The man and the cat stared at each other for an unknown amount of time.

Five minutes? Ten minutes? It shouldn't have been that long. Wu Siqi guessed it was about two minutes. If it hadn't been so long, she would have thought the cat opening its eyes was an illusion.

The little cow cat was quiet and did not move at all except for opening its eyes, with its limbs still hanging limply.

The clear yellow cat's eyes stared at Wu Siqi for a long time, and as if unable to help looking tired, they blinked twice and closed again.

There was no more movement.

The slowed heart rate was slowly recovering. Wu Siqi raised her hand to smooth her bangs. It was not the first time she looked into the eyes of a cat, but it was the first time that a very strange emotion overflowed from her heart.

Before she could figure out what was going on, the phone rang, interrupting her thoughts.

After glancing at the caller ID, Wu Siqi answered immediately: "Hello, Boss."

"The client wants to finalize the case at nine o'clock tomorrow morning, and I need to review the new proposal before eight o'clock." The voice on the other end of the phone was serious.

Wu Siqi responded with "hmm" and "oh", raised his wrist to check the time, 16:12.

"I'm on my way back and will hand it in on time tomorrow." After receiving the accurate reply, the other party hung up the phone.

Putting aside the emotions that she had no time to care about, her busy work did not allow her to think too much about trivial things.

With a click, Wu Siqi closed the security door. The cat in the cage opened its eyes again, its glass-clear eyes staring at the direction Wu Siqi left, its long pupils motionless.

After a long time, he squinted his eyelids as if satisfied, and then closed his eyes again.

At twelve o'clock in the morning, only three or two lights were on in the company. At her workstation, Wu Siqi's smooth long hair was casually clipped with a shark clip. She wore glasses with long black frames on her straight nose, which made her look serious and cold, covering up her beautiful eyebrows and eyes.

She typed with an expressionless face. There were five or six people working overtime like her, two of whom were colleagues in the same group. They came to ask Wu Siqi for details from time to time.

Under the glow of the computer screens, tired faces appeared one after another. Advertising agencies around the world were working excessive amounts of overtime, and their company was no exception.

The coffee in his hand was almost gone. Wu Siqi raised his head and stretched, took off his glasses and pinched his nose bridge to refresh himself, stood up, picked up the cup and went to the tea house to make coffee, turning on the surveillance camera at home as he walked.

On the gray-white screen in infrared mode, the little black cat Sheriff in the cat cage still maintained the same posture as before she went out, without any change.

She dialed the number again, but there was still no change. She swiped away the monitoring software without any emotion and returned to her workstation with a hot coffee.

She placed her hands on the keyboard, her mind sliding across the pair of clear yellow pupils from the daytime, and a strange emotion surfaced again.

Sadness, a sadness so strong that it could not be dissolved, the kitten conveyed this emotion to Wu Siqi.

She converted the revised plan into a PDF and packed it together with the new poster she had just received and sent it to Boss Cui's work email address. Hers was the only computer in the office that was still on.

The clock on the wall was about to point to one o'clock. In fact, she didn't care about working overtime. She was not like other people who had someone waiting for them at home and just played with their mobile phones when they got home.

The work is pretty good, not so boring.

It was just the beginning of spring and the wind was a bit cold in the early morning. Wu Siqi got out of the taxi and held her windbreaker tightly, which was blown open. Her tall and thin figure looked bleak in the night wind.

When I opened the old security door, the room was pitch black.

She walked into the bathroom in the dark, washed up quickly, and collapsed on the sofa in exhaustion.

"Meow." The unfamiliar cat's meow woke Wu Siqi who was just about to fall asleep.

After turning on the light in the living room, the little black cat sheriff was about to stand up, but he fell down again because of the injury to his front legs.

Wu Siqi's sleepiness disappeared instantly, and he quickly prepared cat food and water. The cat raised its head and sniffed the food bowl in front of it, then pushed the bowl away with its chin in disgust, licked a few sips of water, and then lowered its head again.

What an anthropomorphic cat. Never mind. Wu Siqi opened a can of pure meat for it. The little black cat sheriff still looked disgusted. His whiskers were pricked up. When he was about to push the cat away, he looked up and saw the person outside the cage looking at him expectantly.

It narrowed its eyes and licked the can a few times resignedly. Seeing that it was willing to eat and drink, Wu Siqi finally let go of his worries.

"That's great." Wu Siqi stroked its head with his knuckles as if to comfort it. When he was about to pull away, the little black cat sheriff raised his head and rubbed against him again.

Wu Siqi raised his eyebrows happily and opened his five fingers to scratch its chin. The little black cat sheriff must have liked it very much. He purred and squinted his eyes comfortably.

A kitten with such a good personality should be easy to adopt, Wu Siqi thought as he stroked the kitten.

She picked up the phone next to her, which showed that it was already past two o'clock. She turned on the camera on her phone, found several angles, and quickly took a few close-up photos of the little black cat sheriff.

It has big, round eyes, a standard eight-shaped face, and smooth, shiny fur. Except for the long wound on its white gloves which is rather scary, anyone who sees it would want to take it home and treat it well.

It’s not that she doesn’t like anyone here except Wu Siqi, but she can’t support them.

Because there have been countless examples that have proven that animals that often stay in the same space with her will become lethargic after a long time and then develop minor illnesses that cannot be cured.

This was attributed to the problem of magnetic field destiny. Everyone has his or her own destiny, but she also accepted her fate, so whenever she rescued stray animals, she would send them out for adoption when they were almost cured.

She closed the cage door and lay back on the sofa. Just as she was about to close her eyes, the weak cat meow sounded again, "Meow."

She seemed to understand the meaning of the cat's meow and replied, "Well, good night."

Wu Siqi didn't sleep well tonight. She kept dreaming. The dream was full of chaos. When she turned off the alarm, she woke up and didn't remember what happened in the dream. She just felt a headache.

As she got older, staying up late became more and more harmful to her health. In the past, she could stay up all night and then just take a ten-minute nap and continue working.

After applying some loose powder to cover the dark circles under his eyes, Wu Siqi lamented that time is merciless.

After a night, the food bowl in the cage was still the same. She replaced the kitten's canned cat food with a new one, added a few freeze-dried nutritional supplements, and some water before going out to work.

Black Cat Sheriff lay there with his head drooping and his eyes half open. His little head looked at Wu Siqi's departing back, not knowing what he was thinking.

The plan that had been revised eighty thousand times finally passed the final acceptance. Wu Siqi and his entire team were relieved. After Boss Cui left with the sponsor, they all collapsed powerlessly on their office chairs, looking utterly disorganized.

A slightly younger girl stood up, stretched, and wailed, "Finally passed!"

Wu Siqi was also in a good mood; her night wasn't in vain. She sorted out the documents and sent a link to order food in the group chat. "I'll treat you to milk tea. Everyone, please feel free. Let's adjourn. Group C will need the conference room later."

Amidst cheers, she was the first to push open the door of the conference room. On the way back to her workstation, she opened the monitoring app and saw the little black cat sheriff tilting his head back and licking water obediently.

Cute, Wu Siqi laughed unconsciously.

"Looking at the phone and smiling, are you in love?"

The person who spoke was Boss Cui, who had just returned from seeing off a guest. He leaned forward with his upper body in his pockets. Wu Siqi took a half step back and shook the surveillance camera on his phone. "What kind of love are you talking about? You're just looking at cats."

He shook his head helplessly, pointing his finger at the air. "You, you, you worked overtime until the early hours yesterday, didn't you? You performed well. I'll give your team half a day off this afternoon. Go back and have a good rest. We still have a battle to fight."

Wu Siqi wasn't surprised. She raised an eyebrow and put her phone away. "I'll go talk to them." After giving instructions to the team members, she grabbed her bag without looking back and went home to sleep!

Wu Siqi took off his leather shoes at the entrance and walked into the house wearing only his black socks. The little black cat Sheriff seemed to have learned to avoid wounds. He stood up, stretched his long neck and looked at Wu Siqi, saying softly, "Meow."

"Good boy," Wu Siqi approached the cage. The food bowl had been eaten clean. She opened the cage and picked up the cat. The little black cat Sheriff had no intention of resisting. He let her do whatever she wanted like a pool of liquid, and pressed his soft belly against Wu Siqi.

She put the cat on the mat and patted its head. "Be good and don't move. I need to apply medicine on you."

"Meow." This call made Wu Siqi feel soft in the heart.

Wu Siqi first wiped the cat's wounds with iodine, then applied Yunnan black medicine. The wounds healed well, and there were no broken bones. "What a strong little cat," he said.

She gently rubbed the cat's head, and the little black cat Sheriff licked her palm in return. The barbs scratched her a little, and she smiled and said, "Don't run around or jump around. Your wound took a lot of effort to scab over."

Little Black Cat Sheriff: "Meow."

Such a human-like kitten, with an amazing clip voice, so cute. Wu Siqi covered his heart which was hit.

She cleaned the cat litter box, washed the food and water bowls, and put away the medicines. It took her half an hour to finish everything.

She was about to carry the little black cat Sheriff back to the cage, but the kitten reluctantly rubbed her hand away and looked at Wu Siqi with its big eyes, "Meow."

Super clamp!

"No, what if you run around and tear the wound? You have to go back." Wu Siqi ignored its pleading.

“Meow!”

Its pupils were dilated to their maximum, its eyes were watery, and it made a soft sound, "It, it!" It also rubbed its head against Wu Siqi's neck and made a gurgling sound in her ear.

I'm afraid it has become a spirit and is very good at manipulating humans.

Wu Siqi: "Okay, okay."

Wu Siqi surrendered, and she got goose bumps all over her body from being rubbed.

She put the little black cat Sheriff back on the mat, put away all the stools in the house to prevent it from practicing high jump when she disagreed, closed the door, and sorted out all the miscellaneous items.

Then move the food bowl, water bowl and litter box from the cage to the ground to make it easier for the cat to use.

Wu Siqi yawned without warning, feeling very sleepy.

After checking the locked door, she threw herself on the sofa, buried her face in the pillow, and said in a muffled voice: "I'm going to sleep, be good."

"Meow."
