Zhang Wei coughed lightly at Li Mang, who understood and said, "Um, Brother Mo, it was my fault just now, please don't mind. We are a legitimate organization, we meant no harm..."
Before Li Mang could finish speaking, Gu Liyan frowned, looked out the window, and shouted, "Who?!"
"Hiss hiss hiss~" The sound of snake-men came from outside the window, and the window shattered, allowing two snake-men to crawl in from the outside.
Gu Liyan pulled Wang Qi back a few steps, looking warily at the two snake-men, and realized that they were the same two people she had knocked unconscious not long ago.
"Captain, these despicable humans killed all of us brothers while we were being ambushed!" a snake-man exclaimed.
“It’s alright, since they’re all here, we’ll wipe them out!” another snake-man said.
Gu Liyan looked at them speechlessly. With a ten-against-two lineup, how dare they be so arrogant as to say "wipe them all out"!
The crowd raised their guns and aimed them at them, but even so, the two snake-men remained arrogant.
"Sisi... Foolish humans, don't you know that captains like us can ignore your guns and cannons?" The snake-man captain looked at Gu Liyan and the others with a mocking expression.
Zhang Wei naturally knew this, but for a safe retreat, they had to fight. He immediately ordered, "Fire!"
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone opened fire, and a chaotic hail of bullets erupted. Zhang Wei shouted, "Retreat!"
Gu Liyan looked at them with a puzzled expression. Why would they retreat now that they had the numerical advantage?
Before Gu Liyan could ask any questions, the bullets struck the snake-man as if they were hitting an impenetrable wall, having no effect whatsoever.
Gu Liyan's eyes widened, and he thought to himself, "Could it be that this snake-man's body has evolved to the point where it can ignore bullets?"
Seeing that Gu Liyan was still in a daze, Wang Qi pulled Gu Liyan and said, "Let's go!"
Gu Liyan was dragged away by Wang Qi. As soon as they left the two snake-men, they were attacked. Their tongues were like sharp awls, piercing directly into a man's chest and breaking through the wall. The man didn't even have time to scream before he died instantly, with blood splattering all over the ground.
"Gu Zi!" Li Mang, who was behind him, saw Gu Zi die and, with his eyes red with rage, raised his gun and roared, "Damn snake people, I'll fight you to the death!"
Li Mang kept firing, but it didn't cause any damage to the snake-man. The snake-man got impatient, whipped its tail and tripped Li Mang to the ground, then shot its sharp tongue at him.
Seeing this from a distance, Zhang Wei hurriedly called out, "Li Mang! Be careful!"
Li Mang watched as the long, awl-like tongue pierced towards him, and closed his eyes in despair. Just when he thought he was about to die, he suddenly heard the snake-man's miserable screams.
When he opened his eyes, he saw that half of the snake-man's tongue had been cut off and was still wriggling on the ground. The snake-man's mouth was full of blood, and he was looking at the person in front of Li Mang with resentment in his eyes.
Before anyone knew it, Gu Liyan appeared in front of Li Mang, holding a scalpel, and stared at the snake-man with a cold expression.
The other snake-man, seeing his companion injured, flicked his tongue and looked at Gu Liyan warily.
Gu Liyan stepped forward, brandishing a scalpel, and coldly said, "It seems you are not invulnerable after all. Your greatest weapon is your weakness!"
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at Gu Liyan. The snake-man captain narrowed his eyes, memorizing Gu Liyan's face, and coldly said to his injured comrade, "Retreat!"
The two jumped out of the window and escaped.
Seeing them run away, everyone cheered and jumped up. It was the first time they had ever seen snake people scared away by them!
Wang Qi's eyes sparkled as she looked at Gu Liyan and excitedly hugged him, saying, "You're so amazing!"
Gu Liyan quickly moved the scalpel away from her. "Be careful, their blood is poisonous!"
Wang Qi hurriedly let go of Gu Liyan and stepped back a long distance, pointing at his scalpel and saying, "Then why don't you throw it away right now!"
Zhang Wei laughed and stepped between Gu Liyan and Wang Qi, saying, "Haha, Brother Mo, you're just kidding, girl! Only third-tier snakes are poisonous; these second-tier ones are just thicker-skinned."
Wang Qi opened her mouth, but when she saw Gu Liyan adjusting his clothes, she realized that Gu Liyan didn't want her to touch him!
She glared at Gu Liyan with annoyance, "What a blockhead!"
Gu Liyan glanced at her indifferently.
Li Mang got up from the ground and came to Gu Liyan. "Brother Mo, I won't say anything more. From now on, my life is yours, and I'll be at your beck and call!"
Gu Liyan glanced at Li Mang and said calmly, "Life is precious. You should save your life to protect your home."
Hearing Gu Liyan's words, everyone's impression of him improved considerably.
Zhang Wei smiled and excitedly said to Gu Liyan, "Brother Mo, you're so skilled, why not consider joining my Chuhefang and serving the Dragon Kingdom?"
Gu Liyan looked out the window at the sky turning white, shook his head and said, "I don't plan to join any organization for the time being. I have to hurry back to the village. There are a few patients waiting for their medicine."
Zhang Wei wanted to persuade Gu Liyan, but before he could speak, Wang Wen stepped forward and said, "The village is quite a distance from here, and the journey is very dangerous. Why don't we have Li Mang escort Brother Mo? Firstly, to repay the life-saving grace we just received, and secondly, to express our apologies for what happened before."
Upon hearing Wang Wen's words, Zhang Wei's face lit up with joy, and he hurriedly said, "Yes, yes, otherwise we really wouldn't know how to repay you for saving us!"
Gu Liyan frowned. How could he not know what they meant? They wanted to follow him, find out his whereabouts, and then try to persuade him to join that "Chuhefang" organization.
"Great! I want to go with Brother Mo too! I've never been to a village before!" Before Gu Liyan could speak, Wang Qi was already clapping her hands excitedly.
