Every blow the bodyguard struck at the car was clearly a blow to He Yunxin's heart.
She was completely driven mad and charged at Meng Jie aggressively.
He Yunxin grabbed Meng Jie by the collar and raised her hand to slap her, but Meng Jie caught her decisively in mid-air.
Meng Jie looked at it with extreme disgust and slapped it across her face.
Meng Jie used considerable force in that slap, knocking He Yunxin to the ground, her hair disheveled, and her mouth filled with the taste of blood.
"You dare hit me?!"
He Yunxin covered her face with her hands, looking at Meng Jie with teary eyes.
"I won't let you get away with this! You've violated other people's property rights. I'll sue you wherever I want, and I'll be in the right! Not only will I sue, but I'll also tell the reporters all the shameful things you've done!"
Meng Jie listened expressionlessly, her face showing no emotion whatsoever.
After He Yunxin finished speaking, she calmly corrected her: "What I did was not infringing on other people's property. I was just disposing of my own things."
"This is my stuff!" He Yunxin retorted loudly.
“Everything Yi Ruihua buys for you is from our shared assets. Your perfume, jewelry, clothes, bags, and car.”
Meng Jie paused for a moment, then said, "Even the house, legally, belongs to me. Tell me, if I want to smash my car, if I want to smash my house, what law have I broken? What crime have I committed?"
He Yunxin couldn't say a word, and stood there trembling, covering her face.
She was stunned for a long time before she suddenly remembered He Ziming.
She laughed loudly, "Meng Jie, do you think you can win against me like this? I still have Zi Mo, he's my and my husband's child! He has inheritance rights! You won't win, he has to get a share of your so-called joint property! How about that? Meng Jie, are you still arrogant? Can you still laugh?"
"So, in order to ensure your son inherits all of the Yi family's wealth, you plotted to kill me?"
He Yunxin's smile froze on her face. "You..."
Seeing the disbelief on her face, Meng Jie smiled and said the words for her.
"How would I know? It was all your husband who told me."
He Yunxin's psychological defenses completely collapsed. She never imagined that Yi Ruihua would betray her. He had done everything for her, how could he?
"You're lying! You're deceiving me!"
Seeing that he was deceiving himself, Meng Jie did not try to help her see through the scumbag's good intentions.
"You'll be going to jail before your son inherits my joint property."
Meng Jie turned her head to look at the car that had been smashed to pieces, and coldly ordered the bodyguard, "Stop. Follow Miss He to take back my house."
She threw down those words, not bothering to look at He Yunxin's expression, and walked straight into the house.
As soon as she entered the room, she bumped into Yi Ruihua, who was frozen on the stairs.
"I've freed you from this predicament."
Upon hearing this, Yi Ruihua's eyes trembled, and he instantly felt a surge of pain.
Meng Jie didn't want to see his regretful expression, so she turned and went into the kitchen.
Wu Fen greeted her with a beaming smile, saying cheerfully, "Madam, you should have done this a long time ago!"
Meng Jie's face, however, showed no sign of cheerfulness; instead, it was filled with gloom.
Instead of answering Wu Fen's question, she told her, "Make me some chicken soup. I'm going to the hospital in a bit."
Wu Fen was stunned. "Didn't you come back? Why did you go to the hospital? Was someone else injured?"
Upon hearing this, Meng Jie's breathing became uncontrollably heavy. She lowered her eyes, only able to conceal the turbulent emotions churning within them, but still unable to hide the restlessness that emanated from her entire being.
She sat in the restaurant chair, not going anywhere, not saying a word, just waiting for Wu Fen to make the chicken soup.
Wu Fen found her appearance very strange. She had never seen her like this since she came to the Yi family, not even when she learned about He Yunxin and He Zimo.
She didn't know what to ask, so she hurriedly went to make chicken soup.
But before the chicken soup was ready, Meng Jie received a phone call.
Upon hearing the message from the other end of the phone, Meng Jie's hand trembled, and the phone slipped from her grasp, falling to the ground with a "thud."
When Wu Fen heard the noise, she ran out and saw Meng Jie's eyes wide open, filled with tears of fear.
Wu Fen was startled and wanted to ask something, but Meng Jie rushed out like a madwoman.
In the hospital, Su Yan, who was holding Yi An's hand, froze on the spot as if struck by lightning. Her neck felt like it was filled with lead, and she didn't dare to even turn it.
But the monitor in her ear kept ringing, constantly reminding her of this cruel reality.
Doctors and nurses rushed in, crowding around the bed.
The nurse kept pulling Su Yan away, saying, "Madam, please step out for a moment. Don't obstruct our rescue efforts."
Su Yan opened her mouth, but couldn't utter a single sound. She held Yi An's hand tightly, looking at his pale, bloodless face, tears streaming down her face.
Su Yan was asked to leave the ward by the nurse and could only press her face against the window glass, watching the doctor examine Yi An's condition.
The doctor said something, and then the nurse brought in a defibrillator.
As Su Yan watched Yi An's body twitch, her mind became a jumbled mess. All the memories of her long-standing relationship with Yi An flooded back like a tidal wave.
Her trembling hand covered her chest, where a heart-wrenching pain was hidden beneath.
When Meng Jie rushed over, she saw Su Yan looking heartbroken. She stopped in her tracks and hesitated to approach.
Meng Jie walked shakily to the glass, looked at Yi An being rescued inside, her pupils suddenly contracted, her hands clenched into fists, and she couldn't stop trembling.
Su Yan noticed the person next to her, turned her head and looked over, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
"Aunt."
She had barely uttered a word when Meng Jie interrupted her sharply.
"Don't cry! He won't die!"
Meng Jie didn't even glance at her, staring intently at Yi An's pale, paper-white face, her eyes filled with determination.
"Because he is my son, he will never die!"
The firm words she uttered through clenched teeth seemed to be comforting Su Yan, but also seemed to be spoken to herself.
Su Yan's eyelashes trembled slightly, and she turned her head, just like Su Yan, silently watching the doctor's rescue efforts.
The doctor, panting heavily, looked at the straight line on the monitor, his expression growing even more grave.
"Increase the energy."
The nurse's eyes were also filled with sorrow upon hearing this.
"alright."
The doctor took a breath and placed the defibrillator back on Yi An's chest.
Su Yan clenched her fists tightly, muttering to herself, "Please, please don't let my child lose a father again."
