The coachman suddenly mustered a lot of strength and rushed over in a few steps, grabbing Wang Qing.
"You little hussy, you're the only one who made me look for this nonsense today. You must be the one who got me into trouble!"
Wang Qing was pulled by the hair and cried out in pain. Xin Jiuwei quickly turned around and pulled her back.
"do what!"
The servants of the Xin family quickly stepped in front of them and pushed the coachman aside.
Xie Chang narrowed his eyes dangerously, sizing up Wang Qing, then realized what was happening and pointed at Xin Jiuwei, shouting.
"Xin Jiuwei, give me back my horse!"
Xin Jiuwei blinked, her face completely innocent. "Young Master Xie, are you confused? Why should I return your horse?"
"You must be holding a grudge against me for embarrassing your sister earlier, letting my horse go and preventing me from getting down the mountain," Xie Changjing said angrily. "Brother Qi said you were stupid and clumsy, but I think you're more like a vicious person!"
Xin Jiuwei's face turned cold. "You insulted my sister right after you finished speaking, and then your horse disappeared. I've been inside the temple the whole time. Do you think I have a clone here to harm your horse? Besides, even if you don't have the horse, you still have your Xie family's carriage. Does Third Young Master Xie dislike his own carriage so much that he won't even ride in it once?"
Xie Changjing was furious: "That's just sophistry!"
Xin Jiuwei helped her sister and Wang Qing into the car, then turned to Xie Changjing and said coldly:
"Young Master Xie, instead of trying to make things difficult for us young ladies, you should think more about whether you are too stupid to believe what anyone says. You are so naive that you don't even know when something goes wrong with your own things."
She thought to herself that although she was indeed being unreasonable, she had saved Xie Changjing's life, so the two things canceled each other out and there was no need to dwell on it further.
Xie Changjing couldn't argue with her, and could only watch helplessly as the Xin family's carriage drove away.
Inside the carriage, Xin Jiuwei instructed Wang Qing: "That coachman was taught a lesson by Xie Changjing, he'll definitely suffer. Take a silver note from my room and have someone send it to him as compensation. Remember, don't ask anyone from our household."
Wang Qing nodded, "This servant has remembered."
Xin Xiyao seemed to guess something when she heard her words, but she just looked at Xin Jiuwei and didn't ask anything.
Back at the Xin family home, Xin Jiuwei took Wang Qing back to her Yutang Pavilion, but just as they reached the door, they heard another commotion.
Mianfeng, who was standing guard outside the door, was holding back his anger. As soon as he saw Xin Jiuwei, he hurriedly called out in a wronged tone, "Miss!"
Xin Jiuwei's gaze swept across the room and landed squarely on the person who had just been arguing with Mianfeng.
It turned out that Madam Feng had returned and was insisting on entering the courtyard!
Mianfeng opened his mouth, wanting to complain, but remembering the past, he couldn't say anything.
In the past, at Yutang Pavilion, Madam Feng had already climbed over all the maids and acted like a mistress.
She thought she would have to suffer in silence again, but to her surprise, the usually tolerant Miss Feng raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why were outsiders let in?"
"Oh dear, we're not outsiders, we're not outsiders!"
Feng changed her usual attitude and acted as if nothing had happened at the banquet during the day, warmly taking Xin Jiuwei's hand.
"Wei girl, you're joking. How could we be outsiders? Right?"
In a short time, she had already found another set of clothes to change into. Although it was not as luxurious as her original outfit, it was not made of the kind of material that servants would wear.
Xin Jiuwei pulled her hand away without hesitation and said, "Only members of the Xin family and servants are allowed to enter the inner courtyard. Since you say you are no longer a servant, then hurry up and get out."
"You silly girl, you're throwing a tantrum again." Madam Feng said kindly. "I know you're upset because Huaiyu brought Xue Yingxue home today."
"Don't worry, that Xue girl is just an orphan. How can she compare to you? As long as I'm here, I will never let her into the house!"
Xin Jiuwei didn't say anything, but she felt that Feng's skin was really thick.
Madam Feng's eyes were fixed on Xin Jiuwei's hair as she said with a fawning smile, "Now that they're all gone, if you've calmed down, please return my clothes. I'm Huaiyu's mother, it wouldn't be right for me to go out dressed like this and embarrass you, would it?"
"It seems you didn't understand what I said today." Xin Jiuwei didn't want to waste her breath arguing with her. "Wang Qing, didn't I tell you to throw the person out?"
Wang Qing opened her round almond-shaped eyes and said, "Miss, it must have been let in by the guards outside."
Mianfeng chimed in, feeling wronged, "Who in Yutang Pavilion listens to us anymore? This old woman acts like she's in her own home when she enters the Xin family."
What she said was true. Even in Xin Jiuwei's own courtyard, there were quite a few maids who were placed there by Feng through nepotism.
The first thing Xin Jiuwei will do now that she has been reborn is to remove all these malignant tumors.
She coldly summoned the guards, "Throw Feng out. As for who put her back, come before me and accept your punishment!"
The guards looked at each other, beads of sweat dripping down their faces.
Xin Jiuwei's expression turned cold, and Wang Qing, seeing this, shouted sternly, "What, you're not listening to Miss anymore!"
The guards had no choice but to bite the bullet and take Feng away.
Feng was stunned. Even as she struggled, she still shouted defiantly, "If you dare touch me, when my son comes back, I'll fine you your salaries!"
"Then let's see if he has the ability!" Xin Jiuwei said. "What are you standing there for? Don't you want to do it anymore?"
Seeing this, the guards finally hardened their hearts and arrested Madam Feng.
When threats failed, Madam Feng resorted to tantrums and wailing, "Wei'er, what's wrong with you today! You've always been the kindest to Granny Feng, who has bewitched you to bully this old woman like me—"
She appeared to be insane, yet somehow pitiful. The maids who swept and cleaned the courtyard came out to see what was going on. They had received small favors from Madam Feng in the past, and they even had the thought of pleading for her life.
