Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"What? Stomach cancer?"

Wu Tong took the medical record with trembling hands. The black and white words on it were terrifyingly clear, like a sharp and tough blade, ruthlessly cutting open his body. Unexpectedly, God still refused to let him go and insisted on killing him.

"You had this disease before, right? Why didn't you get treatment in time? What a pity..."

Wu Tong put the medical record away in his pocket. The doctor said that he only had one year to live. Human life is so ridiculous that it can be destroyed at will, but it doesn't matter to Wu Tong anymore.

“Ahhhhhh!”

A shrill scream brought him back to his senses. He tilted his head to look at the source of the sound. At the other end of the hall, people were gathered together. The dark red blood slowly flowing on the ground cut through the white tiles, which was very dazzling. The strong smell of blood immediately filled the air.

"Murder! Aa ...

Wu Tong squeezed into the center of the crowd with an expressionless face. There were only two people in the center. One of them was lying on the ground with his hands covering his stomach, twitching in pain, his hands covered in blood. The other was holding a knife and walking towards the person lying on the ground step by step.

Just as the man raised his hand to stab, his hand was grabbed and tossed away. Wu Tong pulled the man away and kicked him again, knocking him to the ground. The knife in his hand fell off and fell to the side, making a crisp metallic sound on the ceramic floor.

"Call the doctor and bring the man in."

Wu Tong said a few words to the person next to him, then walked slowly towards the perpetrator with his hands in his pockets.

"No...I can't die alone...I can't..."

Wu Tong grabbed the man's hair and yanked it upwards, forcing him to look up and meet his eyes. Wu Tong sneered at him, "I didn't even mean to drag anyone to their death. How dare you? Huh?"

"The police are coming! The police are coming!"

Upon hearing this, Wu Tong let go of her hand and stood up to leave.

"Wait, this Mr....?"

A policeman trotted over and stopped him. Wu Tong gave him a gentle smile: "What's wrong, officer?"

The police officer was stunned by the handsomeness of the boy in front of him. "Ah... We are from the Nanwan City Public Security Bureau. A witness identified you as the one who rescued the victim. We would like you to take a statement."

"good."

"Is this a medical dispute?... The injured person isn't a doctor??? Then who is he? Bring him here for me to see!"

Xiao Yuncheng impatiently fanned himself with the file in his hand. Twenty minutes ago, Xiao Yuncheng had come to this hospital to visit his injured partner, who had been injured during a mission. They were chatting happily when a phone call nearly made him want to jump out of his seat. "What? The crime scene is at the Second Hospital?!"

So he became the police officer who arrived at the crime scene the fastest in this case, but there were so many people gathered there that he couldn't handle it alone, so he had to wait for a large team to come and investigate together.

"Let the doctors here bandage him and take him to trial first. Where is the person involved in the case? I want to see him."

Wu Tong was sitting on a bench, lost in thought, when he was suddenly enveloped by a large shadow. He looked up and saw Xiao Yuncheng standing before him, sizing him up with a piercing gaze that threatened to dissect him.

The boy in front of me was quite handsome. He sat back in his chair, his hands lazily resting on the armrests, his fingers crossed. His peach blossom eyes were particularly eye-catching. Although he looked indifferent, his cold appearance stood out in the crowd. He was extremely beautiful.

"Officer, what's the matter?" Wu Tong was the first to break the silence.

Xiao Yuncheng didn't answer him immediately. He just sat down beside him and handed the file to Wu Tong, raising his chin to signal him to look. Wu Tong took the file with confusion, flipping through it and looking at it absentmindedly for a few seconds. After a long while, Xiao Yuncheng finally said the first sentence to Wu Tong: "What's your name?"

"Wu Tong."

Xiao Yuncheng read it again in a low voice, raised the corner of his lips and extended his hand towards him: "Hello, I am Xiao Yuncheng."

Although he didn't know what Xiao Yuncheng was up to, Wu Tong still smiled faintly and shook his hand.

"You know you're the only one who provided assistance to the injured. Although we really don't want to waste your time, we still have to trouble you to come back to the police station with us. Please cooperate."

Wu Tong nodded and, guided by another police officer, got into the police car. A moment later, Xiao Yuncheng arrived with the perpetrator and shoved him into the back seat. Xiao Yuncheng dove into the driver's seat, met Wu Tong's puzzled gaze, and said with an apologetic smile, "Sorry, I'll be the escort."

The people in the car were silent on the road. Wu Tong looked out the window. The weather was not very good today. The dark clouds pressed down on the entire city, making it hard to breathe. However, they refused to rain and just held it back, as if they were hiding something.

Xiao Yuncheng looked at Wu Tong sideways for several times, and finally asked, "Where is Mr. Wu from?"

Wu Tong turned around upon hearing this, met his undisguised scrutiny, and said calmly, "I'm from Guangzhou."

"You're from Guangzhou? Why are you coming to the north?"

"Work."

Even a fool could hear the alienation in Wu Tong's words. Xiao Yuncheng didn't say anything else, but just drove in silence. The atmosphere suddenly and strangely dropped to freezing point.

Several police cars drove into a narrow road. They were surrounded by the shade of trees, with only a few faint lights shining through. The gloomy feeling made Wu Tong feel very depressed.

At this time, the suspect suddenly began to mutter something, his eyes were empty, and his pupils were not even focused on any one place. He looked a little confused. Xiao Yuncheng tried hard to hear what he was saying, but his voice was too soft, and Xiao Yuncheng could not make out anything.

"What did you say? What home? Speak louder."

Xiao Yuncheng would occasionally watch the person in the back seat through the rearview mirror, guiding him in a steady and forceful voice. At this moment, Wu Tong suddenly turned his head and said seriously, "Who harmed your family?"

Xiao Yuncheng was stunned for a moment and looked at Wu Tong. Wu Tong didn't care about the look on him. He just asked the person in the back seat again. Only then did the person's voice become clearer: "Chen Hao... harmed my whole family!"

Xiao Yuncheng immediately sat up straight and asked sternly, "Who is Chen Hao? Is that the name of the victim? Why did he harm your entire family? What happened? Please tell me!"

His voice became louder and louder, but the other party just numbly repeated the same sentence: "Chen Hao harmed my whole family..."

Wu Tong frowned and looked away. When he heard the name, his hands clenched into fists. He seemed to be refusing to reveal any more useful information. After asking several times without success, Xiao Yuncheng gave up, and Wu Tong's bad premonition grew stronger.

Facts proved that his premonition was very accurate. A large truck suddenly drove out from a fork in the road ahead and turned around without even looking. As a result, several police cars were forced to stop and honked their horns almost as they brushed against the truck.

"Hey, how are you driving? You're changing lanes illegally, don't you understand? Get down! Police!"

Xiao Yuncheng frowned, unbuckled his seatbelt, and asked Wu Tong to get out of the car. The two walked over and saw a man in a courier's uniform bowing frantically to the police officer who was questioning him. "Sorry, sorry, we really didn't notice. We're really sorry for blocking you!"

Seeing that he apologized sincerely, the policemen didn't care about it anymore. They just reminded him about road safety and then went back to their cars and started their engines one after another.

Wu Tong didn't say anything the whole time, but Xiao Yuncheng could see that his expression was very serious.

"What's wrong, Mr. Wu? Why do you look like someone owes you two hundred and five hundred thousand?"

Xiao Yuncheng saw Wu Tong taking a deep breath. Then he was stunned by what Wu Tong said: "Someone has tampered with it."

As soon as he finished speaking, the person in the back seat suddenly began to twitch, clutching his throat tightly with both hands. His lips turned extremely pale, his face was also sickly pale, and he fell down sobbing.

"Call the medical examiner! Quick!"

The sudden emergency forced several police cars to stop again. The forensic doctor jumped out of the car and strode towards them: "What's wrong, Captain Xiao?"

"Quick, see what's going on with him!"

Xiao Yuncheng pointed at the twitching figure in the back seat and yelled at the forensic doctor. The forensic doctor immediately rushed in, pulled the man out, and unbuttoned a few buttons on his collar. He was stunned for a moment as if he had discovered something, then turned and said to the forensic doctor who came behind him, "Go get the sedative! Quick! He's having a drug addiction attack!"

Drug addiction. These two words made all the police officers present stumble. Xiao Yuncheng frowned in disbelief: "Drug addiction?"

"Yes! Typical symptoms of drug addiction!"

The forensic doctor looked back anxiously again and again, urging them to move faster. The person on the ground twitched for a while and suddenly stopped. He fell down with his eyes open and his hands pinching his throat.

“Dead, dead?...”

Xiao Yuncheng walked up quickly and put his hand under his nose. He really had stopped breathing.

"What happened? Was it really a drug addiction attack? Why did he die?"

The medical examiner reiterated that this was essentially a case of drug addiction, and the cause of death was unknown. Xiao Yuncheng cursed in anger, but then gave up. He shook his hands and approached the stretcher. Looking at the suddenly dead man, Xiao Yuncheng felt a headache, and he stared at the corpse with his eyebrows pinched.

"What are you thinking about? Have you found anything?"

Shi Qian, the captain of the technical investigation team, walked towards Xiao Yuncheng, but saw Xiao Yuncheng staring at the corpse motionlessly, wondering what he was thinking.

Xiao Yuncheng didn't look up, nor did he answer. His lips were slightly pursed, almost forming a straight line at the corners, which was his usual movement when thinking. From Shi Qian's perspective, his hair covered his eyes, and he could only see that his delicate jawline was tense, and his pursed lips made him look a little nervous.

He said softly, "He didn't look like he died from a drug addiction."
