xi belatedly realized that she had something to do that night and put down the book she was reading.
Shang Chen poured a cup of hot water and placed it on the table. "Is the book that good?"
He had just walked up behind Wenxi without her noticing, as she was completely focused on the book in her hands.
Wenxi: "I saw an interesting case and I'm a bit fascinated by it."
Shang Chen asked considerately, "Do you want to continue watching?"
Wenxi lifted her eyelids and glanced at him. "I'm not that clueless about romance."
The two were very tacit, not revealing the ambiguous atmosphere, but both knew what was about to happen that night.
Wenxi is not a pretentious person; she won't be shy or put on airs when things come to a head.
Shang Chen had already taken a bath and was waiting for her to finish reading the book, so there was no need to do anything tonight.
Wenxi put down her book and suddenly said, "Would you like some red wine?"
Shang Chen: "...I'll listen to you."
Shang Chen knew that he was rigid and dull and lacked romantic flair, so he tried his best to accommodate Wen Xi.
Wenxi got off the sofa and walked towards the wine cabinet.
Shang Chen then noticed that Wen Xi's nightgown was not long, outlining her slender waist and her long, straight, and fair legs.
Wenxi took a bottle of red wine from the wine cabinet, poured two glasses, handed one to Shang Chen, and took a sip of the other herself.
She leaned against the wine cabinet, her posture languid, and raised her glass to lightly clink with Shang Chen's. "This wine tastes good."
Wenxi at night is cool and bright, its eyes and brows flushed with the effects of alcohol, exuding a carefree charm.
Shang Chen didn't say anything, picked up the wine, tilted his head back and took a small sip.
Wenxi's gaze fell on his bobbing Adam's apple, and suddenly she felt something.
Shang Chen put down his wine glass, his dark, inky gaze falling on Wen Xi.
Their eyes met, and silence spoke volumes.
Shang Chen put his arm around Wen Xi's waist and leaned down to kiss her.
Wenxi casually placed the wine glass on the shelf and hooked her slender arm around Shang Chen's neck.
Their lips touched, warm and soft like jade.
Before Wenxi could react, her lips were pried open and a mouthful of red wine was poured onto her.
Her calm eyes slightly opened, a hint of surprise flashing across them, and she almost choked.
Wenxi never expected that the rigid and reserved Shang Chen would pull this stunt.
The rich aroma of red wine and the deep, clear scent of the man linger in one's mind.
Shang Chen's large hands gripped her slender waist, easily lifting her up and gently setting her down.
The silk nightgown slipped down.
Wenxi's skin glowed with a shimmering white in the night.
One kiss after another landed, and Wenxi trembled slightly: "Turn off the lights."
She wasn't as indifferent as she seemed.
Shang Chen leaned over Wen Xi, his shoulders and back broad, his muscles flowing smoothly, with glimpses of sweat and protruding veins.
He reached into the bedside drawer, opened it, and pulled out a box.
Wenxi was very familiar with this brand.
She had been curious about where Shang Chen had put that box of things during the day, and she never expected to see it at night.
The lights dimmed, and Shang Chen's aura enveloped her.
Wenxi was a little tense.
Shang spoke in a deep voice, trying to distract her: "Wenxi."
"Um?"
"Your nickname is Xixi?"
"Um."
Shang Chen's voice was deep, with a hint of suppressed hoarseness, and was extremely cool and serious.
"It sounds beautiful."
Wenxi looked a little bewildered, then, after regaining her composure, said, "Thank you."
Shang Chen: "..."
It was almost one o'clock when it was over.
