Chapter 34 A Narrow Escape

The supervisor's expression changed drastically as he asked, "What...what are you going to do?"

He didn't refute, but looked panicked, as if someone had caught him red-handed.

"Hu Lai!" A cold shout came.

Supervisor Hu Lai looked up, startled and completely flustered, and stammered, "Boss, cousin, let me explain..."

Su Lenghe glanced to the side and saw a middle-aged man in a suit with a refined appearance scolding Hu Lai with exasperation: "Your name is Hu Lai, I didn't expect you to be so reckless. You're going to ruin our reputation!"

Hu Lai lowered his head and whispered, "Cousin, I'm doing this for our shop. The amount of river fish you catch is simply not enough."

He pounded his chest, heartbroken, and said, "I never expected you to think of me like that. Fine, I'll just leave."

As he was about to leave, the boss quickly stopped him: "Let's talk this out, it's all my fault..."

Su Lenghe said calmly, "He's lying to you. Fishing is prohibited now, so there are more fish in the river than before. He's using farmed fish instead of river fish, just to line his own pocket."

Hu Lai's face turned pale upon hearing this, but what she said was all true. He couldn't find an excuse, so he glared at Su Lenghe and left resentfully.

As soon as the supervisor left, a new person in charge of purchasing was immediately hired.

It turns out that the two of them had been doing this for a year, mixing wild river fish with ordinary farmed fish while purchasing them and selling them together.

The shop owner asked curiously, "Fish raised in the wild have a muddy, fishy smell, why hasn't anyone noticed it after all this time?"

Su Lenghe: "Your broth has a strong flavor. If you suppress the flavor, it won't be easy to taste."

The boss suddenly realized, "Oh, I see."

He clasped his hands in a gesture of respect and said, "Thank you, young lady. My name is Yao Yufeng. May I ask your surname?"

Su Lenghe said, "My surname is Su, Su Lenghe."

Yao Yufeng: "Someone delivered a rockfish today. I wonder if Miss Su would do me the honor of trying it?"

Su Lenghe glanced at the time and shook her head: "It's unfortunate today, we still need to buy stones."

Stone? Yao Yufeng looked puzzled, and Rong Yan explained, "Raw stone."

Yao Yufeng said regretfully, "See you next time."

Su Lenghe glanced at Yao Yufeng's face and said calmly, "We'll meet soon."

She left a phone number for Yao Yufeng: "Remember to call this number if you encounter anything you can't solve."

Yao Yufeng looked at the phone number in his palm, puzzled, but still stuffed it into the pile of business cards.

Rong Yan led Su Lenghe straight to the largest raw stone exchange in Kyoto.
