Chapter 139 We Can't Let Xiaoyu Be Without a Mother

Upon hearing the surveillance footage, the kindergarten director was stunned and began to stammer.

"This...this surveillance camera...it's broken. Yes! It's broken!"

"It's broken?" the teacher exclaimed in surprise. "How could it be broken? It was fine yesterday..."

As soon as the headmaster saw that she was about to let something slip, he hurriedly stopped her.

"It's broken, it just broke. I was just about to get it fixed. I don't know who broke it!"

He hurriedly explained, his forehead covered in sweat, then turned to look at Su Yan and asked in a pretentious manner, "What's wrong, Xiaoyu's mother? Has something important happened?"

The teacher immediately exclaimed, "Xiaoyu's mother's car tires have been punctured by someone!"

Ouch!

Upon hearing this, the headmistress exclaimed, "Oh dear! How could such a thing happen? Xiaoyu's mother, you're so unlucky!"

He glanced quickly out the window, cleared his throat, and said, "How about this, Xiaoyu's mom? It's getting late, and it's not safe for you to go back. Why don't you stay at the kindergarten for the night? We can arrange for someone to take you back with the car tomorrow morning, what do you think?"

Su Yan paused for a moment, hesitating, but when she saw the sunset outside the window and thought of Su Xiaoyu's face, she agreed.

"Then I'll trouble the headmaster to make the arrangements."

The headmistress immediately smiled happily and waved her hand, "No trouble at all! No trouble at all! If you keep being so polite, I'll be the one who feels embarrassed."

He turned to the teacher and said, "Go and arrange a separate room for Xiaoyu to stay with her mother."

No sooner had Su Yan left with the teacher than the principal rushed to the window and, deliberately speaking sternly to the two eavesdropping children below, said, "Is that alright now? You two are driving me crazy!"

Yi Kangle knew he was just trying to scare her, so she smiled sweetly and said, "Grandpa Headmaster, thank you."

The headmistress felt a warmth in her heart, turned to look at Su Xiaoyu, her hopes briefly dashed, only to be dashed again.

Forget it, why make things difficult for the child?

He waved his hand and said, "You two go have fun, and don't do anything dangerous again!"

Yi Kangle nodded heavily, took Su Xiaoyu's hand, and as they walked, he turned his head to look at her and asked, "Your mother has moved in, you must be very happy, right?"

Su Xiaoyu didn't say anything, but her pace seemed to quicken considerably.

After arranging Su Yan's accommodation, the teacher returned to the principal's office with a worried look on her face.

"Principal, why did our surveillance cameras suddenly break down? That's so strange. Xiaoyu's mother's tires were also punctured. Could someone have done something on purpose? It's terrifying."

Seeing her alarmist expression, the principal immediately reprimanded her sternly: "Don't believe everything you hear. Nothing's wrong with our kindergarten. The security cameras can be fixed. As for the tire... it was probably just an accident."

The teacher did not relax at all because of his words; her brows remained furrowed.

"If I find out who did it, I'll shave their heads, slap them both, and send them to the police station. This is such an immoral thing to do. It's a good thing Xiaoyu's mother doesn't mind. Otherwise, this would have been a huge problem."

Upon hearing this, the headmaster began to cough.

"They might have their own reasons or difficulties, so why do you just pull their hair out like that!"

He touched the sparse hair on his head with a pained expression, then waved the teacher away, saying, "It's almost time, go teach the children!"

Su Yan received a lot of attention at the kindergarten, probably because of the tire incident, which allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of Xiao Yu's life at the kindergarten.

As night fell, Su Yan changed her clothes, washed up, and came back to find Su Xiaoyu sitting on the bed drawing.

"Xiaoyu, it's time to go to sleep, so stop drawing."

Su Yan only said one sentence, and Su Xiaoyu stopped writing and obediently got into bed.

By the time Su Yan finished getting ready and went to bed, Su Xiaoyu was already curled up on the bed, asleep.

Su Yan looked at her curled-up figure, and her gaze softened little by little.

She covered Su Xiaoyu with the blanket and lay down next to her.

The lights in the room were off, with only the faint moonlight illuminating the room from outside the window.

Su Xiaoyu was enveloped by Su Yan's aura. She slowly opened her eyes and shuffled away from Su Yan.

It only stopped when it reached the edge of the bed.

She turned over, her back to Su Yan.

Su Yan was startled by her movement and turned her head to look at her small body in the moonlight.

"Xiaoyu?"

She called out tentatively, but there was no response.

Her heart sank immediately, and she suddenly remembered Duan Sisi's words.

"What children need most when they are growing up is the company of their parents. Chenchen is gone, do you want Xiaoyu to be without it too?"

Su Yan can now clearly sense Su Xiaoyu's resistance towards her.

Her eyes dimmed, and she didn't force Su Xiaoyu. She just lay quietly on the bed, her mind unconsciously rummaging through her past memories.

As night deepened, Su Yan still couldn't fall asleep; she was suffering from insomnia.

Just as she was blaming herself for being a bad mother, that little body moved again.

Su Yan was stunned for a moment, not daring to move, but her breathing became rapid.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Su Xiaoyu get up and turn to look at her. She immediately closed her eyes in a panic.

After a while, I heard the sound of clothes rubbing against the sheets.

Just as Su Yan was about to open her eyes to see what she was up to in the middle of the night, she suddenly felt a warmth beside her. A small person leaned in and carefully placed their small hand on her waist.

The movements were very gentle and careful, as if afraid of waking her.

Before Su Yan could react, she heard a soft "Mommy".

Su Yan's eyes suddenly welled up with tears, as if something was about to spill out.

Her nose was stinging terribly, but she dared not move an inch.

Su Xiaoyu found a comfortable spot next to Su Yan, greedily inhaling her mother's scent, and then tilted her little face up as she drifted off into a sweet dream.

Duan Sisi called very early in the morning.

The incident woke Su Yan and also woke Su Xiaoyu.

As soon as Su Yan opened her eyes, Su Xiaoyu quickly let go of her hand and rolled back to her original position.

Su Yan, who had just opened her eyes, was amused by her awkwardness. She shook her head helplessly, picked up her phone, and went outside.

As soon as the call was answered, Duan Sisi's anxious voice rang out.

"You didn't come home all night, where did you go? I've been looking for you so hard!"

Su Yan was taken aback for a moment, then explained, "My car broke down, so I didn't go back to Xiaoyu's kindergarten and stayed with her for one night."

Duan Sisi finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, I see. You should have at least made a phone call!"

Amidst Duan Sisi's rambling, Su Yan suddenly said, "Sisi, you're right. I can't let Xiaoyu be without a mother. I'm going to take Xiaoyu home."
