Chapter 6
After changing into casual clothes, Xiao Yuncheng lost all his police integrity and instead had the rebellious, frivolous air of a young master squandering money. He placed his palm on the doorknob and pushed it open, stepping inside. The bartender at the front desk, without even looking up, fiddled with her phone. When the doorbell rang, she simply said a dull, "Welcome."
"Hello, can you make me a Tequila Sunrise?"
The bartender looked up at the sound and saw Xiao Yuncheng very gentlemanly pushing the bill to his hand. The receptionist looked at the man in front of him a few more times and immediately raised an overly contrived smile: "Okay, please wait a moment~"
"Is this a proper bar? Why are all the men so... pretentious?"
Xiao Yuncheng got goosebumps all over his body and muttered a few words under his breath after the receptionist left. Lin Chen, who had just returned from investigating the situation, teased him, "Brother, you're already in the bar, do you still expect anything normal here?"
“······”
Indeed, he even felt that he was not normal, haha...
The bar was bustling with activity, a crowd dancing and laughing. Xiao Yuncheng looked around but couldn't find anyone suspicious. The bartender pushed the prepared drink towards him. The color of the drink lived up to its name, a vibrant sunrise, its gradient from light to dark a delight to the eye.
He picked up the glass on the table and took a sip. The spicy taste of the cocktail filled his mouth and the pleasure rushed straight to his head.
On this ground, there is a refreshing, bright and beautiful scenery. People are busy running around for their lives and families. The sun shines on the earth, embracing everyone equally. But underground, it is a dark and damp place of sin. Countless crimes, drug trafficking, and gutter transactions are rampant here. Desire devours humanity, and human life is worthless.
"They are looking for it, but it just takes time." Wu Tong leaned back on the sofa, holding his forehead with one hand and said.
"But we don't have that much time to give them."
A human figure loomed in the darkness, almost blending in, as if born to it. The figure walked towards Wu Tong, leaning close to him and whispering in his ear, "You don't have enough time to keep them going like this."
Wu Tong laughed bitterly, and the light in his eyes gradually dimmed. He raised his hand and rubbed his brow and asked, "Where is the person?"
“Old factory.”
Xiao Yuncheng was observing when he heard his teammate's voice through his headset: "Captain Xiao, we're coming in."
Currently, there are "spies" almost everywhere in and outside this bar. If Chen Hao is still here, it will not be easy for him to escape from the police's control, unless...
"Reporting to Captain Xiao, there are no suspicious targets."
"Prepare to try the secret passage."
Xiao Yuncheng said in a low voice, raising his hand to call a waiter over.
"Do you have anything else to buy here?"
“Something else?”
The man hesitated for only a moment, and Xiao Yuncheng immediately concluded that there must be a secret passage here. His expression remained unchanged as he looked at the receptionist and repeated his question. The receptionist glanced behind him and whispered to Xiao Yuncheng, "Sir, please wait a moment. I'll find our boss for you."
Looking at the waiter's back as he left, Xiao Yuncheng's upturned mouth corners instantly drooped.
"Captain Xiao?"
"Everyone wait for my signal. I'll go down and take a look first."
Xiao Yuncheng looked at the fat, big-eared man walking towards him and stood up to greet him. Lin Chen also put down his glass and walked forward to greet him. The man had a smile on his face, but the scrutiny and suspicion in his eyes were undisguised, and Xiao Yuncheng saw it all.
"Haha, buddy, I'm the boss here. Are you guys going to buy something?"
"Yes, we heard from friends that you have good stuff here. Isn't this your first time here? Can you take a look and introduce it to me?"
Hearing this, the boss paused as he lit his cigarette and asked in confusion, "Friend? From which family?"
Xiao Yuncheng was frantically searching for "which one" in his brain. Lin Chen was about to speak beside him, but was interrupted by someone who came.
"The Chen family."
A familiar voice sounded behind him, and Xiao Yuncheng suddenly became unable to move as if he had been cast a spell. The half smile on the corner of his mouth was also frozen, and his body suddenly stiffened into plaster, and even the frequency of his eyelashes shaking became disordered.
Wu Tong walked out from behind him, his face expressionless. He picked up his phone, pointed the screen at the boss, and said calmly, "They are my friends. I brought them here to buy some goods."
The boss looked Wu Tong over for a few times, then immediately put on a flattering smile and pulled Wu Tong's arm. "Hahaha, so you're from the Chen family. No problem, no problem. Buying goods, right? You guys go sit down for a while, I'll go get the goods."
The boss led the way in front. Wu Tong looked back at Xiao Yuncheng, gently bumped him with his shoulder, and motioned him to follow.
Xiao Yuncheng's brain was in a state of shutdown the whole way, and he just followed Wu Tong instinctively. Wu Tong was a little helpless. In order to prevent the boss from noticing anything unusual, Wu Tong took Xiao Yuncheng's hand without looking back and pulled him forward. Now Xiao Yuncheng was completely confused.
"Please take a seat, I'll get it now."
The boss left the room and Wu Tong immediately let go of his hand. Lin Chen looked bewildered: "Brother Xiao, is this your informant?"
Xiao Yuncheng came back to his senses, met Wu Tong's cold eyes, and said absentmindedly, "Yes."
"Haha, so we're family. Hello, hello, I'm Lin Chen."
Lin Chen walked forward and stretched out his hand to shake hands with Wu Tong, but in his heart he was secretly looking at the boy in front of him who looked very cold. Lin Chen had never seen this person before, and he should have just arrived. However, if he was a newcomer, Xiao Yuncheng would never let him take on such a mission. Lin Chen's suspicion of Wu Tong became even greater.
Xiao Yuncheng found himself increasingly unable to guess what kind of person Wu Tong was. Why was he, a painter, so familiar with these secret procedures and methods? He acted like a battle-hardened undercover agent, with a calm temperament and ease. Even Xiao Yuncheng himself could not achieve this level.
"Captain Xiao! How are you? We're ready to take action."
Xiao Yuncheng pulled his thoughts back and replied seriously, "Send a team to the second floor in 10 minutes, the second box from the left."
As soon as he finished speaking, there was a dull and chaotic sound of footsteps coming from above his head. The sound was amplified several times. It was the boss who came down with his men.
"Come on, come on, brothers! What do you want to order?"
Xiao Yuncheng looked at the men behind the boss. They were all holding a bag in their hands, which contained what looked like the common "white flour" on the market.
Lin Chen suddenly said, "Hey buddy, has Chen gone back? Why haven't I seen him these past two days?"
Upon hearing this, the boss looked at Lin Chen and asked doubtfully, "You haven't contacted him?"
"No, can I come to your place if I contact you?"
Lin Chen waved his hand at him and said, "I don't know where this idiot has gone. I still have his order in hand!"
The boss sniffed and said, "He came last night, but he said he was looking for someone, so I didn't ask too many questions."
"Who is he going to play with now?"
Xiao Yuncheng suddenly spoke at this time. The boss seemed to be trying hard to recall something, and a few words popped out intermittently: "It seems... he... what's that called? Partner? Oh, I don't know!"
The boss suddenly frowned and looked at the three of them: "Are you going to buy it or not? You've been talking nonsense for so long."
Wu Tong stood silently behind them, his lips curled up slightly as he whispered, "Brother, we don't want the white ones. Do you have any new ones?"
Only then did the boss turn his gaze towards Wu Tong, who was standing behind them. He smiled and said, "Yes, we guarantee we have some. Don't worry, isn't it? My flour is several times better than Chen's! Try it, I guarantee you'll be satisfied."
The boss's face was full of smiles and hospitality, but Wu Tong didn't even look at the packages in his hands. Wu Tong raised his eyes nonchalantly and looked at the boss, his tone full of irresistible meaning: "We are in business. We don't want anything better than mine, but new ones. Otherwise, do you still want to act like Wang Po selling melons in front of me?"
The boss was choked by his words, looked at the three people awkwardly, and then said: "Sorry, sorry, I'll get it right away!"
The boss quickly pushed the door open and fled. Wu Tong walked forward and raised his chin towards the two henchmen behind him who had hardly spoken. "What's your name?"
The two thugs then realized that Wu Tong was talking to them. They had seen Wu Tong's powerful aura before, and even their boss treated him with respect. They thought he must be a big boss, so they didn't dare to neglect him. They responded, "My nickname is Ah Che, this mantis."
Wu Tong nodded slowly. Xiao Yuncheng noticed a unique aura about him. He wasn't a tall, imposing figure, nor did he look battle-hardened and experienced, but his words and actions gave off a sense of composure and ease, as if he knew everything and applied it perfectly. However, Lin Chen, standing by, didn't share that sentiment. All he could think about was who the hell was this guy?!
Wu Tong naturally couldn't hear the turbulent thoughts of the two men behind him. He walked over to the sofa and sat down, his long legs spread out naturally, his arms folded across his chest. He glanced at the two henchmen, pulled out a dozen red banknotes from his coat pocket, and casually slapped them on the table. The heavy bills shook the coffee table with a muffled sound. "This is for you. Bring us some drinks."
The two thugs were so happy to see such a thick stack of money that they couldn't stop smiling. They said sweet words and ran away happily with the money in their arms. Only the three of them were left in the box, staring at each other.
"······What's wrong with you?"
Because Lin Chen was right next to him, Xiao Yuncheng couldn't ask Wu Tong directly why he wanted to get involved, and Wu Tong just replied calmly: "Just helping out."
Lin Chen finally took action. He walked over to Wu Tong and sat down. He stared at Wu Tong and asked, "Friend, you know a lot."
"They are all informants. If they don't know more, wouldn't they be dead if they just hang around here?"
