Extra 2 (Part 2)
Jiang Qixin only felt her head a little hot. She stretched her arm back and patted Xu Chengan's arm.
He knew that this was a sign that she was tired of having her hair blown, so Xu Cheng'an stopped blowing her hair and ran his fingers through her still slightly damp but warm hair.
She shook her head. "Almost done. No need to blow dry completely."
"Well, wait until your hair is completely dry before lying back on the bed." He put away the hair dryer and reminded her.
Jiang Qixin tugged at her ill-fitting pajamas and said, "I'm a little hungry."
Xu Chengan turned around and said, "Whatever you want to eat, I can make it for you."
She licked her lips subconsciously and said, "I want to eat the turkey noodles I bought recently."
Xu Cheng'an seemed to frown slightly.
Jiang Qixin lowered her head. Her uncle and aunt had been busy on business trips recently, and Xu Chengan was the only one at home. His gaze always reminded her of her mother, who could be a little strict sometimes.
He seemed to have never had a rebellious phase, and had always been righteous and awe-inspiring. Even his eyebrows and eyes showed an expression of being unable to resist, no matter how gentle Xu Cheng'an's expression towards her was.
"But I really want to eat instant noodles." Jiang Qixin pouted unconsciously. She knew very well that Xu Cheng'an would not refuse any of her suggestions.
He stared at her for a long moment, then relaxed his frown. "Okay, but you can't eat it all the time. It's not very healthy. You've already had instant noodles twice this week."
"It's just eating occasionally, it's okay." Jiang Qixin stood up and ran out of the study before Xu Cheng'an replied to her. Not long after, crackling sounds were heard from the kitchen.
Xu Cheng'an turned around and looked at her back, sighed, then turned and walked to the cloakroom to help her find pajamas that fit her.
After Jiang Qixin had eaten and drunk her fill, she brushed her teeth, washed her face, changed into the pajamas Xu Cheng'an had found for her, and jumped onto her bed.
"Going to bed so early tonight?" He switched the air conditioning mode to sleep mode.
"I've finished my homework today, and I just want to lie down on the bed." Jiang Qixin raised her eyebrows and looked at him, "Brother, aren't you going to sleep yet? You're getting dark circles under your eyes."
"I'll go to bed soon." He pulled the quilt over her. "If you want to go to bed early, go ahead. I'll turn off the lights in the living room."
She nodded.
Xu Cheng'an closed the door of Jiang Qixin's room and did not return to the study. Instead, he stood in front of the bathroom mirror, looking at his face carefully.
He touched his eyelashes. Fortunately, Jiang Qixin had lied to him just now. He clearly didn't have dark circles under his eyes.
He remembered that when she was very young, she had said that she liked his eyes very much. Xu Chengan breathed a sigh of relief silently.
By the time he finished reviewing his lessons and went to sleep, it was already quite early. Xu Chengan's sleep quality wasn't very good, but he fell asleep easily.
Xu Cheng'an fell asleep almost as soon as he lay down on the bed every night, but today he was woken up by thunder in the middle of the night.
He had always been a light sleeper, easily awakened by the slightest movement. Xu Chengan opened his eyes and froze for half a second before checking the time, only to realize it wasn't even twelve o'clock yet.
A streak of light flashed through the curtains, followed by a loud, muffled thunder. Xu Cheng'an's eyebrows twitched, and he had a bad feeling. He sat up, got out of bed, and walked to Jiang Qixin's room.
She was used to keeping the door closed when she slept, but she didn't lock it. Xu Cheng'an opened the door carefully and walked into her room quietly.
In the darkness, two pairs of eyes looked at each other silently.
Xu Cheng'an turned around and closed Jiang Qixin's door again, walked to the window and pulled the curtains completely, then walked straight to her bed and sat down. His movements were smooth and flowing.
"Were you woken by the thunder?"
Jiang Qixin huddled in the corner of the bed, wrapped in the quilt. She raised her head and shook her head at Xu Chengan, "I haven't fallen asleep yet." She moved closer to him.
"Can't sleep?" Xu Cheng'an reached over and hugged her through her thin blanket.
"I ate too much and can't sleep." Jiang Qixin touched his stomach a little embarrassedly.
He snorted lightly, as if with a smile, "I should have stopped you from eating so much." He touched Jiang Qixin's belly through the back of her hand.
"But I was really hungry at that time, and I ate too much without paying attention." As soon as she finished speaking, a deafening thunder sounded in her ears, and Jiang Qixin trembled with fear.
Xu Chengan instinctively hugged her tightly, "It's okay, I'm here."
Jiang Qixin raised her hand and grabbed his sleeve, her fingertips tightly twisting the fabric of the sleeve. Her breathing became a little heavy. Even though she was now surrounded by Xu Chengan's scent and body temperature, she couldn't calm down the uneasiness in her heart.
"I'll stay with you. You can lie down and sleep first, okay?"
She didn't say anything, just nodded.
Jiang Qixin lay down, using a corner of the quilt to motion Xu Chengan to lie down in.
Every early summer, the city would experience a period of thunderstorms. In the past, he would stay with Jiang Qixin during these thunderstorms. Even late at night, he would come to her room to check on her to make sure she was okay.
Xu Cheng'an lay down beside her without hesitation. She turned to face Xu Cheng'an like she did when she was a child, and her head hit his arms before her body.
He touched her hair according to her posture. The hair was warm but also a little cool with the remaining heat from her body.
Jiang Qixin knew that she had grown up a lot now and was no longer a child who needed to be coaxed, but she really couldn't control her emotions. She couldn't face the thunderstorm and couldn't completely forget the death of her parents.
Xu Cheng'an sensed her obvious uneasiness, hugged her tightly, and patted her back comfortingly.
"It's okay, it's okay." He said softly.
Jiang Qixin curled up her body and lifted her knees up. Perhaps she touched Xu Cheng'an's legs. He felt that her nightgown was curled up to her waist. Even though he couldn't see her lower body, he silently pulled up the hem of her skirt.
He wondered why he had found this nightgown for her.
Jiang Qixin felt that the breathing sound above her head became a little heavier. She pushed Xu Chengan with her hand, and her palm happened to touch his chest.
"Is the air conditioner not cool enough?" She thought he was trying to heat it up.
Xu Cheng'an's chest was a little sensitive, and her palm happened to touch his body through his pajamas. Xu Cheng'an instinctively shrank back.
"No, this temperature is just right." He pursed his lips and tried hard to calm himself down.
Jiang Qixin happened to be facing the window. Even though the curtains were drawn tightly, she could still clearly see the light outside the sky. She closed her eyes and sat up, quietly waiting for the thunder to come.
"It's okay, go to sleep, you have to get up early for school tomorrow morning."
"Yeah." She held Xu Cheng'an's arm, and finally fell asleep peacefully with the sound of his breathing.
The thunderstorm came with great force, but it also passed quickly, and the next day was a sunny day. Seeing the early morning sun, Jiang Qixin immediately regained his energy, completely forgetting that he had been frightened by the thunderstorm and couldn't sleep the previous night.
Xu Chengan had completely forgotten how he fell asleep. She was still approaching him without any reservations as before. He should be happy, but Xu Chengan was a little uneasy, always worried that she was so defenseless towards everyone.
"Brother, what are you thinking about? Go to school!"
Her voice interrupted Xu Chengan's thoughts. He picked up her schoolbag and said, "Let's go."
Xu Cheng'an happened to be three years older than Jiang Qixin, which resulted in them always seeming to miss each other when they were studying. She was still in kindergarten, and he was already in elementary school.
When he was in junior high school, she was still in elementary school. When Jiang Qixin finally got promoted to middle school, she was in the junior high school department and he was in the senior high school department.
Fortunately, the two of them had been studying in the same school since childhood. Although their different departments were not in the same place, it was still very convenient for Xu Cheng'an to wait for her after school.
He will be going to college after this year, which means he may have to be separated from Jiang Qixin for three years. They have not separated yet, but Xu Chengan inexplicably does not want to accept this reality.
In the past, the two of them would usually meet at the school gate and go home together. Jiang Qixin didn't know why Xu Cheng'an had to wait for her in her classroom recently.
"Your method seems to be faster." The last physics class happened to be discussing the test papers from a few days ago. Jiang Qixin turned around in his seat and discussed the questions with the person sitting behind him.
"I feel they are all about the same." The student sitting behind her had similar grades to her.
Jiang Qixin's social circle is not large. She is generally more familiar with the students sitting in front, behind, and on both sides of her desk. Especially those whose academic performance is similar and they are among the best in the class, so they can have more topics to talk about.
The student sitting at the back desk raised his head and talked to her, but was suddenly startled by a figure standing at the front door of the classroom.
Jiang Qixin followed his gaze and looked back at the classroom door, only to find that it was Xu Cheng'an. She raised her hand and waved at Xu Cheng'an.
Xu Cheng'an immediately curled his lips and smiled gently at her.
"Is that your brother?" The person sitting at the back table rubbed his eyes, confirming that the man in front of him with a gentle smile was the same person with a cold face just now.
"Yeah, my brother is in his senior year," she said, "Everyone's almost finished leaving, so I should go home first?"
"Yeah, I'm on duty today, so I'll be leaving later."
Jiang Qixin bent down to clean the desk, but found that she couldn't find the exercise book she wanted to take back.
Xu Chengan walked in from the classroom door, "What are you looking for?"
"That math workbook...the one I bought myself."
Xu Chengan pulled out a book from his schoolbag. "Is this the one? Our books got mixed up yesterday, and I accidentally brought it to school."
"Yes, yes, yes." Jiang Qixin took it with a smile and put all the books into her schoolbag. Before she was ready to put the bag on her back, Xu Cheng'an took her bag.
"Let's go. My parents are back from a business trip tonight. I'll make you a big dinner." Xu Cheng'an subconsciously looked back at the classmate sitting behind him who had already gone to get a broom to clean the room.
"Great." Jiang Qixin stood up. The setting sun outside the window cast a golden light. Perhaps because she got the highest score in this physics test, she was inexplicably in a good mood tonight.
She naturally took Xu Cheng'an's arm.
He froze for a moment, looking down at her white, bony hand resting on his arm.
My hands were a little cold after being exposed to the air conditioner in the classroom for a long time, and Xu Cheng'an, who had walked over from the high school department, had his body a little hot from the sun after being outdoors.
But he didn't know why he felt like her hand was burning him.
Jiang Qixin touched Xu Cheng'an's arm. He could play basketball and had also learned Sanda. His arms were muscular because he was carrying her heavy schoolbag.
She subconsciously touched the skin on Xu Chengan's arm up and down, "Brother, why do you feel stronger?"
