This ice cube is interesting.
The swing was simple, made of thickened stainless steel without any decoration. This was Su Bai's first time sitting on a swing, and it felt a bit strange.
Shen Yanshu asked him, "Have you ever played on a swing before?"
Su Bai shook his head, "I haven't played it before."
Shen Yanshu said, "Then I'll teach you. Put your feet on the ground like this, then take two steps back. Suddenly, pull your legs back and rush forward, and you'll swing."
"Try it. The higher you go, the more fun it is."
Su Bai watched her teaching carefully and understood immediately.
After the swing swung twice, she looked at Su Bai's legs curled up and said, "Your legs are too long."
Su Bai stopped and felt a little embarrassed, but he felt good.
"Is it fun?"
"good."
Su Bai stopped and slowly shook himself, imitating Shen Yanshu.
"What did you eat to grow so tall?"
"Maybe it's the milk you don't drink."
"Why don't you say it's your genes?"
“That’s also possible.”
"Well, my parents are both quite tall. I wish I could grow to over 170cm tall."
Shen Yanshu is 168cm tall, which means he is not short at all. It is Su Bai who is too tall.
Su Bai said, "You are very tall."
"But if we kiss, it's difficult for me to reach you even if I stand on tiptoe." Shen Yanshu was a little distressed.
Su Bai's breathing tightened, and he said, "...I can bend over."
"Are your parents as tall as you?" Shen Yanshu said.
Su Bai shook his head. "My father is not as tall as me."
"Gene mutation?"
“Not really.”
"It's so difficult to get any news about your family." Shen Yanshu stretched out his voice, a little discouraged.
Su Bai's heart moved, it turned out that he wanted to know these things.
"My grandfather is from Nova, my grandmother is from Ningcheng, and my maternal grandparents are both German. They don't like city life and are now farming in the countryside."
"Is that the castle Anna mentioned?"
"Not entirely. They have their own estate and like to grow vegetables and flowers."
"My grandparents also like to grow vegetables and flowers." He took out his phone and opened the photo album. "Look, these are the vegetables and flowers they grow. They are really beautiful. But there are a lot of mosquitoes, so they have to keep them away. What does their vegetable garden look like?"
Su Bai didn't have many photos on his phone. The few he had were sent by his grandmother, telling him how well the vegetables she grew were growing and asking him to come home more often.
Shen Yanshu came over to look at the photo on Su Bai's phone: "Wow, this tomato is so big."
"Want to eat?"
"think."
"When you want to go, I can take you there."
"Really?"
"real."
"Anything else?"
"You can turn the page later." Su Bai handed the phone to Shen Yanshu.
Shen Yanshu took it and accidentally touched Su Bai's finger, "The screen is off."
"The password is 0630." Su Bai said.
This number sounded familiar to Shen Yanshu, as if it was the day when she and Su Bai first met.
Shen Yanshu unlocked the page, turned the page, and exclaimed, "What beautiful flowers."
"They have a huge garden with a huge collection of white and blue flowers, and when they bloom they are just magnificent and beautiful."
"It must look better than on the phone."
“Yes, but there are occasional animals that come to bother us.”
"What animal?"
"Snakes and stuff."
Shen Yanshu was quite afraid of this. It was late at night and they were under a tree. He subconsciously moved closer to Su Bai and said, "Don't mention this next time."
"Okay, I'll remember that."
It turns out that Shen Yanshu is afraid of snakes.
She flipped through a few more pictures, feeling uneasy because of what she had just said. She returned the phone to Su Bai and continued to ask, "Where are your parents?"
When talking about his parents, Su Bai didn't know how to start.
"My mother manages the family's shipping group, and my father is now semi-retired. They don't see each other often, and I don't go home very often."
"Part of the reason I came to Ningcheng was because of the conflict with him regarding marriage, but more importantly, it was for the company."
"I remember the first time we met, you were in a car accident and looked very angry."
"Well, I had just gotten off the plane and was trying to go to the auction, but then I encountered that incident. I was in a bad mood. I felt a little unlucky, but Guan Cheng said, 'There's a saying in China that good fortune and misfortune go hand in hand, and maybe there will be other gains.'"
"Is that possible?" Shen Yanshu leaned on the swing rope and looked at him.
Su Bai nodded and said, "Yes."
"Is it me?"
The street lights in the leisure area were very bright, and the shadow of the tree fell on Shen Yanshu's face, changing across her face as the swing swayed gently, and her long, soft curly hair fell in front of her.
Su Bai was a little distracted for a moment, then replied: "Yes."
Shen Yanshu smiled and said, "Then I am very lucky."
"I'm lucky, Shen..."
Shen Yanshu looked at Su Bai's tangled expression and found it a little funny: "Didn't you call me Xiaoshu before? Do you want to change it back to Miss Shen?"
Su Bai's eyes suddenly widened, then he lowered them, looking reluctant, "Actually, I don't want to call you that."
"Why?"
"Because other people call you that too."
I want to have a unique name for you, something only I can call you.
Shen Yanshu was curious and asked, "Then what do you want to call me?"
He answered honestly: "I haven't thought about it yet."
"Then take your time to think about it."
"good."
The children in the children's area were a little noisy, and could be heard from a long distance away. Maltese raised his head from Su Bai's arms and looked around, then put his head on Su Bai's strong and powerful forearm.
Shen Yanshu watched the puppy wake up, looked at it for a long time, and said, "Su Bai."
"Um?"
"Do you have any other reasons for raising Xiaobai?"
This thought suddenly appeared in Shen Yanshu's mind. She always felt that there were other reasons besides the reasons she gave during the day.
Su Bai didn't answer her for a long time, and she thought Su Bai would not answer.
"Before I got it, I didn't like keeping pets. For one thing, I didn't have the time to take care of them, and for another, I didn't want to develop any attachments to them. Their lifespans are much shorter than humans'..." Su Bai said, "But the first time I saw it, I thought of you. It has big, round black eyes like you, and its smile is just as adorable. The first thing I saw was it smiling at me."
"Or maybe it looks like me. The shop owner said it was a stray dog, so when it smiled at me, my heart softened and I thought about taking it away. So I asked it if it wanted to come with me, and it barked. I guess this is fate between us."
"After meeting you, it is no longer a stray dog." Shen Yanshu said.
"Yes." Su Bai said, "If it encounters it, it will stop wandering."
"You just praised it for being cute and said it looked like me. Were you praising me for being cute?"
Su Bai nodded slightly after a moment's delay.
Shen Yanshu swung the swing twice with satisfaction, "Do you like me more now?"
“It’s rising very quickly.”
My dry heart is gradually filling up with water because of you. I think it will soon usher in its flood season.
"It's the same for me. I'm probably growing along with you." Shen Yanshu looked at Su Bai, their eyes meeting. "I thought I wouldn't be full anymore, but I found that the more I get to know you, the more space I have to keep liking you."
She said: "When I was in school, I didn't agree with Whitehead's theory, but now it seems that has changed."
When I was in school, my teacher said that knowledge needs to be verified by practice. A theory that you think is wrong and one-sided now may one day be found to have its merits.
There is no absolutely wrong philosophical theory in this world. It just depends on your perspective and how you think.
Su Bai asked: "What has it become?"
Shen Yanshu chuckled and said, "Now I think what he said makes sense."
There is nothing permanent and unchanging, only a process of continuous change and growth.[2]
After nearly twenty years of education, Shen Yanshu felt that he had said something that was disobedient to his ancestors. But then he thought, Whitehead was also one of the ancestors, so it didn't count.
"I always thought Whitehead was unpopular." Shen Yanshu asked.
"I remember you studied economics at Harvard for your undergraduate degree." Shen Yanshu's mind flashed back to Whitehead's life. "Yes, he was a teacher at Harvard."
Su Bai explained: "I started to read some philosophical works some time ago, and accidentally came across Russell, and then I saw him."
"I thought you were only interested in finance." Shen Yanshu's waist ached from sitting. He glanced at his phone and said, "It's already ten o'clock. Do you want to go home and sleep?"
Su Bai said, "Okay. You've been working lately and it's very tiring. You need to rest early."
"Otherwise, come and help me with my work." Shen Yanshu said coquettishly.
“I don’t think Mr. Shen would agree.”
"Does that mean you'll help me with my work as long as he agrees?"
Shen Yanshu came close to Su Bai and watched him turn his head away unnaturally.
She suppressed her laughter for a long time before she mercifully let Su Bai go: "Okay, I get it."
On the way back, she was a little excited. It seemed that Su Bai was not an ice cube.
"I have to go to work tomorrow, and I have to take my grandma for a checkup the day after tomorrow. If I don't reply to your message, don't think too much."
"Okay. I'm going to Nova tomorrow."
"Taking care of work?"
"Yes, but you can always message me."
"Then you wait for my news."
"Um."
Seeing that Su Bai didn't speak again, she pretended to talk to the puppy: "Xiaobai, your owner is so cold."
“Not indifferent.”
"Then say more."
"What do you want me to say?"
"I want you to say, good night, Xiaoshu, I will dream of you tonight." Then he looked at Su Bai with anticipation.
She could hardly hold back any longer. The more she explored Su Bai, the more interesting it became.
You said, why is this ice cube so interesting?
Su Bai was standing at the door of the car, and Shen Yanshu was very close to him, with his hands behind his back, standing on tiptoe and leaning closer to him. His breath penetrated the fabric and fell on his skin, and his body suddenly tensed up.
"If you don't tell me, I might not be able to sleep. Can you bear to see me go to work with dark circles under my eyes?"
There was no loss in his eyes, but rather a sparkling look.
"good evening."
"Then what?"
"Little...little book."
"I……"
Shen Yanshu's plan succeeded, and he stood up straight. "Good night, Su Bai, remember to dream about me tonight."
Then he ran away, leaving Su Bai alone and disheveled in the wind.
Watching Shen Yanshu run away, Su Bai smiled.
"I'll dream about you."
