The Su family's butler's name is Wei Ran. His wife's due date is in a month, but today she accidentally fell and bled a lot and fainted.
Wei Ran doesn't have a mother; his wife's mother-in-law is the one who takes care of her. His wife's mother-in-law only went back to her hometown for a short trip, and then this accident happened.
Wei Ran clasped his hands tightly together, pacing back and forth at the doorway, his eyes fixed on the red light of the operating room.
He, who never believed in gods or Buddhas, prayed to all the gods and Buddhas he knew in his heart.
The operating room door opened: "Which one of you is a family member of the patient?"
Wei Ran stepped forward: "I am her husband."
The nurse gave him a pitying look and said in a flat tone, "Change into your surgical gown and see the patient one last time."
Wei Ran dug his fingers into his palm to force himself to stay awake. His mind was blank, and he didn't know how he got to the operating room.
All I saw was my wife, who had been so lively that morning, lying pale-faced on the hospital bed. There were more than a dozen empty blood transfusion bags next to her, and the doctor was administering electric shocks, urging me, "Say what you need to say quickly."
"Beep—" The detector turned into a straight line.
Wei Ran wept uncontrollably. He knelt on one knee by the bed, holding his wife's hand tightly, as if this could save her life. A yellow object fell out of his arms as he moved.
He glanced over instinctively and saw a talisman, given to him by Su Lenghe. As if possessed, he picked it up and placed it in his wife's palm, crying, "Wife, this is a protective talisman; it will surely keep you safe."
The moment the talisman was placed, the heart rate monitor, which had been a straight line, suddenly resumed its wavy line.
"Beep... beep..." Each beep is the most beautiful sound in the world.
After emergency treatment, both mother and child were safe, and the wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Wei Ran's wife's vital signs stabilized, and after a period of observation, she was transferred to a regular ward.
His wife was taken back to her ward, and Wei Ran gratefully grasped the doctor's hand: "Doctor, thank you."
The doctor exclaimed, "Young man, this is the first case of amniotic fluid embolism that our hospital has successfully treated in ten years. Your wife was destined to live. In my thirty years of medical practice, this is the first time I've encountered someone who had supposedly died come back to life..."
Wei Ran had read popular science articles about amniotic fluid embolism, which had an 80% mortality rate, and it was considered very lucky to survive.
"Wei Ran," his wife called, opening her palm to reveal a talisman. "What's this? Don't you not believe in gods or Buddhas?"
Looking at the amulet, whose color had faded, Wei Ran said gratefully, "I believe it now. My wife, I've met a living god."
...
At eight o'clock in the morning, Su Lenghe finished her two-hour meditation and called Rong Yan.
Rong Yan's voice was filled with anger: "Why aren't you sleeping this early in the morning?!"
Su Lenghe said truthfully, "It's getting late. I've been up for two hours already."
Upon hearing the clear, cold voice, Rong Yan was instantly wide awake and jumped out of bed: "Master Su, I was just half asleep..."
Rong Lin walked to the dining table and glanced at the closed bedroom door: "Although this child has been on leave from school recently, he can't sleep in every day."
Jiang Xue knocked for a long time but there was no response. The maid came over and said, "Young Master left a long time ago."
The couple exchanged a glance, both seeing shock in each other's eyes.
Jiang Xue swallowed hard and whispered, "Honey, could the baby be haunted? Should we call Master Su to take a look?"
Rong Lin said irritably, "He's a diligent kid too. You didn't beat him when he was a kid for sleeping in, but he's still so lazy now that he's grown up."
Jiang Xue said anxiously, "You still have the appetite to eat? What if you really encounter a ghost?"
“The child is with Master Su every day. If he really encountered a ghost, wouldn’t the master not know? Then you wouldn’t have to worry.”
Jiang Xue's eyes lit up: "Ever since my son started working with Master Su, he's become much more proactive. Master Su is truly a benefactor to the Rong family..."
Su Lenghe walked downstairs, just as Rong Yan parked his red sports car and drove straight to the outskirts.
An ancient boat is moored on the side of the moat. Its exterior looks antique, while its interior is decorated in a magnificent style.
Rong Yan introduced Su Lenghe to a restaurant called "Jiangnan An", which is a well-known private kitchen in Kyoto.
The specialty here is freshly caught wild river fish, which are delivered here to be cooked in less than an hour. The ingredients are very fresh, and the restaurant has a rule that if the fish is not from the river, the customer will receive ten times the compensation.
Ten kinds of extremely fresh ingredients, including dried scallops and scallops, were simmered for a whole morning to make a rich broth. The river fish, sliced as thin as cicada wings, was then dipped in the broth, and the pink fish meat instantly turned milky white.
Even Rong Yan, who had tasted countless delicacies, found it so delicious that he almost swallowed his tongue.
Su Lenghe took a bite of the river fish and her gaze lingered on it.
Rong Yan put down his chopsticks: "Master Su, is this fish not tasty?"
Su Lenghe shook her head: "It tastes very good, but the main ingredient is not river fish."
Rong Yan couldn't believe that he, so clever as he was, had been tricked. He slammed his fist on the table in anger: "Outrageous!"
The waiter was so frightened that he quickly ran out to call the manager.
A fat, pot-bellied man, accompanied by two security guards, said in an unfriendly tone, "Young Master Rong, the fish we use in our restaurant are all caught from the river. If you don't like it, this portion is on us."
The tone and manner clearly indicated that Rong Yan wanted to dine and dash, and the other diners nearby cast disgusted glances at him.
Rong Yan's face darkened: "Master Su wouldn't make a mistake; what you're selling isn't river fish."
Su Lenghe pointed to the fish on the table and said, "There are two fish here. One of them was indeed caught from the river, and the other was bought from the market this morning."
