Chapter 474: There is a way to hoe the crops

Gu Liyan put the medicine she found into her bag and was about to leave with Wang Qi when the downstairs door was pushed open with a creaking sound. Gu Liyan and Wang Qi exchanged a glance and quickly hid under the pharmacy cabinet, turning off the light as they did so.

"These snake people in N Milk Land are really troublesome. Luckily, that smoke bomb came in time, otherwise we would all be dead here today!" a rough voice said.

"Ultimately, it's because the snake-man wasn't in command; otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to fight so smoothly," a bespectacled man analyzed.

“That’s right, we took down eight of the ten snake-men, but there should still be two left. I think they’re still in this town, so it’s better to be careful,” the middle-aged man walking in front said.

Then, looking around, he turned back to the group and whispered, "Everyone be careful, there seems to be someone here. The lights in the corridor have been on all the way here."

Everyone nodded in agreement, and the burly man gripped his gun even tighter.

Gu Liyan heard their footsteps approaching the second floor and frowned slightly. Before she could ascertain their intentions, Gu Liyan still did not want to have any contact with them.

Just as the footsteps were getting closer, Wang Qi, who was standing to the side, slipped and hit her head on the cabinet, letting out a cry of "Ouch!" and quickly covering her mouth.

The people passing by the pharmacy stopped in their tracks upon hearing the sounds coming from inside, and immediately got into position, pointing their guns at the doorway.

The burly man kicked the door open, startling Wang Qi into a scream. Gu Liyan, standing beside him, trembled in fright. Before he could react, the burly man's hand jerked, and the gun spat fire.

"Ahhh..." Wang Qi screamed in terror, covering her head.

Gu Liyan calmly covered her ears, just then she heard the sound of wind breaking and a bullet whizzing past her ear, causing her to experience a ringing in her ears.

"Wait, it's a woman!" the middle-aged man in the lead said.

The burly man hurriedly put away his gun. "No, no one was hurt, right?"

Wang Qi was so frightened that she collapsed to the ground, but she was unharmed despite the shock.

The bespectacled man next to him turned on the light, saw Wang Qi lying on the ground, breathed a sigh of relief, and said, "He's alright."

"Luckily, I'm not a good shot. If it were Wang Wen, I'd be riddled with bullets!" Li Mang chuckled.

Wang Wen, who wears glasses, said with a wry smile, "You're still joking at a time like this? Don't you even look at what kind of girl she is?"

Li Mang scratched his head, picked up his gun, and walked towards Wang Qi. Just as he got close to Wang Qi, a dark figure darted out from behind the cabinet. Li Mang only felt a blur before his eyes, and the gun in his hand was snatched away. Gu Liyan pointed at Li Mang's head and used Li Mang's body to block his view.

Wang Wen and the others then realized what was happening and raised their guns, aiming them at Gu Liyan, but they couldn't see Gu Liyan; they were only pointing at Li Mang's back.

Li Mang stared at the dark muzzle of the gun, oblivious to Gu Liyan's appearance. His face was deathly pale as he raised his hands and stammered, "Brother, brother, please, please don't do it. Let's talk this out."

Gu Liyan frowned and said coldly, "Speak properly? Then I'd like to know why you opened fire on us right away?"

Li Mang swallowed hard, trying to look away, but he was so frightened that he broke out in a cold sweat and dared not move an inch.

Wang Qi got up from the ground, pointed at the crowd angrily, and said, "You bunch of bad guys! I even used smoke bombs to cover for you! You ingrates!"

Upon hearing Wang Qi's words, the leading man waved to the men around him, signaling them to put down their guns. After they obeyed, the man threw down his gun and stepped forward, saying, "Brother, please be merciful. We are from Chuhefang. We were blind to your greatness just now, please don't take offense."

Gu Liyan frowned. He had never heard of any Chuhefang.

Wang Qi, who was standing to the side, turned around and looked at them in surprise. "You're from Chuhefang? The organization that eradicates the snake people?"

“That’s right, I am Zhang Wei, the person in charge of Chang’an Town,” the middle-aged man said.

Wang Qi's eyes darted around, and she tugged at Gu Liyan's hand. "Um... they're good people. I wasn't hurt, so please let him go."

Gu Liyan glared at Wang Qi. Had she misunderstood something?

Gu Liyan was just angry that a group of people shot at him for no reason, not that he wanted to speak up for Wang Qi!

However, after glancing at Li Mang and then at Zhang Wei and the others, and seeing that there was no hostility in their eyes, he slowly lowered his gun.

Li Mang was so frightened that he collapsed to the ground. This was the first time he had come so close to death. Although there had been many dangers along the way, seeing Gu Liyan was like seeing the Grim Reaper, leaving him with no power to resist.

Wang Wen stepped forward and helped Li Mang up, looking at Gu Liyan with a resentful expression. When he saw Gu Liyan's face, he was stunned. Gu Liyan had moved so quickly that he hadn't caught a glimpse of him, and now that he saw him, he was surprised to find him so young and handsome.

Everyone was stunned by Gu Liyan's appearance, and for a moment the scene was deathly silent.

Seeing this, Zhang Wei stepped forward and asked, "May I ask this hero's name?"

“Mo Li is no hero, just a scholar,” Gu Liyan said.

"Judging from Brother Mo's skills, he seems to be no ordinary person. He must be part of an organization, right?" Zhang Wei asked.

Gu Liyan glanced at Zhang Wei and said, "You don't need to test me. I don't have any organization. I just graduated from university."

Zhang Wei's face lit up with joy. "That's great! Brother Mo, would you like to come to my Chuhefang?"

Gu Liyan frowned. "Not interested."

Gu Liyan's clean and decisive refusal surprised everyone.
