Inside the Hall of Ten Thousand Streams, the statements of the Tidal Sea Dragon and the Fiery Hell Demon Whale, along with the tacit approval of the Deep Sea Giant Turtle, seemed to bring this debate about the island to a close.
Gu Xi and the others felt a huge weight lifted off their shoulders.
In the deep-sea world, the will of an SSS-class being is an inviolable law, at least in public.
With the endorsement of these SSS-level beings, the legitimacy of the Deep Sea Human Race's existence on the island can be considered to have been initially established.
However, the atmosphere in the venue did not become entirely relaxed as a result.
Those deep-sea creatures that had been shouting the loudest before, such as the jellyfish and the blacktip reef shark, were now silent, but their eyes were filled with resentment and malice.
They lost face at the conference, failing to extract any benefits from humans and instead being severely suppressed by the potential crises of the Tar era and the law of the supremacy of strength.
Gu Xi took in all these sinister gazes.
Nobody's stupid; a public victory doesn't mean everything is going smoothly, and the real trouble may have just begun.
The complexity of the deep-sea world far exceeds imagination. Beneath the apparent rules lie countless undercurrents of personal grudges and conflicts of interest.
The General Assembly has finally come to a close.
Gu Xi, Sun Yiming, Luo Lin, and the others exchanged a few words with several friendly representatives of the neutral races before declining the invitation from the friendly Deep Sea Clan and leaving in a hurry.
On the way back to the island, the group had mixed feelings.
On the one hand, they successfully established themselves at the General Assembly, demonstrating their strength and sending out sufficiently attractive (or intimidating) messages.
On the other hand, they also made many enemies, especially those who suffered losses at the conference.
"Sister Xi, do you think those guys will let this go?" Sun Yiming asked, rubbing his hands together as he sat in the newly built Future Building on the new island.
Looking out at the deep sea, Gu Xi calmly said, "Of course not. Just wait, they'll make their move soon."
While organizing the data from the Tar era left by Ais, Lorraine added without looking up, "Groups like the Phantom Jellyfish and Blacktip Shark are used to using power and plunder to gain benefits. If it doesn't work at the conference, they will consider other means. Private attacks, harassment, and even joining forces with other disgruntled groups are all possible options."
"A coalition?" Sun Yiming frowned. "Do they even have the brains for that?"
“When interests align, brains are enough,” Lorraine said calmly. “The value we’ve demonstrated, whether it’s the islands, the technology, or the information from the Tar era, is enough to unite some greedy individuals.”
Flamescale muttered from the side, "Bring it on! Who's afraid of who! Smash their heads!"
It had been holding back its anger at the conference and was eager to vent it. Plus, Ais was nowhere to be found, and it was waiting for the island situation to be resolved so it could get Gu Xi to lead them to the sea to find him.
Gu Xi looked at Yan Lin with a hint of appreciation in his eyes, "Yan Lin is right, we are not afraid. But we cannot let our guard down. Sun Yiming, once you get back, immediately activate the highest alert plan. Upgrade the defenses, expand the patrol area, and put everyone on standby."
