Perhaps her sincere pleas had an effect, for a sudden "beep" sounded, and the monitor showed a heartbeat again.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
After examining Yi An, the doctor wiped the sweat from his forehead and came out.
He looked at Su Yan and Meng Jie who came to greet him, his expression still solemn.
"Mr. Meng, although he is out of danger for now, as I told you, his condition is still very serious. None of the doctors in our hospital have the skills to perform the surgery. If we can't find a suitable doctor soon, please prepare accordingly."
Upon hearing this, Su Yan felt dizzy and staggered back a few steps, almost losing her balance.
Meng Jie was much calmer than her.
"Whether in China or abroad, tell me, which doctor can save my son?"
The doctor thought for a moment and said, "There is a senior expert in this field, both domestically and internationally. I just heard that he will be coming to M City during this period. If we can invite him, the surgery should be much more effective."
"Who?" Meng Jie asked urgently.
"Luo Zhengqing".
Upon hearing this name, Meng Jie's pupils contracted sharply before returning to normal.
"Okay, I understand."
Su Yan kept repeating the name, and she said urgently to Meng Jie, "I'll go find him, no matter what method or means I have to, I will definitely bring him here."
Meng Jie's face didn't show much emotion. She turned her head to look at Yi An lying in the room and slowly said, "You'll come with me tomorrow."
Su Yan was taken aback for a moment, then asked in confusion, "Where to?"
"Remember to wear black clothes."
Meng Jie only gave this one sentence.
The next day, when Su Yan arrived at her destination, she learned that the place she had come to with Meng Jie was the funeral of the deceased driver.
The funeral was surrounded by reporters. It was unclear whether they knew Meng Jie was coming beforehand or simply sensed that there was news to be found at the funeral.
As soon as Su Yan got out of the car with Meng Jie, she was surrounded by reporters.
Wearing oversized sunglasses, Meng Jie walked silently and expressionlessly into the cemetery.
Su Yan followed closely behind, always keeping a perfect step's distance from her.
Whether it was Meng Jie's imposing aura or her solemn expression, all the reporters only dared to surround her and take pictures; not a single one asked a question.
The driver's family members were somewhat flattered when they saw Meng Jie walk in.
"Mr. Meng, why did you come in person?"
Meng Jie ignored her and walked to the driver's tombstone, took off her sunglasses, and bowed deeply with a sorrowful expression.
Su Yan followed suit and bowed as well.
After bowing, Meng Jie walked up to the family member and held her hand tightly.
"I am very sorry for this accident. To express my apology, I will do my best to compensate your family and help you with your lives."
Her words were so sincere that they brought tears to the eyes of the family members.
"President Meng, you've already helped us enough. I know this isn't your responsibility. There are malicious people trying to harm you. Don't worry, I'm not a fool. I won't hate the wrong person."
Meng Jie spoke a few more words with the family members and arranged everything before leading Su Yan away.
The road from the cemetery to the car attracted another round of filming from reporters.
After Su Yan got into the car, Meng Jie took out a document from the side and handed it to Su Yan.
Su Yan stared blankly at the document in front of her, then hesitantly took it.
"What's this?"
"These are documents from the Yi Group. Read them tonight; they will be helpful in handling company affairs in the future."
Su Yan was stunned upon hearing this. "Handle company affairs? You want me to work for the Yi Group?"
Meng Jie ignored her words and continued, "Tomorrow I will convene a board meeting to formally appoint you as the CEO of the Yi Group."
"Why?" Su Yan asked again, her words emphasizing even more.
Seeing her overreacting, Meng Jie asked expressionlessly, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
Su Yan pressed the document down with her hand. "Why are you suddenly asking me to go to the Yi Group? Aren't you afraid that once I get information about the Yi Group, I might do something shady?"
Meng Jie chuckled lightly, seemingly expressing her disdain for her question.
"You won't."
Hearing her unusually firm words, Su Yan frowned and asked, "Why not?"
"Because you are the mother of my grandchildren and the wife of my son."
Upon hearing this answer, Su Yan frowned even more deeply; she had no idea what Meng Jie was up to.
Meng Jie withdrew her gaze, looked straight ahead, and explained calmly, "You know the situation very well, don't you? My position may seem unshakeable, but it's actually precarious. Once Yi An's situation gets out, even I won't be able to easily control the entire Yi Group."
She added gravely, "Moreover, neither He Ziming nor Yi Ruihua will let this piece of fat meat go."
Su Yan was shocked. She suddenly understood why Meng Jie insisted on bringing her to the funeral, and why there were so many reporters outside the funeral.
This was all Meng Jie's deliberate design!
Meng Jie's purpose was to use their cameras to officially announce her status as the daughter-in-law of the Yi family to everyone, so that the board's appointment tomorrow would proceed smoothly.
Meng Jie's words continued to echo in my ears.
“Xiaoyu and Xiaobao are both Yi An’s children, and they are the true heirs of the Yi Group. Whether you are Yi An’s wife or the mother of the children, you should stand firmly with me.”
Meng Jie turned to look at her, "I've paved the way for you. How you walk it, and whether you can walk it steadily, depends on your own abilities."
Su Yan's eyelashes trembled, and she suddenly dared not look at Meng Jie.
After going through her divorce, she prided herself on seeing through all the coldness and warmth of the world, being able to act coldly and ruthlessly, unaffected by emotions, and decisive in her actions.
But compared to Meng Jie, she is still too young.
How could Meng Jie be so heartless as to plan for the worst possible outcome for her own son?
She seemed to have given up all hope for Yi'an, and every step she took was based on the premise that Yi'an could walk.
Seeing that she kept her head down and didn't say anything, Meng Jie didn't press her, but called for the car to stop.
"Stop at the next intersection."
After the car stopped, Meng Jie turned to Su Yan and said, "I have something to do, so you can get off here. Remember to finish reviewing all the documents tonight, and I'll be waiting for you at the Yi Group at eight o'clock tomorrow morning."
Su Yan got out of the car and didn't look at Meng Jie even once. She was scared, genuinely scared.
Now that even Meng Jie has given up on Yi An, does Yi An still have any hope of survival?
