Qi Huaiyu smiled slightly, "I understand. Come here, I have something to tell you."
Xin Yunzhou went out by himself, without inviting his usual cronies. Feeling unhappy, he went to a restaurant to drink alone.
I had just finished a glass of wine when I heard my sister's name amidst the chatter of the people at the table behind me.
He turned his head and saw three young men sitting at the table by the window. They looked somewhat familiar, but Xin Yunzhou couldn't recall their names. They were none of the families that were on good terms with the Xin family.
One of them spoke loudly: "I saw it with my own eyes. Brother Qi took a carriage back to the Xin residence early this morning."
Another person said, "I heard yesterday that Xin Jiuwei was throwing a tantrum at him, but he's already made up with her today?"
"Hey, can't you see through Miss Xin?" the man laughed. "She's just a brainless, easily fooled rich girl. Brother Qi, all you need to do is coax her a bit and she'll be fine."
His companion said, "Brother Qi is lucky. Xin Jiuwei is a bit willful, but she has all her heart set on him. Doesn't she come at Brother Qi's beckoning?"
"That's right. I think the Xin family will fall into Brother Qi's hands sooner or later. But then again, the Xin family is in decline now. All the young masters and ladies of the Xin family are good-for-nothings."
"You all say..." The loudest man suddenly chuckled, his voice turning lewd, "Miss Xin listens to Brother Qi so much, could it be..."
He didn't say what he was going to say next, but just chuckled meaningfully twice. His companion, upon hearing this, also smiled knowingly.
"Bang--!"
A loud bang brought their conversation to an abrupt halt. Before the loud-voiced young master could react, his collar was tightened at the back of his neck, and he was dragged off the stool.
Just as he was about to call for help, a shadow flashed before his eyes, and he was punched hard in the nose!
At the same time, outside the restaurant, a carriage slowly came to a stop.
A young servant in blue robes stopped the carriage, bowed slightly, and asked, "May I ask if Mr. Ye is inside?"
The carriage curtain was lifted, and a pageboy peeked out. "Indeed, what brings you here?"
"I am from the Xin residence. Mr. Ye, you must be tired from your long journey. Would you like to have a meal and rest here for a while?"
The pageboy on the carriage turned around and asked a question before getting off. Immediately afterward, an elderly man with a refined and scholarly demeanor slowly stepped off the carriage.
The pageboy who stopped the carriage walked ahead with a smile, leading the way, "This way, sir."
Just as Mr. Ye was about to walk up the steps into the restaurant, he heard a commotion.
Someone shouted, "Call someone quickly! Young Master Xin has hit someone again!"
Mr. Ye frowned.
