Master 06

Master 06

Song Jing was combing her hair that was just past her shoulders with a comb. The scene she had imagined of the cat destroying the house in the living room did not appear in front of her. Her living room was now empty and there seemed to be no other living things.

"Mimi, meow?" Song Jing's bad temper disappeared completely. She could not even open her eyes originally, but now her face was full of surprise.

The only response she received was the subtle hum of electricity from the electrical appliances in the house.

"No way, it's really gone?"

Song Jing glanced at the balcony door, which was still tightly closed. She grabbed her phone and looked at the owners' group to see a few people who agreed with her, but none of them were the owner of the Maine Coon cat.

Song Jing searched up and down for a while, and finally came to one conclusion - there might be no other living creatures in this house except spiders, mosquitoes and Song Jing.

She sat down on the sofa somewhat exhausted. Her stomach was already starving as she hadn't had breakfast yet. She touched her stomach and picked up her phone to contact the property management to confirm that no cats had been in any accidents in the community recently.

Could it be that it opened the door by itself, then closed it and ran back home? An idea suddenly popped into Song Jing's mind. Some cats are smart and can open and close doors. Unless the owners of the houses in the community have specially replaced the balcony doors, they should all be the same.

She walked to the balcony door and looked at the door handle. There was a tuft of cat hair on the smooth floor.

Song Jing choked up, thinking, could it really have run back home by itself?

Although this idea seemed to make sense, Song Jing still kept it in mind and talked to the property management. She thought that if the Maine Coon cat didn't return home and the owner came to look for her again, Song Jing would have a hard time explaining herself.

Song Jing took a piece of paper and picked up the small handful of cat hair on the ground, then threw it into the trash can.

It was almost eleven o'clock. After washing up, she ate two biscuits to fill her stomach and sat on the sofa waiting for the takeaway she had just ordered.

Song Jing ordered takeout from a restaurant that was a bit far away on a whim today. She sat on the sofa and watched half a variety show before the takeout arrived.

She ran downstairs quickly in her slippers, imagining the beautiful scene of taking the takeaway and feasting on the table.

He Mian wore casual clothes today and went out to buy groceries. His taste was too picky and he couldn't even get used to the food outside.

So he has already trained himself to be a good cook. If he were not busy at work, he would even cook his own lunch.

It happened that there was no oil at home, so He Mian walked back to the community with vegetables in his left hand and oil in his right hand. Before he reached the door of the building, he smelled Song Jing's scent.

He Mian's eyes quickly caught Song Jing. She was standing there with a frown on her face after hanging up the phone. If he listened carefully, he could even hear her sigh twice.

He was very sensitive to Song Jing's depressed mood. In addition to He Mian's perception, just looking at her expression, he could tell that Song Jing seemed very unhappy now.

He Mian walked up and stood beside her. "What's wrong?" he couldn't help but ask her.

Suddenly, feeling a source of heat approaching from behind and a sound coming from behind her ears, Song Jing subconsciously shrank her shoulders and looked back.

She lowered her eyebrows and glanced at He Mian. The veins in her hands were clearly visible because she was carrying heavy objects.

Looking at what was in his hand, Song Jing could guess that He Mian was probably out buying food again.

She touched her belly sadly, frowned and made an angry expression, but her tone was still calm. "My takeaway was stolen. It's shameful that people still steal takeaways in this day and age."

"I've been waiting for takeout for almost half an hour."

"What should we do now?" He Mian frowned slightly.

"Let's just make do with eating out." The store owner said he could deliver another portion or refund the money, but Song Jing thought it was too far and she was too hungry to bear it, so she just refunded the money and thought about going to the fast food restaurant downstairs in the community to get lunch.

He Mian thought of the meals that were so unpalatable to him, and his body subconsciously felt nauseous. He raised the things in his hand and said, "I just bought all the food for the whole day. How about coming to my house to eat?"

"Ah, that's a bit embarrassing."

"Didn't you say that cooking for one person is troublesome, but it's not that troublesome for two people? It's just a matter of adding a pair of chopsticks." He Mian's tone sounded very sincere.

Song Jing was actually not a person who was good at saying no. What she had just said was the best way of politely refusing that she could think of. After hearing what He Mian said, she felt embarrassed to refuse again.

She noticed that He Mian was not wearing formal clothes today, which was rare. He looked very homely in casual clothes. She thought that since He Mian could even make dim sum, he might be a good cook, although He Mian did not look like he could cook.

She pressed her lips and nodded, "Then please trouble Mr. He?"

Song Jing had never been to He Mian's house before, so she didn't know what it looked like. However, the overall decoration style was more in line with her stereotype of people like He Mian: simple and business-like.

It’s just that the cat climbing frame and the basket of yellow and blue plush balls in the living room seem a bit out of place.

"Thank you." Song Jing took the drink he handed her and quietly looked at the cat climbing frame for a few seconds, but she didn't see any cat running out of He Mian's house. "Mr. He, do you have a cat too?"

Song Jing remembered that He Mian had asked her this question when he saw Xiaomian's cat bed at her house. Most people are not so sensitive about items like cat beds, but if he also has a cat, then it makes sense.

He Mian paused while tidying up the refrigerator. He suddenly remembered the scene of being caught by Song Jing last night, and the incident in which Song Jing asked in the owner group whose cat was lost.

If He Mian didn't want to be close to her so much, he wouldn't have done such a dangerous thing as to go to her house.

"Well, yes, I did have a cat, but it was a friend's cat. I temporarily left it with me, and I sent it back to my friend this morning."

He lied without blushing or beating his heart. In the current concepts and cognition of the human world, they don't know how many species of creatures are now surviving in this world in the form of primates, Hominidae, genus Homo, species Homo sapiens.

Including him, a cat who lives like a human. In human terms, he is probably the cat god, managing all the cats in the city.

This morning... Song Jing was always good at getting to the point. She took small steps towards He Mian and asked, "What breed is your friend's cat?"

"It's a Maine Coon cat."

Song Jing excitedly took out her phone and placed the photo she had taken last night in front of He Mian. "Is this the cat?"

She subconsciously grabbed He Mian's sleeve and placed the phone in front of him, afraid that he couldn't see clearly because they were very close.

He Mian held his breath and could still clearly feel her scent and that familiar smell. Even after several years, her smell had not changed to him.

He forced a smile and nodded, pretending to be a little surprised. "It's this one. But why do you have a picture of it on your phone?"

Song Jing breathed a sigh of relief. The cat really went back to its home. "Last night, you, the cat, ran to my balcony." Then she told He Mian everything that happened last night.

She stood up and leaned closer to look at the kitchen. The small balcony in He Mian's kitchen happened to be next to the large balcony in Song Jing's house. There was also a platform outside the balcony that was neither too big nor too small, which was enough to support an adult Maine Coon cat running from He Mian's house to hers.

She walked to the small balcony of He Mian's house, then frowned and said in a serious tone: "It's too dangerous that you don't seal the windows."

He Mian lowered his head and hummed, "I just moved here and didn't have time to install it. It's really my fault. I've already contacted someone to install it."

Song Jing couldn't help but lose her composure when she thought of her lost cat. She realized belatedly that her tone of voice seemed a little off. She laughed awkwardly twice and said, "Fortunately, the cat is fine."

"By the way, Mr. He, aren't you in the owner group? I guessed last night that the cat must be a domestic cat, and I even asked for it in the owner group, but I didn't see you reply."

"Well, I moved here in such a hurry that I might not have had time to add it. Can you help me?"

"good."

He Mian cooperated and took out his cell phone to confirm. He lowered his head to look at the movements of Song Jing's hands, and the fragrance of her hair wafted through his nose.

I really want to be closer to her...

But he knew that Song Jing still kept a certain distance from him as a human, and there was some physical resistance. He had to take it slow and give him some time.

After finishing these, He Mian went into the kitchen to cook. Song Jing wanted to lend a hand, but was politely rejected by He Mian. "You are a guest now, how can I ask a guest to work hard? I can do it by myself. I'm just cooking a meal for two."

Song Jing was also a little afraid that she would make things worse, so she had to walk back to the living room in a bad mood. She squatted in front of the box of plush balls, picked up a toy ball and looked at it with some boredom. It was probably a toy for cats, but the label on it had not been removed and it looked like there were no signs of use.

He Mian seemed very skilled at cooking. It didn't take him long to prepare three dishes and a soup. The soup had been simmering on low heat before he went out to buy groceries, so it was ready now.

"Our hometowns are close to each other, so the tastes should not be too different, but I still don't know if it will suit your taste." He Mian took off his apron and brought the dishes to the dining table.

Song Jing was holding a bowl and scooping soup. Her hand holding the spoon paused. She was not familiar enough with He Mian to know where he was from, and it seemed that they had never talked about anything related to their hometown before.

"How do you know where I'm from?" She didn't speak with much of an accent, and it was hard to tell where she was from just from her accent.

She couldn't help but think of how He Mian knew her class without her telling him. "And when we mentioned we were alumni, you also knew my class beforehand."

Song Jing has never been the kind of person who beats around the bush, nor does she have any ulterior motives. Her friends around her are not of that kind either, so many times she would speak directly when she has any doubts.

He Mian hung up his apron and said, "Minister Liu mentioned this to me before." He felt inexplicably guilty. As expected, if he told a lie, he would have to cover it up with countless lies.

But he couldn't just run up to Song Jing and say something like "Master, I am your pet."
