Master 12
Song Jing is very sensitive to some smells and has a keen sense of the smell of many volatile reagents. Her olfactory recognition threshold for most smells is even lower than the average level of ordinary people.
So when she smelled a hint of rusty blood in the air, she was obviously a little surprised, because she didn't remember smelling this smell just now. This smell seemed to suddenly appear in the space she was in.
The front door and the back door of the gate were connected, and the wind blew in from the direction of the door. Song Jing subconsciously hugged herself with her arms.
He Mian caught the fleeting look of something wrong on her face and coughed lightly, "There was an urgent matter, so I went out for a while and just came back now."
"Oh, you work quite hard." Song Jing said and sniffed quietly again, but due to the influence of her sense of smell adapting, she could not smell any obvious smell of blood.
She turned her head to look in the direction of the back door. There was no street light directly shining on the back door of the building, so the small back door was just a dark rectangle in her eyes.
Could it be that the smell from the trash can drifted into the room on the wind?
The elevator went down to the first floor, and with a ding, the door opened. He Mian followed Song Jing into the elevator one after the other.
"Well, I've just been a little busy lately. There are also some things at the headquarters that need my attention. I'll probably feel a little more relaxed once I'm done with them." He Mian responded to her words.
Song Jing nodded silently.
The elevator was neither big nor small, but he and Song Jing were very close. He smelled the refreshing scent of shower gel and facial cleanser on her body, and suddenly he didn't want the elevator door to open.
However, it only took about thirty seconds to go from the first floor to the sixteenth floor. During this time, no one got on or off the elevator, and the two returned home in silence.
After coming out of the elevator, the two turned right side by side and opened their own doors. Song Jing turned her head and saw He Mian staring at her.
His eyes, which looked a bit like amber and a bit like hazelnut, seemed to be shining under the illumination of the small lamp in the corridor. "Good night, go to bed early."
"Well, you should go to bed early too." She replied seriously, and her figure disappeared from He Mian's sight as the door closed.
After returning home, He Mian sat on the sofa and then rested while pinching his swollen temples before he recovered. His sense of smell was even more sensitive than Song Jing's. He sniffed the blood on his body with some concern, thinking about the stray cat he had just rescued in the community.
It was past twelve o'clock and He Mian still hadn't fallen asleep.
It was not until he received a message from the veterinarian at night that he sighed with relief and fell into a deep sleep.
-
Early this morning, Song Jing went to the company and ran straight to the laboratory to count the things on her laboratory bench. She left the company with her backpack and another bag in her hand.
The bionic robot industry in the entire city of A and even the entire country is monopolized by Song Jing's company, so much so that some research in this direction is a joint collaboration between the government and enterprises.
Bionic robots are not just primitive and simple artificial intelligence. This industry is far more complicated than the most basic AI. In addition to big data, it also involves the study of the human brain and animal behavior. The aspects and data statistics that need to be studied are very large.
The laboratory of the small branch where Song Jing works alone has several equipment worth tens of millions of yuan, and there is also a system worth over 100 million yuan located in the center of the laboratory.
However, these devices are not surprising for the Municipal Biochemical Research Institute, because the research and experiments are too complicated, and sometimes the company's laboratory is not sufficient to provide testing conditions. In this case, Song Jing and others will make an appointment for testing at the institute, and bring their own things from the laboratory to the institute to continue their work.
The institute has dedicated instrument staff. Whenever Song Jing goes to work at the institute, she spends almost half of her time sitting and waiting for the instrument staff to operate. What she worries about is not whether the operation is complicated, but whether the final test results are ideal.
Because today's test takes some time, she also had lunch in the institute's cafeteria. After the results come out in the afternoon, she can go home directly after get off work.
However, Song Jing did not expect that He Mian would also come to the institute today, probably to discuss work matters with the institute's leaders.
Song Jing was tired of sitting so she walked out to the corridor outside the instrument room to stretch her legs. Then she saw He Mian walking towards her. "Mr. He, what a coincidence."
He Mian smiled and said, "Unfortunately, I came here specifically to find you."
Song Jing pointed at herself and said, "You're looking for me. Is there something going on in the department?"
He shook his head. "Why does it have to be work-related? Can't I come to you for personal matters?"
He knew Song Jing had a test scheduled for today, so he came to see her after finishing work. He Mian glanced at the door of the instrument room and asked, "How long will it take you?"
Song Jing glanced at the alarm on her phone and said, "It's almost time. Only thirteen minutes left."
"Do you have any other work after this?"
Song Jing shook her head.
He Mian looked at the time on his watch and said, "It's still early."
Song Jing was stretching her arms and waist. She paused as she raised her hand. "Um, are we going back to the company?"
When meeting He Mian at the company, Song Jing automatically put his role as a superior before his role as her good neighbor. Suddenly remembering that she was with her boss during working hours, her tone was neither cold nor indifferent.
He Mian lowered his hands, shook his head, and smiled aggrievedly: "No need. Why are you looking at me like a bad guy?" He Mian now finally realized how wrong his decision was to reappear in Song Jing's world as her new boss.
It turns out that humans hate their superiors so much!
"Tomorrow is the weekend. We can go home together and buy food for tomorrow, okay?" He Mian said with some anticipation. On weekdays they only had dinner together, but on weekends they could spend three meals a day together.
He lowered his head and looked at Song Jing, his eyes full of sincere request.
"Oh, right, today is Friday." Song Jing just remembered that she needed to buy some daily necessities for home. It had been a long time since she came to the institute. She rolled her eyes and thought carefully, "Great, there seems to be a large shopping mall nearby."
The shopping mall is very close to here, less than five minutes' drive away. Fortunately, it was not yet the rush hour when Song Jing finished her work, so the two drove to the mall together.
After entering the supermarket, Song Jing went straight to the fresh food area. What He Mian said before was true, their tastes were indeed quite compatible.
He always seemed to be able to guess what she wanted to eat and knew her favorite dishes. He Mian also knew how big their appetites were, and it was not yet four o'clock when they paid the bill.
He Mian took the initiative to carry all the shopping bags, but Song Jing felt a little embarrassed. After a few pleasantries, she finally took the lightest bag from He Mian.
"Are we going home now, or are we going to go shopping for a while longer?" He Mian asked with his head tilted as the two of them got on the escalator leaving the supermarket.
"I want to eat ice cream!" Song Jing pointed to an ice cream shop at the escalator entrance. She quickly walked over to the clerk and ordered a cup of ice cream with a new flavor. "Want some? I'll treat you."
Song Jing realized it belatedly and turned back to look at He Mian who had caught up with her and asked.
Kittens can't refuse gifts from their owners.
He Mian responded with a "OK" and ordered the same flavor as her.
Song Jing hadn't been out to the mall in a long time, nor had she eaten ice cream in a long time. "This new one doesn't taste as good as the milk-flavored one." Song Jing took a sip, and her tongue shuddered when it touched the ice cream. "I should have given you something milk-flavored earlier."
"I think they are all delicious." Of course, anything Song Jing gave him was delicious. He could even eat the tasteless boiled chicken breast she made before. He Mian's taste was always picky only towards outsiders.
The ice cream cup was very large. Song Jing felt full after eating half of it. She took a short break and sat in her seat looking around.
Song Jing suddenly tilted her head and smiled, then waved her hand.
He Mian looked over and found that she was greeting a Samoyed puppy in the glass window of the shop opposite. He looked up and saw that it was a dog cafe. Many people were having afternoon tea at this time, but because it was a weekday, there were neither too many nor too few people in the shop.
Song Jing turned around and looked at He Mian, "He Mian, I want to go to the dog cafe. It seems to be smiling at me." She pointed at the Samoyed that was still staring at Song Jing.
He Mian looked at the puppy and knew that it was indeed looking at Song Jing and deliberately seducing her, but he couldn't bear to refuse her when he saw her happy expression. Naturally, he would accompany her to do whatever Song Jing wanted to do.
"Well, I haven't been to a place like this before."
Song Jing pulled He Mian in with ease, sat down and ordered two cups of coffee. This was not her first time in this shop; she and Jiang Qixin had been there twice before.
Compared to many dog cafes on the market, the owner of this shop is very conscientious, the hygiene of the shop is very good, the puppies are in good condition, and even the staff in the shop are very gentle.
However, she has been busy with work recently and hasn't gone out shopping for a long time, not to mention these cat and dog cafes. She probably hasn't been to them for half a year. But the Samoyed in the store seemed to remember her.
He Mian loosened his tie and sat next to Song Jing. His status made him love all animals, but that didn't mean he was happy to see Song Jing pet other puppies and kittens, especially since cats and dogs were inexplicably incompatible.
When the Samoyed saw her coming in, he ran to Song Jing, wagging his tail and sticking to her calf, wanting her to touch him.
"So cute, so cute." Song Jing was actually quite afraid of dogs before, but the puppies here in the dog cafe are very gentle and enthusiastic.
When she came here with Jiang Qixin before, she liked the Samoyed in front of her the most.
The Samoyed's fur is long and white and feels very comfortable to touch. Song Jing likes furry things. Although she rarely pets dogs, she also likes this Samoyed very much.
The puppy still smelled sweet, probably because it had just had a bath today. Song Jing just patted its head, and its tail was shaking like a propeller.
Song Jing's amazing ability to attract small animals was fully displayed in the dog cafe. All the free puppies around ran to her to ask for hugs and touches.
He Mian still sat silently beside her, watching her pet the puppy.
Song Jing felt a sudden cold and hot feeling on her back, which made her feel a little uncomfortable. She silently turned her head to look at He Mian and found that they were quite close to each other, and their warm breaths were intertwined in the air.
Song Jing was stunned for a few seconds, then leaned back slightly as if realizing it belatedly.
She noticed that He Mian's face didn't look very good. "Mr. He, don't you like puppies?"
Song Jing felt a little apologetic, wondering if she had forgotten to consider He Mian's feelings. She wondered if He Mian was afraid of dogs. She had been afraid of dogs before, so she could understand his feelings.
"It's okay, I'm just not very interested." He Mian explained reluctantly.
"Good dog, go play with your brother." She touched the Samoyed's big head.
He Mian looked at her profile. There were many creatures around her, especially the smell of dogs was very obvious.
But the scent that belonged only to her was also flowing through his nose.
Jingjing, when can you touch me, when can you hug me.
